Chapter 378 Swinging on a Swing

Su Jingjing smiled and said, "Mom, isn't that a good thing? That way Dad won't be bored."

Yan Ling didn't argue this time.

Su Xiang, who had just finished a game of chess, stood up and said, "You guys play."

Someone shouted, "Old Su, let's play another round."

"No, thank you." Su Xiang waved his hand. "My daughter and son-in-law are here. We can play together another day."

He looked left and right, "Why didn't you bring the two children?"

Su Jingjing took her father's arm and said, "Dad, my mother-in-law took them back to the old house this morning."

"By the way, is Guodong feeling any better?"

Two days ago, Xiao Guodong had a high fever, and the whole family was very worried.

"I'm feeling a bit better today. Your sister-in-law is taking care of me at home."

Dong Qin could vaguely hear her mother-in-law's voice in the room. She put the baby in the cradle, opened the door, and came out.

"Jingjing, Hanting, you've arrived."

Seeing that the other person looked a bit haggard, Su Jingjing knew that she had been working hard these past two days.

Whenever her child gets sick, the mother doesn't get a moment's sleep all day.

"Sister-in-law, did Guodong bother you again today?"

Dong Qin smiled. "It's much better than yesterday."

When Xiao Guodong is unwell, he only recognizes his mother's embrace; he cries and fusses whenever anyone else tries to hold him.

Su Jingjing said with concern, "You should also take care to rest. Wait until Guodong is fully recovered before going back to work."

"Guodong is fine now, I want to go to work tomorrow." Dong Qin quickly declined, as the store was short-staffed and she felt embarrassed to stay any longer.

Seeing her resolute attitude, Su Jingjing didn't continue speaking.

It was almost lunchtime, and Yan Ling rolled up her sleeves to start preparing the vegetables.

"Mom, I'll cook today."

My mother-in-law has been cooking for me these past few days, and I feel a little bad about it.

Yan Ling stopped her hand, "Your task now is to take good care of Guodong. Jingjing and I will cook together."

Although her mother-in-law's tone was fierce, Dong Qin understood her good intentions.

The mother and daughter chatted while they were busy in the kitchen.

"Honey, did your mother-in-law go to the family compound this morning?"

Su Jingjing explained the whole story clearly.

Yan Ling paused, "You mean your son-in-law has been on a mission these past few days?"

"Why didn't you tell Mom earlier? I could have come over and helped you take care of the two kids. I was just sitting at home doing nothing anyway."

However, the mother-in-law did a good job, at least she was considerate of her daughter's hard work.

"Mom, I was just thinking that you and Dad still have to take care of Guodong." Su Jingjing said coquettishly. She wasn't unreasonable and couldn't keep taking care of her mother's little family forever.

Yan Ling thought about it and realized that her daughter's words made sense. "No matter what, if you need any help in the future, just tell Mom."

Su Jingjing nodded mischievously, "Mom, I'll definitely be good next time."

"You're such a chatterbox." Yan Ling looked at Su Jingjing with affection. "By the way, An'an and Yuanyuan's birthdays are coming up soon. What are your plans for celebrating this year?"

“You didn’t care much about the two children before, so you never participated in their birthdays. This time is different. Mom hopes you will put more effort into it.”

Su Jingjing: "We'll hold it at the old house, everyone can come and join in the fun."

"Your dad spends all his time at home working on his crafts to prepare birthday gifts for the two kids."

Yan Ling pointed to Su Xiang outside, whose son-in-law was now helping him.

"If they don't go home to their family compound by tomorrow, bring An'an and Yuanyuan to my house. I'll cook them a meal."

"Mom, I will."

Su Jingjing originally planned to stay at the old house for one night and bring the child over the next day to make her parents happy.

Yan Ling really felt that her daughter had become much more sensible.

With such a wonderful daughter, let's see who dares to gossip outside.

After lunch, Su Jingjing went to the shop.

Even during the lunch break, the store is still very busy.

She stood at the door for a while and watched. Ning Lan's work attitude was really good.

No matter what industry you're in, service is the most important thing.

"Xiao Lan".

Ning Lan turned her head, her eyes lighting up. "Sister Jingjing."

Su Jingjing glanced at the unopened lunchbox on the table and knew at a glance that it had been delivered by Ning Ya.

"You go eat first, I'll take care of the guests."

"How can that be, Sister Jingjing? I'm not hungry yet."

Ning Lan turned pale with fright and hurriedly waved her hands.

She comforted him, saying, "It's alright, eating is the important thing."

The middle-aged woman standing nearby beamed with joy, "Young lady, you've met a great boss."

Ning Lan told herself that Jingjing was a good person and that she would repay Jingjing for her kindness in the future.

Su Jingjing continued working for another half hour until there were no more customers in the store, at which point she finally took a break.

"Jingjing, have some water."

Ning Lan, being perceptive, handed over a cup of tea.

She took a small sip to moisten her throat, then looked up at Ning Lan. "Xiao Lan, isn't it tiring to entertain guests all by yourself?"

"It wasn't hard work at all; I felt very fulfilled."

Ning Lan hesitated for a moment before saying, "Sister Jingjing, thank you for giving me this job. Otherwise, my brother and I wouldn't know how to make a living."

"Silly girl, life will only get better and better from now on."

Su Jingjing felt a sense of empathy; she saw a reflection of herself in Ning Lan. Their experiences were similar, except the young girl was much luckier than her.

After spending two hours in the shop, they headed to the old house.

At this moment, An'an and Yuanyuan were swinging on the swing in the yard. The swing was made by their father-in-law, and he wouldn't let Huanhuan sit on it.

"Auntie, a little higher."

Yuanyuan was having a great time on the swing, and her laughter echoed throughout the yard.

Chen Shufang watched in horror, "Okay, stop it quickly, Grandma's heart can't take it."

Upon hearing this, Li Yuehuan slowly slowed down. As soon as Yuanyuan's feet touched the ground, she immediately ran to her grandmother's side and hugged her leg.

"Grandma, don't be afraid."

"Can we promise Grandma that we won't play on the swings too high from now on?"

"Yes, Yuanyuan will listen to Grandma."

The car then entered the old house.

"Hey, it's Dad's car."

The next second, Yuanyuan ran quickly towards the car.

When Li Hanting saw his daughter running over, he quickly stopped the car.

Su Jingjing got out of the car and picked up her daughter, asking, "Were you a good girl at home today?"

“I’m being a good girl,” Yuan Yuan said loudly. “Mommy, Yuan Yuan misses you so much.”

"So Mom came."

Su Jingjing raised an eyebrow.

I walked up to my parents and greeted them, "Mom and Dad, are the two children well-behaved?"

Chen Shufang smiled gently, "There are no more well-behaved children in the entire compound than An'an and Yuanyuan."

Su Jingjing agreed with this statement.

Although Yuanyuan is a bit temperamental now, she's not unreasonable.

Li Yuan looked at his silent second son, "How did the mission go?"

Old Gu had already praised Han Ting to him this morning, but as a father, he not only had to pay attention to the completion of the mission, but also to his son's health.
