Chapter 25 Liang Haishan Teaches His Wife

A seemingly nonsensical remark puzzled Li Hanting. He couldn't understand why Su Jingjing's mood was fluctuating so much all of a sudden, as if he had done something wrong.

Seeing the quilts washed so clean and still emitting a faint fragrance, I couldn't help but ask the question that had been bothering me.

He placed his fist slightly against his mouth, seemingly casually, and asked, "Um...didn't I wash the blankets in my room?"

Su Jingjing was patting the blankets, not noticing the man's expression, and casually replied, "There might be important documents in your room, so I shouldn't go in."

Li Hanting really wanted to slap himself twice, realizing he had shot himself in the foot.

Seeing Su Jingjing struggling to carry the quilt, he reached out and took it from her, saying, "I'll go hang the clothes out to dry."

Before Su Jingjing could react, the man had already walked out the door.

broken!

At this time, many women in the residential compound gathered under the big tree to cool off. If they saw this, there would be no shortage of gossip.

When Li Hanting went downstairs, he ran into Wang Ming. Wang Ming looked at him with a surprised expression, and upon closer inspection, there was even a hint of sympathy.

He understood what they were thinking, but he had never cared about such gossip.

Wang Ming pointed to the clothes in the bucket, pretending not to know anything, "Commander Li, are you going to hang up the clothes?"

Li Hanting replied without blinking, "Mm."

My goodness, Commander Li is truly a top-notch man. Not only is he a master at growing vegetables, but he also seems to be quite good at housework.

If we're talking about the most remarkable woman in the entire family compound, it has to be Su Jingjing, who managed to get Commander Li completely under her thumb.

Thankfully, Qiu Rong said Su Jingjing had changed somewhat, but it seems she's still just as lazy.

When Li Hanting came out of the stairwell carrying the bucket, the woman's voice under the big tree stopped abruptly. When she saw the mountain of clothes, she looked at each other and gasped.

Could it be what they're thinking?

As expected, Commander Li walked to the clothesline to hang clothes in front of them all, and at that moment, everyone's face showed an expression of envy.

They didn't dare to whisper in front of Commander Li; they just stared intently at his every move with wide eyes.

It's infuriating to compare yourself to others. Wu Xiuying felt like she was being stabbed in the heart. Su Jingjing was right when she said that she was lucky. Not only was she born into a good family, but she also married a good man.

After Li Hanting left, they started discussing it like a pot had exploded.

Someone spoke first, their tone tinged with jealousy, "I heard that Commander Li just returned from training, but I didn't expect that before he even entered his house, Su Jingjing would be making him do chores."

Another person chimed in with a complaint, "My husband acts like a king when he comes home, and I have to serve him tea and water."

"Xiuying, it seems your Haishan went out for training too. Has he come back yet?"

Wu Xiuying choked on her words. Could she say that he hadn't come back yet?

Liang Haishan is sleeping soundly at home.

But she couldn't let them laugh at her, so she smiled and replied, "He's not back yet, but men train hard, and we wives should be understanding."

Everyone knows she's making veiled criticisms.

However, he was immediately proven wrong.

As soon as he finished speaking, Liang Haishan's loud voice rang out from the second-floor window, "Wu Xiuying, what are you doing downstairs? Come back and make lunch. Our son will be home from school soon."

Wu Xiuying's face stiffened, her lips twitched, and she was too embarrassed to look at their expressions. She hurriedly said, "I'll go back and cook first," and then quickly ran towards the stairwell.

The next second, she could faintly hear their laughter, and she quickened her pace.

Even in public, Liang Haishan didn't give her any face.

Wu Xiuying had nowhere to vent her frustration, so she slammed the door shut, which prompted the man to curse repeatedly.

"What are you doing? You've broken the door. You'll have to fix it yourself."

That old hag has a terrible temper; I don't know who offended her.

All she does all day is gossip; she's the most well-informed person in the entire residential compound.

Wu Xiuying dared not resist, but secretly rolled her eyes at the man behind his back.

Suddenly, Liang Haishan remembered what the regimental commander had said, and his face immediately darkened. He sat in his chair and stared intently into Wu Xiuying's eyes.

"I heard you've been gossiping about Su Jingjing?"

"Whether someone runs for show or to lose weight is none of your business. Don't gossip about it, or I'll send you back to the countryside."

Liang Haishan felt ashamed whenever he thought of the reprimanding words from Commander Li.

Normally, she couldn't help but feel intimidated by Commander Li's dark face, let alone talk to him directly. This wretched woman didn't know her place and insisted on provoking Su Jingjing. No matter how bad their relationship was, Su Jingjing still held the title of Commander Li's wife.

Knowing she was in the wrong, Wu Xiuying's arrogant and domineering attitude immediately subsided, and she was even more afraid that Haishan would send her back to the countryside.

"Did Commander Li contact you?"

Oh no, will her Haishan get a hard time?

"Yes, he only gave me a subtle hint during training yesterday."

Liang Haishan wasn't worried about being targeted. Everyone knew Commander Li's character; he was famously selfless.

However, Su Jingjing's position in Commander Li's heart may be different now.

"I'm not asking you to curry favor with Su Jingjing, but I'm asking you not to gossip about her."

To put it bluntly, Liang Haishan said, "Otherwise, that old hag won't learn her lesson. If I lose my official hat one day, the three of us will be left to starve."

Wu Xiuying is a typical rural woman who is illiterate. If it weren't for her husband's position as a company commander, she would still be toiling in the fields in the countryside to make a living.

Every woman in the village envied her; not only could she give birth to a son, but she could also be an official's wife.

Upon hearing that her husband's job was in jeopardy, she was frantic with worry. She had wanted to slap herself countless times, wondering why she couldn't control her tongue.

However, she absolutely refused to admit that she was the one who started it. "Haishan, I didn't start it that day. I just went along with it."

After being married for several years, how could Liang Haishan not know Wu Xiuying's little thoughts? But today he had scared her, so she should be able to calm down for a while.

Su Jingjing was too embarrassed to go downstairs, so she stood by the window looking out at the courtyard. From this angle, she could see everyone's every move clearly.

Just as she expected, the man's actions caused quite a stir.

She could already foresee the women in the family compound gossiping again tomorrow.

Although she wasn't afraid, she didn't want to become too famous in the family compound.

Li Hanting, Li Hanting, you really know how to cause her trouble.

The man hung the clothes to dry, and without even having lunch, he went out to work again.

Su Jingjing couldn't help but wonder, what was his real purpose in rushing straight home?

At noon after school, she told the two children that Li Hanting had come home. The two children were overjoyed, and even An'an, who usually had a stern face, became much more lively.

However, it also made her realize a fact: if she divorced Li Hanting in the future, her two children would definitely not choose her.

That's good too. She's taken good care of her two children, and they're both healthy and chubby. It's time for her to step away and leave.
