Chapter 192 Granny Yang Returns to the Countryside

After leaving the newspaper office, An'an kept glancing at her mother, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.

Su Jingjing also noticed An An's probing gaze, patted his head, and smiled at him.

Li Cheng'an felt relieved. No matter what, she was still his mother.

The little one tilted his head back, blinking his eyes, and asked, "Mommy, what are you and your brother talking about?"

Su Jingjing's lips curved into a smile. "Nothing. Is there any snack you'd like to buy?"

Upon arriving at the entrance of the supply and marketing cooperative, the little guy unconsciously stopped and stared intently inside.

"Mommy, can Yuanyuan buy a little bit?"

He even extended his pinky finger, seemingly afraid that his mother would disagree.

"Let's go in and pick something out with your brother."

Su Jingjing led one child into the supply and marketing cooperative, holding one in each hand.

Today is the day before school starts, and there are mostly children there.

The two children were quite good-looking, and as soon as they entered the supply and marketing cooperative, they attracted frequent attention from the people inside.

Li Yuanyuan had never seen such a big scene before, and she carefully hid behind her mother's legs.

"Mother."

Su Jingjing quickly hugged the child and gently comforted her, "Baby, don't be afraid, they mean no harm."

"There are so many delicious things to eat, come and choose with your brother."

Only snacks can distract the little guy.

Li Yuanyuan took her brother's hand and went to buy snacks together.

Ten minutes later, Su Jingjing glanced at the snacks the little guy had chosen.

There are three items in total: hawthorn candy, candy, and walnut shortbread.

Since she had come all this way, she agreed to buy it.

Finally, I bought some more meat and vegetables and then took the bus back.

Fortunately, the journey back wasn't too bumpy, and Su Jingjing didn't feel dizzy.

Back at the residential compound, it wasn't lunchtime yet. Everyone was under the big tree, and a group of children were playing.

Seeing the mother and her two children carrying bags, it was clear they had gone shopping, and I was immediately filled with envy.

Su Jingjing has always been the envy of the entire family compound. Not only is she beautiful, but she is also deeply loved by her husband. Aren't these the things that every woman longs to have?

When Liang Dapang saw An'an, he immediately dropped the sandbag he was holding and ran over, "An'an, where did you go this morning?"

Li Cheng'an frowned, but said casually, "I'm going shopping with my mother."

Liang Dapang stared intently at the bag in Su Jingjing's hand, as if trying to see right through it.

Su Jingjing felt a pang of annoyance; now everyone knew she had gone to the city again.

I nodded to them and then took the child up the stairs.

After the mother and her two children disappeared at the top of the stairs, the woman under the big tree began to chatter.

"Tsk tsk tsk, that's real skill. Those bags of stuff must cost at least thirty yuan."

These are all conservative estimates; Wu Xiuying seemed to see that the bag was full of food.

Zhou Qian pouted and chimed in, "It's because our men are incompetent."

Everyone was noncommittal, but they also knew that different people have different fates. Their husbands worked hard outside, toiling away every day, just to earn a salary to support the family.

Ge Hong stood by the living room window, watching the commotion downstairs. Although she couldn't hear their voices, she was sure they were praising Su Jingjing again.

Seeing Ge Hong standing by the window enjoying the breeze, Granny Yang couldn't help but stop what she was doing and whispered, "Little Hong, would you like some water?"

Ge Hong's thoughts were interrupted, and she turned to give her mother-in-law a fierce look.

"No need. What else can I do besides drink water every day?"

Just then, Yang Wei walked in and overheard Ge Hong's terrible attitude towards her mother.

His expression immediately darkened, and he slammed the door shut, startling the person inside.

Ge Hong patted her chest, feeling a little embarrassed that her husband had overheard her words.

But he scared himself, and shouted nervously, "Yang Wei, aren't you afraid of scaring your son?"

As she spoke, she even puffed out her belly, which wasn't showing any signs of pregnancy, making her look rather comical.

Seeing her son clench his fists, Granny Yang quickly grabbed his hand and shook it gently.

"Son, why are you back so early today? Go keep your wife company, Mom will cook lunch for you."

Yang Wei knew that his mother was worried about the baby in Ge Hong's belly.

In the few days since her mother came to the family compound, Ge Hong's temper has worsened. She not only has a bad attitude, but also verbally abuses her mother.

If he continues to tolerate this, he is unworthy of being a son or daughter.

Besides, the baby in Ge Hong's belly might not even be a son.

He grabbed Ge Hong's hand and pulled her into the bedroom, not forgetting to lock the door behind him. "Come in with me."

Ge Hong exclaimed in surprise, having never seen her husband so angry before, "Yang Wei, what are you doing? You're hurting me."

Quickly ask your mother-in-law in the kitchen for help.

Grandma Yang rushed out of the kitchen anxiously with a spatula in her hand and gently knocked on the young couple's bedroom door.

With a worried look on his face, he said, "Awei, Xiaohong is carrying your child. Let's talk this out and not hurt Xiaohong."

Grandma Yang was afraid that something might happen to her hard-won grandson.

Yang Wei called out to the door, "Mom, you don't need to worry about it."

Granny Yang was startled and paced around in circles. "Oh dear, what should I do?"

In the bedroom

Yang Wei released Ge Hong from his restraints and faced her angrily.

"What are you going to do?" Ge Hong twisted her wrist. "If you've got the guts, hit me in the stomach."

This is their Yang family's flesh and blood; they don't believe Yang Wei would actually dare to do such a thing.

Yang Wei finally saw through Ge Hong's smirk; how could he have been so blinded back then?

After taking a breath, she said, "The baby in your belly has stabilized, and I'll send my mom back tomorrow."

If my mother stays any longer, she will only suffer more humiliation.

Ge Hong firmly refused, "No way."

It must be said that this so-called mother-in-law is indeed quite skilled at taking care of people.

"Ask yourself honestly, do you ever treat my mother as your mother-in-law?"

Ge Hong choked. She didn't think she had gone too far. Wasn't that how every family treated their rural mother-in-law?

This is the difference between people from the countryside and people from the city.

However, she didn't dare say this to Yang Wei's face.

"Don't you know that pregnant women are often irritable?"

"If your mother goes back, who will take care of me?"

We can't expect her mother to come.

Yang Wei chuckled, "I'm not discussing this with you, I'm informing you."

After saying that, he slammed the door and left.

Ge Hong was stunned and listened to the conversation between the mother and son outside, as if she were the outsider.

Grandma Yang didn't actually want to leave the family compound. Although she was scolded by Ge Hong every day, she was happy to be able to live with her grandson.

Unfortunately, Ah Wei had already made his decision.

The next day, before Ge Hong even got out of bed, Yang Wei took his mother to the station and asked his older brother to pick her up at the designated time.

When Ge Hong got up, she saw that the pot was empty. She subconsciously called for her mother-in-law, but no one responded for a long time before she realized what was going on.

My mother-in-law has gone back to the countryside!
