Chapter 178 Granny Yuan

After calming down, Zhong Xinyi realized that she had returned to the village.

The roads in the small village were quite rugged, but fortunately Gu Shaokai was a good driver, so the ride wasn't too bumpy.

The sun was gradually setting outside the window. Everyone had just returned from the fields and couldn't help but get excited when they saw a four-wheeled car driving into the village.

not good!

Zhong Xinyi's mind went blank for a moment, and she quickly bent down, trying to cover her face with her bag.

If she's discovered, she'll definitely become the talk of the village the next day.

Gu Shaokai turned his head to look at the little woman's cute appearance, and the corners of his lips curled up slightly. "Don't worry, no one outside can see inside."

Zhong Xinyi paused in her attempt to cover herself, as if she had done something foolish again.

She put her bag down slightly, revealing half of her pretty face, and felt a little embarrassed looking at the man's ambiguous smile.

Her eyes flickered, and she gave a stiff smile. "Oh, that's good then."

Good heavens, what is she saying?

She thought to herself with annoyance, "Zhong Xinyi, you shouldn't have said that."

Her home was at the end of the village, where only a few scattered households lived, so she didn't have to worry about her man's flashy car causing a sensation.

Suddenly, her mud-brick house gradually came into view, and Zhong Xinyi couldn't hide her excitement, "I've arrived at my home."

I'll be able to see my grandma soon, but I wonder what she's doing now?

Gu Shaokai looked in the direction the little woman was pointing and frowned slightly.

Has she always lived in a place like this?

As soon as the car stopped, Zhong Xinyi couldn't wait to unbuckle her seatbelt and get out, running into the yard while calling out her grandmother's name.

"Grandma, Grandma, your favorite little darling is back."

Gu Shaokai followed closely behind, listening to the little woman's cheerful laughter. So this was the real her!

How many more facets of her are waiting to be discovered?

Granny Yuan was crocheting insoles with needle and thread inside the house. Even when she accidentally pricked her finger, she didn't even blink.

Next to it was a stack of insoles, some big and some small, all of which could be sold for money.

Suddenly, I seemed to hear Xiaoyi's voice. I was momentarily distracted and accidentally threaded the needle incorrectly.

Upon closer listening, the granddaughter's voice became clearer and clearer.

Only then did Granny Yuan realize that her granddaughter had definitely returned.

She quickly replied, "Yes, Grandma is here."

He quickly hid the needle and thread in his hand so that the girl wouldn't see it, but he didn't notice the stack of insoles.

She tiptoed into the yard, and then a small body hugged her.

Grandma Yuan immediately came to her senses, turned around and hugged her granddaughter, laughing loudly.

"Wow, you're on your monthly break?"

It's been almost a month since I last saw Guai Guai.

It seems people really do get old; they can't even remember something so important.

Zhong Xinyi inhaled her grandmother's scent deeply, slowly stepped away from her grandmother's embrace, and smiled mischievously, "Well, I want to give you a surprise."

"You silly girl," Granny Yuan said, both amused and exasperated. "Are you hungry? Grandma will make you a bowl of noodles with two poached eggs."

Over the past month, she has accumulated quite a few eggs, just waiting for her son to come back so he can eat them.

Granny Yuan suddenly felt a chill of fear. "Didn't Grandma tell you to come back the next day if it was too late?"

It was getting dark, and it was dangerous for her, a girl, to travel back alone.

Zhong Xinyi scratched her head, "Grandma, I..."

Before she could finish speaking, Grandma pointed curiously at Gu Shaokai and asked, "Hey, who is this young man?"

Gu Shaokai smiled faintly, trying his best to make a good impression on his grandmother.

"Grandma, hello. My name is Gu Shaokai, and I'm Xinyi's friend."

As night fell, Granny Yuan could not see clearly, so she moved her bound feet closer to look.

My eyes lit up – what a handsome young man!

Granny Yuan was slightly taken aback, then a hint of a smile appeared in her phoenix eyes, "You brought my little darling back?"

As he spoke, his eyes kept moving back and forth between the two of them.

She felt that their relationship wasn't just that of friends.

It was the first time that someone other than her granddaughter had called her "Grandma," and Grandma Yuan felt a little strange.

Good boy?

Gu Shaokai kept repeating to himself, then raised his eyes to look at the little woman in front of him. Wasn't she just a good girl?

Zhong Xinyi secretly gave the man a warning look, afraid that he might let something slip.

He called his grandmother very affectionately just now.

Gu Shaokai chuckled inwardly, but kept a straight face. "Grandma, it was late this time, so I brought Xinyi back."

Granny Yuan kept saying "okay," and affectionately took his hand, "So that's how it is. Then I'll call you Xiao Gu."

"Grandma, you can call me whatever you like."

Gu Shaokai smiled faintly, knowing that his grandmother had a good first impression of him.

"Let's go inside first. You must be tired and hungry after rushing back all the way," Granny Yuan said cheerfully. "Grandma will make you two bowls of noodles. You can try Grandma's cooking later."

Gu Shaokai: "Then I'm in for a treat."

Zhong Xinyi rolled her eyes inwardly as she listened to the man's solicitous words.

She could only watch helplessly as her grandmother brought the man into the house, leaving her outside in the cold wind.

A cool breeze blew by, and Zhong Xinyi shivered and quickly ran inside.

While her grandmother was cooking noodles in the kitchen, she secretly walked up to the man and whispered, "You'd better leave first thing tomorrow morning so the villagers don't see you."

She had a bad feeling; the man seemed to have come with premeditation.

Gu Shaokai lowered his eyes and nodded, deciding to appease the young woman for now; who could predict what would happen tomorrow?

"By the way, come with me for a moment."

"what?"

Why did you grab her hand when you could have talked things out?

Zhong Xinyi stood reluctantly at the door, and when the man opened the trunk, she stared in astonishment.

Upon closer inspection, she asked, "When...when did you buy this?"

Gu Shaokai unloaded the things from the car and closed the trunk. "Come on, give me a hand and move everything inside."

Seeing the man calmly take the things inside, she quickly followed behind and called out, "Hey, you haven't answered my question yet!"

Gu Shaokai found himself quite enjoying the little woman's nagging in his ear.

He turned around and gently pulled her into his arms. In that instant, the sweet fragrance emanating from the woman stirred his heart.

"Let me go! Grandma is still in the kitchen."

If her grandmother sees this, she'll be in deep trouble.

A kerosene lamp was lit in the kitchen, and Grandma's eyesight was failing her; she was going to help.

"Let me hold you for a while."

Just a moment ago she was giving her a loose hug, but now she's embracing her completely.

Zhong Xinyi smiled slyly and stepped on the man's shoe.

The man's face darkened instantly. "You..."

Taking advantage of the moment he relaxed, I quickly moved a few steps away from him.

"Serves you right, who told you to hug me?"

After saying that, he quickly dashed to the kitchen.

She didn't use much force; the man was obviously faking it.

Gu Shaokai leaned against the wall to ease the pain, looked down at the little woman's footprints on his leather shoes, and suddenly smiled.
