Chapter 66 Sichuan Army

They stepped forward, mud splashing all over their bodies. They looked like a group of guys who had just crawled out of the mud. Compared with them, Yu Xiaoqing and his men were much better off. The helmet of the puny guy was shiny under the baptism of rain. Chen Dayuan, who was standing with them, was hardly even wet.

Anyone with a discerning eye could see that Yu Datie was angry.

He even refused to let Zhang Lixian read the list of supplies that was going to be given to them. Yu Datiexue was always like a gun, and even his words were as cold as bullets.

"If I have to stand, I'll find another place, but not here!"

Apparently, he had no intention of speaking, so it was the experienced Tang Ji who came out to smooth things over. Behind him was Zhang Lixian, who followed closely behind him and held an umbrella for him.

The rain was lighter now, lighter than when they were on the Flag-Sacrificing Hill, but it was still falling.

"Brothers, since leaving Sichuan, the Qianchuan Corps has been prepared to die. We've tread the bloody battlefields, watching souls soar! Today, I'll pass on this indomitable spirit to you. My ancestors are from Hunan, and I'll use the words they use to send off their warriors: 'Swallow the bitterness, be ruthless, and endure the vexation.' But I'm still a soldier, and in the name of General Yu, I'll also give you this: 'I will obey your orders, as if you were a mountain standing on the edge of a deep abyss.'"

Shuo Yu was listening from below, and for some reason he recalled the long opening ceremony he had attended many times before. It was the same back then, with the pot-bellied principal, the vice-principal, the teacher representatives, the student representatives, and even more annoyingly, the parent representatives all had to go up and give a speech.

Tang Ji's words may have been meant to be a warning, but eight out of ten people he was talking to were illiterate and couldn't understand what he was saying. They only knew that the old man was spitting saliva all over his mouth.

But they don't have to worry about not understanding, because Yu Xiaoqing immediately supplemented it.

"What I mean is, don't go too far. I love talent, and I love talent for this battle, but I'm even more willing to kill talent for this battle, especially those who are arrogant because of their talent. Captain Long, why are you climbing the flag slope for sacrifice?"

Shuo Yu felt that if Yu Da Tiexue knew what they were going to do, he might not be so angry. At least they had a reason. However, their leader said nothing, but just showed a fearful reaction on his face, like a pug trying to please its master.

Shuo Yu looked at Yu Xiaoqing's face and it suddenly darkened.

"Okay, if you don't tell me, I won't ask. You have your reasons, He Shuguang!"

"have!"

Shuo Yu stood beside their leader, watching Yu Xiaoqing pick up the flag of the Yuanchuan Corps and talk about its origins: a piece of shroud for burial, an old painter's coffin, and a Xing Tian who had lost his head but still wielded his weapon.

"Jingwei carries a tiny piece of wood to fill the vast ocean, and Xingtian dances with his halberd and shield, his fierce ambition remains. I thought I should give it to you, but now I'm a little afraid to give it to you."

As he finished speaking, there was a loud thunderclap from the sky, deafening, but his voice was louder than thunder. Shuo Yu looked at the shoes on Yu Xiaoqing's feet that creaked in the rain. They were made of leather and waterproof. He wondered when he could get a pair of such shoes for their captain?

It would be best if I could get a pair for the vet too. His feet are easily caught cold if they're constantly soaked in rainwater. He already has cold legs, so he might as well get a pair. Protecting the body starts with the feet. And Ayi, after wearing them, he looks like a deputy team leader and supervisor...

Shuo Yu counted carefully and found that the list of people who needed shoes was quite long, but where could he find so many shoes in such a short time? His voice echoed with the thunder, thinking that it would be great if everyone could wear waterproof shoes one day.

Yu Datiexue was still talking, and his words were actually becoming more and more flowery. Except for a few of the students in Shuoyu's team who understood, the rest of them were staring at each other. But he wasn't talking to them in the first place.

"Everyone has their own preferences. I just hope that you can be worthy of this piece of shroud."

With the thunder just now, the rain finally stopped.

Director Chen, Tang Ji, and Yu Xiaoqing's group all expressed their appreciation for his words and applauded, but the majority of the rest of the group, including Shuo Yu and his group, as well as the guys not far away who were about to join their group, were all stunned.

The white shroud was finally handed to Shuo Yu, along with the inventory. He didn't know what happened when Yu Xiaoqing and the others arrived, but they left incredibly quickly. A large group of people had left in a flash, leaving only the "Sichuan Army" standing there. They left a message behind.

"That's all I have for the supplies list and personnel roster. I'll add more depending on how you do! You don't have to give me too much credit. I've already offended a lot—!"

Finally, he saluted. This time, their regiment leader finally reacted and shouted "salute". Shuoyu and the others naturally didn't need him to say anything. They had already saluted as a conditioned reflex when he shouted. What he needed to take care of were the group of skinny new recruits who were about to join them. Shuoyu glanced at their young faces. They were really young, just like bean cakes.

They were just a few hundred other bean cakes whose names Zhang Shuoyu couldn't remember, shivering in the cold wind. Their leader acted like a lackey and asked them to raise their hands and salute, so they followed suit.

After the greeting, Yu Xiaoqing left, leaving only a few of them. Shuo Yu kicked the stunned butts and hurried to take care of the new recruits. The group of "new recruits" that were about to be added to them was as many as two companies, and the number of people was not small.

But after Yu Xiaoqing and the others left, those poor "children" could no longer hold back. They fell to the ground with pale faces, asking, "When can we eat, Boss?" "We want to eat." "Didn't you say we'd be fed when we showed up?"
