"Uncle Wei, please sit down and eat with us."
"No, no, Uncle Wei has already eaten."
Hearing Uncle Wei say that, Li Cheng'an had no choice but to give up.
She ate while taking care of her younger sister.
Li Yuanyuan had a poor appetite today and only ate a small half bowl of rice.
She looked at her brother with a pitiful expression, "Brother, Yuanyuan can't eat anymore."
She wanted to eat her mother's cooking.
Li Cheng'an understood his sister's thoughts and did not force her.
"Okay, give it to your brother, and you can have some soup."
After saying that, he brought the soup to his younger sister.
Li Yuanyuan sipped her soup in small sips, just like a little hamster.
Old Wei watched with envy.
Oh my, these two kids don't need any care at all.
Li Cheng'an quickly finished the rice in his bowl.
"Uncle Wei, we're full."
"Okay, Uncle Wei will take you to take a nap. You have class in the afternoon."
Seeing that this wasn't the way home, Li Cheng'an quickly said, "Uncle Wei, I want to go home and sleep."
"But there's no one at home to take care of you."
“It’s alright, I can take care of my sister, Uncle Wei, you don’t need to worry.”
Old Wei thought for a moment, "Alright, do you have a key?"
"have."
His mother had given him a key before.
Old Wei dropped the two children off at their doorstep and then left.
Li Cheng'an took out his key from his bag and easily opened the door.
The living room was quiet; no one was home.
Li Yuanyuan ran around the room, saying, "Brother, Mom and Dad aren't home."
"They'll be back tonight."
Li Cheng'an concealed his emotions and comforted his sister.
"Come on, let your brother take you to wash up, and then we'll take a nap. Don't let Mom worry."
"good."
Lying in bed, Li Cheng'an couldn't fall asleep at all.
The younger sister was too young to understand what was going on, but she knew that her father must have been injured.
And so he kept his eyes open until two o'clock.
Then I woke up my younger sister, and after a quick wash, I put on my schoolbag and went out.
Military Hospital
The surgery was still in full swing, and Su Jingjing and her group had been waiting for more than two hours.
Li Hanchen had just returned from having his blood drawn. Even the strongest person would look somewhat pale after having so much blood drawn at once.
Chen Shufang looked at her eldest son with concern, "Hanchen, how are you feeling? Do you want to go and rest?"
"Mom, I'm fine."
Li Hanting didn't feel dizzy at all, and instead comforted his mother, "Mom, Hanting will be fine."
"Yes, Mom believes you."
With so many people waiting outside, she believed her son sensed it.
Moreover, his happy life with Jingjing had just begun, so how could he bear to give up such hard-won happiness?
Liu Yang brought back food from outside, his eyes slightly red and his clothes a mess.
He also bears responsibility for the regimental commander's injury.
"Commander Gu, Commander Li, the food is back."
Li Yuan snapped out of his daze. "Okay, thank you for your trouble, Xiao Liu."
"Sir, this is what I should do."
Li Yuan instructed Xiao Liu to distribute the food to everyone.
Lunchtime had passed, but no one felt hungry at all.
Su Jingjing took the lunchbox and said "thank you" to Xiao Liu.
Liu Yang silently shook his head.
This was the first time he had ever seen his sister-in-law so worried about the regimental commander.
Li Yuan brought the lunchbox to his wife. "Shufang, are you hungry? Let's eat something first."
Chen Shufang remained unmoved, her eyes fixed on the operating room.
"I'm not hungry."
Li Yuan sighed and gave his eldest son a wink.
Li Hanchen received his father's hint and said to his mother, "Mom, if you don't eat, Hanting will feel bad too."
Chen Shufang then reacted; she couldn't let Han Ting worry too.
"Okay, I'll eat it."
He patted Jingjing's hand and said, "Jingjing, you should eat some too."
Su Jingjing thought about how she would have to take care of A Ting later, so even though she didn't have an appetite, she still had to eat.
"good."
Li Yuan finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Then everyone ate their meal in silence.
Half an hour later, the lights in the operating room were finally turned off, and then the door opened, and Dean Zhou came out.
Everyone excitedly stepped forward and asked, "Dean Zhou, how is Han Ting?"
After asking the question, he looked nervously at Dean Zhou, afraid of hearing bad news.
"The surgery was successful, and the bullet was removed."
Zhou Guozheng also breathed a sigh of relief, "As long as there are no unexpected situations tonight, we can consider the danger period over."
Chen Shufang finally smiled happily, "Thank you, Dean Zhou."
Su Jingjing's eyes were also filled with tears. Ah Ting was alright.
Li Yuan sincerely thanked him, "Dean Zhou, thank you."
"You're welcome, it's what I should do."
Li Hanting was taken to a ward, and everyone else followed.
Su Jingjing and her mother-in-law nestled together on either side.
Chen Shufang felt terrible looking at her son lying in the hospital bed.
No matter what, as long as everyone is alright, that's all that matters.
"Han Chen, go home first. Mom is worried about Qian Qian being home alone."
"You can go back and rest for a while, and come back tomorrow."
Li Hanchen was worried about his wife being home alone, so he agreed to his mother's suggestion.
After her son left, Chen Shufang looked at her daughter-in-law and said softly, "Jingjing, An'an and Yuanyuan will be out of school soon. Go back now, or they will panic."
Su Jingjing wanted to say something, but her mother-in-law stopped her.
"With Mom watching over things here, Ah Ting will be fine."
"The two children are used to you being around. If you're not home for a while, they'll start to overthink things."
Su Jingjing glanced at Ah Ting, "Okay."
Ah Ting, I'll come over later.
Liu Yang eventually drove her home.
Uncle Gu was also in the car; he had matters to attend to at the military base.
Back at the residential compound, it was quiet downstairs, not a soul in sight.
"Sister-in-law, call me anytime if you need anything."
"Xiao Liu, I'd like to go to the hospital again later."
"Sister-in-law, no problem."
After Xiao Liu drove away, Su Jingjing followed him upstairs.
The children will be dismissed from school in half an hour.
She opened the door and went straight to the children's bedroom.
Looking at the wrinkles on the bed, it was clear that they had taken a nap at home at noon.
Next, Su Jingjing went into the kitchen and got busy.
Li Cheng'an walked home hand in hand with his sister. In order not to worry his sister, he had concealed his emotions all afternoon.
"Brother, do you think Mom is back?"
"My brother doesn't know either. Let's hurry home and check."
Then the brother and sister quickened their pace, and when Liang Dapang came out, they were nowhere to be seen.
"That's strange. Where did An'an and Yuanyuan go?"
When I got back to the apartment building, I saw Aunt Huang coming out from the backyard.
Huang Qiurong chuckled, "Did you come back on purpose because you heard your mother was back?"
