Chapter 36 Buying Storybooks

As Su Jingjing led Yuanyuan past a women's clothing store, an unfamiliar voice rang in their ears.

"Miss Su, you've finally come to buy clothes?"

Before Su Jingjing could react, the proprietress pulled her into the shop.

Looking at the proprietress's familiar features, she couldn't remember her at all. "You are..."

The proprietress clapped her hands and sighed, "Miss Su, you really have a bad memory. It's only been a week since you last came, and you've already forgotten about me. I've been talking about you every day."

Then, with a big smile, she said, "Look, the store has just received some nice new styles, and I've reserved them all for you."

Su Jingjing finally remembered and smiled awkwardly. How could she have forgotten this? The original owner was a regular customer at the store; there wasn't a single women's clothing store owner who didn't know her.

She just returned clothes here last week, so how could she possibly buy clothes today? Besides, the styles here aren't very good.

He subtly withdrew his hand, bent down and picked up Yuanyuan, trying to dampen the landlady's enthusiasm.

The proprietress was completely bewildered. "This little girl is..."

No, there's a little boy standing behind Miss Su. He looks serious, as if he's unhappy with her actions.

Considering that Miss Su had mentioned she was married, the proprietress seemed to have guessed it.

"This isn't your child, is it?"

She looked on in disbelief. Su Jingjing, a woman weighing over 100 pounds, had actually given birth to two such adorable children. Her husband must be very handsome.

Holding Yuanyuan in her arms and An'an by the hand, Su Jingjing smiled at the proprietress and said, "Proprietress, you are truly insightful. They are both my own children."

Before the shop owner could process what was happening, he continued, "I mainly came today to buy clothes for the two of them. I need to catch my bus home later."

After saying that, he whispered in the landlady's ear, "Actually, it was my husband who assigned me this task, and I didn't dare to disobey."

The implication is that she brought her child out to buy clothes, but at the same time, the child was also watching her, so she didn't dare to spend money recklessly.

Sure enough, the proprietress fell for it and said with a heavy heart, "Oh, then come back another day, I'll save your clothes for you."

Su Jingjing nodded and led the two children out without stopping. Only after leaving the mall did she pat her chest and breathe a sigh of relief.

Li Yuanyuan was confused. "Mom, is someone chasing us?"

Su Jingjing touched the cold sweat on Yuanyuan's forehead and smiled awkwardly, "No, Mom just wanted to walk faster."

"Hmph...you just know how to lie to your sister."

Li Cheng'an muttered to himself, but only Su Jingjing could hear him clearly.

Su Jingjing glanced at him, her eyes conveying, "Didn't I perform well today?"

Li Cheng'an looked up and stared directly at her, blinking as if to say that her performance was just so-so.

Li Yuanyuan kept looking at her mother and then at her brother, both of them engrossed in their own thoughts, and no one paid any attention to her, which made her unhappy.

She pouted and asked, "Mom, what are you and my brother talking about?"

Su Jingjing knew her little girl was jealous, so she quickly turned around, kissed her cheek, and said gently, "Mommy is asking if your brother is tired."

The little girl then realized that her brother had been carrying the bag the whole time, while she was in her mother's arms, and they must have been very tired. She realized how inconsiderate she had been.

"Brother, are you tired? Yuanyuan will come down and help you carry it."

After saying that, she turned to look at her mother and said, "Mom, you're tired. Yuanyuan wants to get down and walk."

Su Jingjing finally understood that there is a kind of exhaustion called "I think you are tired".

But the outside world is a mixed bag, so how could she feel at ease?

"There are too many people outside, it's better for Mom to hold you."

"An'an, can you still lift it?"

A few bags are no problem for Li Cheng'an. "I'm fine. Just take good care of your sister."

Although he really wanted his sister to come down, there were too many people outside, and it wouldn't be good if she got bumped or knocked over.

Su Jingjing carried Yuanyuan and walked slowly forward. Yuanyuan was inevitably curious along the way, and Su Jingjing patiently answered all her questions.

Li Cheng'an listened quietly beside her, and realized that his mother's voice was so beautiful.

Passing by a bookstore, Su Jingjing suddenly stopped, eager to go in. "An'an, Yuanyuan, do you want to go in and take a look?"

"There are many storybooks inside, they are very interesting. You and your sister should read more books in the future."

The two children are at a curious age, and reading more books will always be beneficial.

Su Jingjing, a mother who came to the profession later in life, also followed suit.

She didn't even think about waiting for An'an to nod; that kid was so arrogant, he would never agree with anything she said.

"Yuanyuan, go inside with your mother and take a look."

After saying that, he put Yuanyuan down, took her hand and walked inside. As for the proud An'an, she would definitely follow along happily.

On weekends, bookstores are a paradise for children, with kids of all ages, though they are usually accompanied by adults.

"Here, I'll take the clothes. Go and pick some out with your sister."

Su Jingjing carried several bags, her eyes fixed on the two children, their expressions clearly visible.

An'an was engrossed in reading a thick book, though it was unclear whether she understood it or not. Yuanyuan, on the other hand, was simply looking at the illustrations, her eyes crinkling with laughter.

"Mom, this is nice, do you want to look at it together?"

The little guy insisted on watching it with her, and Su Jingjing seriously matched the little guy's expression.

"It's so beautiful, let's buy it and take it home to look at it slowly."

"Mom, take these. Go pick out two more books."

Hearing that she would buy it and take it home to see, Li Yuanyuan smiled so broadly that her eyes disappeared, and continued to happily select items, while An An walked to the other side. Seeing that he was so focused, Su Jingjing did not go over to disturb him.

After about twenty minutes, Su Jingjing had five books in her hands, and then she suggested that Yuanyuan go and call her brother.

Seeing An'an holding two thick books, Su Jingjing's lips twitched. Could he understand such professional material?

"May I buy these two books?"

It was rare to see An'an back down, and Su Jingjing felt elated. How could she refuse?

"Of course, let's go pay the bill together with Mom."

An'an's two books and Yuanyuan's five small books cost a total of eight yuan. Indeed, knowledge is priceless.

Just as she was about to leave, she inadvertently glanced at the paper and pens placed in the corner, and Su Jingjing bought a few more notebooks, pencils, and a pencil sharpener.

Two hours passed in the blink of an eye. The food they ate this morning had long been digested. Standing at the entrance of the bookstore, Su Jingjing suggested, "Are you hungry? How about we go get some noodle soup?"

After the question was asked, someone's stomach started growling.

"Hey, brother, are you hungry?" The little guy immediately started to dismantle his brother's support.

Su Jingjing saw An An's unnatural expression and tried her best to suppress her laughter.

"Ahem, since we're hungry, let's go get some noodle soup."

Su Jingjing took the children to a familiar noodle shop, settled the two children down, and then called the owner to bring two bowls of lean pork noodle soup.

Why two bowls? One bowl is for An'an, and the other is for her and Yuanyuan to share. She's on a diet right now, so even if she's really craving something, she has to control her eating and exercise.
