Chapter 165 Mother-in-law's Love

Having not seen An'an and Yuanyuan for quite some time, Chen Shufang made a special trip with her daughter to visit them at the family compound.

Li Cheng'an was playing downstairs with his younger sister when he saw his grandmother and aunt appear. He raised his eyebrows and ran over breathlessly, "Grandma, Aunt, what brings you here?"

"Grandma misses you and Yuanyuan."

Upon hearing her grandmother's voice, Li Yuanyuan immediately turned around and ran over.

"You're all sweaty from playing, aren't you tired?"

Chen Shufang picked up a handkerchief and wiped the children's sweat.

Li Yuanyuan, who was being hugged by her aunt, smiled and said, "I'm not tired."

"You little rascal." Chen Shufang tapped the little guy's nose and casually asked, "Is Mommy upstairs?"

Li Cheng'an hesitated for a moment, his face showing difficulty.

Chen Shufang's heart skipped a beat. Had Jingjing gotten into trouble again?

"Grandma, Mom is still sleeping."

Li Yuanyuan whispered in her grandmother's ear, making sure no one else could hear.

Li Yuehuan immediately bristled, just as I had expected.

"Mom, am I right? My second sister-in-law has been faking it all this time."

The sun was already high in the sky, yet she was still sleeping in bed. Li Yuehuan admitted she was jealous.

Chen Shufang gently scolded her daughter, "Don't talk nonsense."

She didn't want to speak ill of Jingjing in front of the children; perhaps things weren't as they thought.

She's now more concerned about whether her two children have eaten breakfast.

Have you had breakfast yet?

"We ate it," the two children said in unison.

Li Cheng'an couldn't bear to see his mother wrongly accused. "Grandma, Mom didn't sleep in on purpose. Dad told us not to disturb her."

Having been through similar experiences, Chen Shufang immediately understood what was going on; it turned out that the culprit was her son.

However, from another perspective, the couple is indeed very loving.

"Let's go upstairs first."

Upon arriving upstairs and unlocking the door, I saw Su Jingjing pouring water for a drink.

"Mom, Huanhuan, when did you arrive?"

Su Jingjing held her waist with one hand and poured water with the other. It's no wonder she was slow to move; she was simply too weak to move.

She had just gotten out of bed by sheer willpower.

I was completely stunned when I saw my mother-in-law and sister-in-law appear.

Although her daughter-in-law's spirits were low, her face was rosy, so Chen Shufang was relieved, fearing that Han Ting had not been careful last night.

Smiling, she placed the bag on the table and said, "We just arrived and thought we'd come and see you and the children."

Have you had breakfast?

Chen Shufang asked with concern, "Do you want Mom to cook you some noodles?"

Su Jingjing's face immediately turned completely red; her mother-in-law must have found out.

Avoiding her mother-in-law's gaze, she said, "Not yet, Ah Ting left me breakfast."

Li Yuehuan never expected her mother to switch sides at the last minute. Why was her mother so biased when they were both sleeping in late?

If she gets up late, she won't even find a single vegetable leaf in the kitchen.

"Mom, I..."

Chen Shufang raised her voice, "Shut up."

It goes without saying what this girl wants to say.

When Jingjing is really vulnerable, she can't stand some harsh words.

Although my mother is usually gentle and refined, she can only obey when she raises her voice. If it were my father, I could at least act cute.

He sat in the chair, sulking, holding back his anger.

"Auntie, what's wrong?"

Li Yuanyuan could clearly sense that her aunt was unhappy.

She cupped her aunt's face in her two little hands, comforting her.

"Little girl, your aunt is alright."

In front of her adorable little niece, Li Yuehuan instantly lost all her pent-up anger.

Chen Shufang ignored her daughter's emotions, figuring the girl would handle it herself, and went into the kitchen to bring out the breakfast.

Steamed buns with porridge are not bad.

Su Jingjing took it, "Mom, I can do it."

"It's okay, it's not very hot."

Chen Shufang felt something was missing. "Mom will go boil an egg for you."

Before Su Jingjing could stop her, her mother-in-law had already entered the kitchen.

Boiling an egg only takes a few minutes, but Chen Shufang boiled three eggs at once, one for each of her two children.

"Here, eat it while it's hot."

She helped the two children peel the eggshells and handed them to them.

Li Yuehuan looked left and right, then stretched out her hand. "Mom, don't I have any eggs?"

Chen Shufang said leisurely, "Didn't you just eat one this morning? You can't eat too many eggs in a day."

What kind of saying is this? She's never heard of it before.

He was beaten up by his mother again.

"Auntie, Yuanyuan will share some with you."

The little guy had only taken a small bite out of the egg in his hand before he was about to offer it to his aunt.

Li Yuehuan was touched. "Your aunt didn't spoil you for nothing."

"You can eat it, Auntie was just joking."

Despite the pressure from several people, Su Jingjing finally finished her breakfast.

After washing the dishes, her mother-in-law pulled her to sit down again.

"Sit down quickly, don't tire yourself out."

"Mom, I'm not tired."

Su Jingjing was momentarily at a loss for what to do.

"I'll make lunch later, or you can go back to your room and rest."

Seeing that her daughter-in-law's walking posture was not right, Chen Shufang couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

Han Ting's brute strength was far too much for Jing Jing's small frame to handle.

"Mom, I'm fine. I'll sit here and chat with you."

Every word her mother-in-law said made Su Jingjing so embarrassed that she wanted to dig out a three-bedroom apartment.

They chatted while watching TV, enjoying a pleasant conversation they hadn't had in a long time, and Su Jingjing gained a deeper understanding of the Li family.

"It's getting late, I'll go to the vegetable garden and pick some vegetables to bring up."

Chen Shufang glanced at the clock on the wall, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw her daughter-in-law getting up as well. She quickly stopped her, saying, "Don't move, the children can take me."

Li Cheng'an volunteered, "Mom, sit down, I'll take Grandma downstairs."

Yuanyuan and her aunt seemed engrossed in watching TV; the two of them sometimes looked quite alike.

"Grandma, that's our vegetable garden."

Chen Shufang looked in the direction her grandson pointed and saw that the vegetables inside were growing well, clearly indicating that they were regularly tended to.

A slight thought crossed her mind, and she tentatively asked, "An'an, who usually takes care of these vegetables?"

"It used to be Dad, but now Mom takes care of everything."

Since Mom took over, the vegetables in the garden have indeed grown very well.

Chen Shufang nodded in satisfaction, picking vegetables as she chatted with her grandson, "An'an, there's no longer any distance between you and your mother, right?"

Li Cheng'an shook his head, "No, Mom is fine. I like my mom very much now."

Modern mothers care for and look after him.

"Good child, let's forget the unpleasant things from before and from now on only remember the good things about Mom."

Chen Shufang knew he understood everything. Yuanyuan was a naive child, and she might not remember what Jingjing had done to her before. But An'an was different; this child had an exceptionally good memory. She was afraid that the shadows from his childhood were deeply buried in his heart.

When Jingjing was making a scene before, none of them could stop her.

I really feel bad for An'an.
