Chapter 102 Joy in the Countryside

The mother and daughter worked together, one as the head chef and the other as the assistant. Yan Ling frowned inwardly as she watched her daughter's skillful movements.

"Jing, are you cooking all the meals at home now?"

Su Jingjing didn't notice her mother's strangeness and nodded truthfully, "Yes, An'an and Yuanyuan also enjoyed their meal. Mom, don't you think they've gained weight?"

"Mom knows this. It's just that you didn't have to do anything at home before, but I didn't expect that you would have to do everything after you got married. It makes me feel bad."

Su Jingjing paused, looked up at her mother's thin figure, stood up and took her arm, saying affectionately, "Mom, I'm married now, I can't be as lazy as before, and I'm happy about it, I don't feel wronged at all."

Love is mutual and requires a two-way exchange; it cannot be achieved if only one person gives. Such love is exhausting.

Yan Ling patted her daughter's hand and smiled, "Mom understands. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

Then she changed the subject, "When your dad comes back, don't hold a grudge against him. He's a stubborn guy. If you apologize to him, he definitely won't be angry with you."

The old man's love for his daughter was even more profound than that for his mother.

The old man, however, did not spoil his daughter. He was a man of integrity and would not allow his daughter to force him into marriage.

The father and daughter have the same temper; neither is willing to back down, and they argue as soon as they meet. The atmosphere at home has not been very good in recent years, and Jingya has never brought the two children home. She hopes that today will be a little happier.

"Mom, I understand. I'll give in to Dad."

The book mentions Su's father, who served as the village chief. He was upright and honest, and made many contributions to the village. Everyone praised him, but because of the original owner's affairs, he lost all face as an old man.

"Mom, I have to praise you. My sister-in-law hasn't been working in the fields lately, and she looks much better."

The resentment in him has also lessened considerably.

“Your mother keeps her word,” Yan Ling said smugly. “After all, she’s carrying our Su family’s grandson.”

Su's mother is a typical example of someone with a sharp tongue but a soft heart, and extremely protective of her own. She just can't stand Dong Qin's personality; she's too weak and doesn't have the magnanimity of the Su family at all.

Just as the mother and daughter were chatting enthusiastically, Dong Qin walked in.

"Mom, Jingjing, I'll help too."

Hiding in her room, Dong Qin felt increasingly uneasy, wondering if her mother-in-law was deliberately testing her.

Yan Ling stepped forward and scolded, "Why did you come here? Didn't I tell you to rest? Your main task now is to give the Su family a healthy and chubby son."

Seeing her sister-in-law's expression change drastically, Su Jingjing quickly nudged her mother's hand to smooth things over, "Mom, my sister-in-law is probably bored and wants to come over and talk to us."

He then went over and took his sister-in-law's hand, saying gently, "Sister-in-law, we need you as a helper."

Dong Qin smiled gratefully at her sister-in-law.

The atmosphere among the three of them remained relatively harmonious afterward.

Li Hanting was walking along a country road with his brother-in-law, while two children skipped and jumped around beside them.

"Brother, this flower is so pretty, I want it."

Upon seeing the bright and blooming flowers, Li Yuanyuan's eyes lit up. She couldn't wait to reach out and pick them, but even on tiptoe, she couldn't reach high enough.

She pouted, looking aggrieved, "Brother..."

Li Cheng'an gently brushed the dirt off his sister's clothes and said helplessly, "Stand still, which one do you want?"

My little sister giggled and pointed to the pink flower above her head, "That..."

The little girl's thoughts were obvious to him. Li Cheng'an frowned as he stared at the pink flower. Urged by his sister, he picked it and tied it up for her to prevent it from falling apart.

"Thank you, brother. You're so kind."

The little guy showered his brother with compliments, saying, "Brother, there are more flowers over there, I want some more!" He then grabbed his brother's hand and ran over.

Su Dashan said reservedly, "Commander Li, look how happy the two children are playing. Bring them back to play often when you have time."

He still habitually addressed the other party as Commander Li, and Li Hanting was older than him and outstanding in every way, so it was hard to believe that he was his brother-in-law.

Li Hanting watched the two children playing quietly; in fact, it was An'an who was keeping Yuanyuan company.

She turned her head to look at her brother-in-law, her voice slightly low and hoarse, "Brother, just call me Hanting. I'll bring them back often whenever I have time."

"Okay, alright then."

Despite saying that, his brother-in-law had a stern demeanor, and he still couldn't help but tremble.

"Brother, Jingjing had a fight with her family before, I hope you won't be angry with her."

The whole marriage with my wife caused quite a stir, and she even told my older brother that she was cutting ties with him.

Su Dashan smiled and said, "No matter what, she's still my sister, so how could I really be angry with her?"

He knew his younger sister's personality better than anyone else from childhood to adulthood, and he was used to it.

Just then, someone walked over carrying a hoe. "Aren't you that..."

"Uncle Gao, I am Li Hanting, do you remember me?"

Uncle Gao clapped his hands and laughed, "Yes, yes, Commander Li, it's been so long since we've seen you, everyone misses you."

"What are you doing today...?"

She glanced at Su Dashan beside her and immediately understood, "Oh, so he's accompanying Jingjing back to her parents' home?"

Li Hanting nodded. "Yes, Uncle Gao, I'm going back to the village with my wife. How have you been feeling lately?"

Uncle Gao laughed heartily, "Not bad, country folk, aren't they all in great shape?"

But he couldn't help but wonder if it was because he was getting old. In his memory, Commander Li and the Su family's daughter had a forced marriage relationship, not a close marital relationship.
