The following day, the darkness dissipated, and a dazzling light appeared.
Four people were lying on a large bed. Li Hanting was squeezed on the edge of the bed and was about to fall off when suddenly a pair of small feet slapped his face. He opened his eyes abruptly and carefully moved the round feet away.
At some point, Yuanyuan had put her feet up on the headboard, but she seemed unable to support herself and fell off. As for An'an, she was sleeping soundly with Su Jingjing in her arms.
Li Hanting rubbed his temples. The thunder and lightning last night were terrifying; the two children were so scared that they ran over to sleep barefoot.
They didn't lock the door at night, afraid that their child wouldn't be able to find them in the middle of the night.
She quietly got up, changed her clothes, covered them with blankets, and then left the room.
Only a slight wind could be heard outside the window, but the ground was a mess.
Li Hanting went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Su Jingjing slowly opened her eyes. There seemed to be something pressing on her chest. Looking down, she saw An'an's head, with Yuanyuan next to her.
She then recalled what had happened last night.
In order not to wake the two children, she did not move.
However, the noise outside the window had subsided considerably, and she knew the typhoon had passed.
An'an realized she was lying on top of her mother and quickly sat up. "Mom, I'm sorry, did I hurt you?"
"Mom is fine."
Su Jingjing gently patted An'an's head, "Did you sleep well last night?"
The two children were so frightened last night that their faces turned pale. She comforted them for a long time before they finally fell asleep.
An An nodded contentedly, feeling a little embarrassed. He realized how comfortable it was to sleep while hugging his mother.
He finally understood why his father liked to monopolize his mother.
Yuan Yuan heard the two talking, opened her eyes groggily, and said in a spoiled tone, "Mommy, hug me."
Su Jingjing reached out and picked her up. The little one seemed to be still asleep, her little head moving around as if she was looking for a comfortable position.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open.
Li Hanting, dressed in military uniform, stood at the door with a serious expression.
"Honey, I've cooked breakfast. You can bring the kids out to eat later."
Su Jingjing's heart tightened. "And what about you?"
"Something has come up at the military base, and I need to go there now."
Su Jingjing bit her lip; no matter how reluctant she was, she couldn't stop the man from leaving.
"Then you need to be careful."
Going out at this critical juncture must be for something urgent.
"Honey, let's get up and have breakfast."
Su Jingjing found them clothes, and the brother and sister put them on voluntarily.
Although Yuanyuan was a little slow, she was still able to put her clothes on neatly.
Su Jingjing brought out breakfast. The man had cooked noodles again today, with a few greens and a poached egg.
After washing up, Yuanyuan curiously opened the window, and a gust of cold wind blew in. She coughed twice instinctively.
Seeing this, An'an quickly closed the window, saying, "Little sister, you can't be exposed to the wind."
The little guy stuck out his tongue. "Brother, I understand."
After saying that, Dada ran to the dining table, took a deep breath, and exclaimed, "It smells so good!"
Su Jingjing served the two bowls of noodles, and they ate quietly.
After finishing breakfast, Yuanyuan couldn't stay still, so she leaned against the window and looked downstairs.
"Mom, I want to go downstairs to play. Xiaoyun and Big Fatty are there too."
Su Jingjing agreed, helped them put their hats on, and then went downstairs.
There are broken branches and fallen leaves everywhere downstairs, but someone will come to clean them up later.
"Jingjing, come over here."
He Zhaodi waved to her.
Su Jingjing gave the children a few words of advice and then walked towards He Zhaodi.
Before I even got there, I could hear them boasting.
"The wind was so strong last night, it was howling all night long. Even my usually brave Da Pang was too scared to sleep."
Wu Xiuying was mending clothes with a needle and thread.
He Zhaodi chimed in, "My Xiaoyun was the same way. I had to cover her ears before she finally fell asleep."
Turning to Su Jingjing, he asked, "Jingjing, were An'an and Yuanyuan scared last night too?"
"Mm." Su Jingjing nodded.
Wu Xiuying glanced around and said, "This typhoon is quite strong. I heard that some houses in the villages below have collapsed."
"The army then sent people to provide support, and my family member Haishan also went there."
Su Jingjing immediately understood; it turned out that A-Ting had gone out to provide assistance.
Wu Xiuying looked around mysteriously and said, "Do you know what? Ge Hong almost miscarried last night and is in the hospital now."
Everyone immediately became interested. "What's going on?"
"I heard that she had an argument with Yang Wei last night and accidentally bumped into the corner of the table."
Zhou Qian clicked her tongue, "Ever since Ge Hong got pregnant, the two of them have been arguing every day, without a moment's peace."
Su Jingjing listened silently, not participating in their conversation.
After the typhoon, everything returned to normal.
The kindergarten children hadn't seen each other for two days, so they came together early in the morning to chat.
Only An'an sat quietly in her seat, staring blankly into space, occasionally glancing outside.
Lin Xin'ai didn't come in until class started.
As soon as get out of class ended, he called out to the teacher who was walking out.
"An'an, what's wrong?"
The Chinese language teacher, who was also the homeroom teacher, asked gently with her head down.
She was quite curious about what the clever An'an wanted to ask her.
An'an greeted politely, "Teacher, did Lin Xin'ai take the day off today?"
"yes."
She also expressed her regret when Lin Xin'ai was mentioned.
As expected, he continued to press for answers.
"Do you know why she took the day off?"
"It seems that her thatched house collapsed during this typhoon."
It collapsed?
That's serious.
An An was distracted all day; he was worried about Lin Xin'ai and didn't know if she still had a place to stay.
Suddenly remembering that Lin Xin'ai had a younger cousin in the kindergarten class, she quickly ran over to find him.
Zhan Zerun said loudly, "I recognize you, you are my sister's classmate."
An'an breathed a sigh of relief. "Your sister took the day off today. Do you know where she's staying now?"
“My maternal grandmother and sister live in my house.”
Zhan Zerun spoke clearly, then frowned the next second, "Grandma's house collapsed, and Mom is angry at home."
An An pursed her lips, her brows furrowed.
At that moment, in a dilapidated house belonging to the Zhan family, Lin Xin'ai brought in hot water.
"Grandma, have some water."
Grandma Zhan shakily took the bowl, looked at her granddaughter's wrinkled little hands, and couldn't help but sigh.
"Xinxin, you've really suffered."
Lin Xin'ai put her hands behind her back and forced a smile. "Grandma, I'm happy as long as I can be with you."
"Go to school this afternoon, don't miss your studies. Your uncle is at home, your aunt won't dare to do anything."
After they arrived yesterday, the daughter-in-law kept throwing things around and complaining.
She's an old hag, it doesn't matter what happens to her, but she's still young and needs at least a place to stay.
"Grandma, I can study at home without falling behind in my studies."
Lin Xin'ai smiled and took out her textbook from her schoolbag.
She mustn't cry, otherwise her grandmother would feel even worse.
