Chapter 38 Li Hanting picks up the mother and her two children

When I arrived at the station, it was already noon, and there weren't many people taking the train.

Su Jingjing got into the car carrying several bags of things, which caught the driver's attention.

However, she was already used to it; the gossip among the women in the family compound was far more terrifying.

She was excited when she arrived, but on the way home, her round eyelids kept drooping.

"Is Yuanyuan sleepy?"

Su Jingjing put the things on the ground and quickly hugged Yuanyuan to make her more comfortable.

Li Yuanyuan squinted, gave a delicate yawn, rested her head on her mother's chest, and murmured, "Mom, I want to sleep."

Su Jingjing gently patted the little one's arm, "Go to sleep, Mommy will wake you when we get there."

The little guy had been out and about all morning, and now that he'd eaten and drunk his fill, he was starting to feel sleepy.

On the contrary, An'an sat up straight, showing no signs of sleepiness.

Without Yuanyuan chattering beside them, the mother and son didn't know what to say and remained silent.

After a bumpy ride, we finally saw the gate of the military region.

Just then, Yuanyuan woke up, rubbed her eyes, and mumbled "Mommy" in a daze.

Su Jingjing gently wiped away the drool from the corner of the little guy's mouth. He must have been having a good dream, otherwise why would his little mouth keep smacking?

"Baby's awake? We're home."

Li Yuanyuan originally wanted to snuggle in her mother's arms, but her brother reminded her from behind, "Yuanyuan, get down and walk."

The little one then realized that her mother must be tired after carrying her all the way, and then she struggled slightly in her mother's arms.

"Mommy, Yuanyuan, come down and walk."

The tiny creature, standing on the ground, tilted its head back and said to its mother in a childish voice, "Mommy, did Yuanyuan hurt you?"

"Yuanyuan will give you a warm nap."

In a child's world, there is no pain that a good cry can't solve.

The two little ones' actions warmed Su Jingjing's heart. An'an's words and actions were increasingly leaning towards her as her mother, so her efforts during this period had been effective.

"Thank you, Yuanyuan, Mommy's hand doesn't hurt anymore."

"Mom, you're welcome."

The heartwarming scene between the mother and daughter was interrupted by the driver, "Miss, weren't you supposed to get off at the military compound?"

I dared not be too rude in my tone, after all, this might be a military wife, and people in the 1980s have a high respect for soldiers and their families.

Su Jingjing then realized what had happened, quickly apologized to the driver, bent down to pick up the things from the ground, and got out of the car with the two children.

As soon as we got out of the car, we heard Yuanyuan's cheerful little voice calling out "Daddy".

Su Jingjing subconsciously looked up and saw the man dressed in a neat military uniform. Looking further up, she saw that his expression was slightly solemn, and his buzz cut did not detract from his handsomeness at all.

Because of years of training outdoors, his skin has a bronze tan, which is Su Jingjing's favorite type of male skin.

Before Su Jingjing could even speak, the little guy started rattling off everything he had seen and heard that day.

"Daddy, Daddy, Mommy bought so many things, including clothes, storybooks, meat, and cakes."

She scratched her head vigorously, but could only come up with four points, because these were her favorites.

Suddenly, a thought struck her: "Oh right, my mom, brother, and I also ate noodles. The bowl was so big, and Yuanyuan is still full."

As he spoke, the little guy immediately realized that no one was cooking for his father, which made him very pitiful.

"Dad, what are you having for lunch?"

Li Hanting's defenses were broken by his little darling. Looking into Su Jingjing's eyes, he said in a deep voice, "Daddy will eat lunch at the cafeteria."

He pitifully went to the canteen with his comrades at noon, and suddenly missed Su Jingjing's cooking. But adhering to his habit of not wasting food, he ate it all without changing his expression.

After the meal, he didn't go back to rest, but instead went to the door to wait for them to come home. In fact, while waiting, he was very uneasy, afraid that Su Jingjing would really sell the two children.

No one knew the overwhelming excitement he felt when the mother and her two children appeared.

ah?

Poor Dad!

Su Jingjing felt uncomfortable under the man's gaze. It wasn't like she had asked him to eat at the cafeteria; besides, he had been eating there for years.

I'm used to it by now, okay?

Li Hanting took the mother and son's belongings, his eyes fixed on Su Jingjing, and slowly said, "Let's go home first."

"oh oh."

Su Jingjing was stunned. The man's gaze was strange, and she felt a little uncomfortable.

The two children walked hand in hand in front of them. Yuanyuan would occasionally bounce around, but she was careful not to make noise, as her father had told her not to make a fuss in the army.

While holding his younger sister's hand, Li Cheng'an secretly glanced back. His parents were walking separately, without exchanging a word, and looked like strangers from a distance.

He frowned slightly. His father was too rigid and had no sense of romance at all.

At this moment, the clueless Li Hanting wanted to speak, but he was too tongue-tied and didn't know how to start, so he just kept a cold face.

The man exuded a cold aura, leading Su Jingjing to mistakenly believe that he was unhappy that she had come home late, or that he was unhappy with her extravagant spending.

The family of four walked along the path, and the soldiers on duty saluted Li Hanting with solemn expressions.

They were all wondering to themselves, who is the woman next to Commander Li?

She looks very refined and is a good match for the group leader.

Su Jingjing's previous image was too sloppy, completely different from the style of the woman in front of her.

Su Jingjing then realized that men did indeed have a high status in the military.

Before Li Hanting could even escort the mother and her two children back to their family compound, Liu Yang rushed over and immediately stopped. "Reporting to Commander Li, there is an urgent document that needs your signature."

Li Hanting also reverted to his usual indifference and nodded to Liu Yang.

Su Jingjing understood and took the things from the man's hands. "I'll take them. You go ahead and do your work."

"Oh, by the way, cook dumplings tonight, remember to come home for dinner."

If the man doesn't get to eat these dumplings, his two children will surely pity him.

After saying that, he turned to Liu Yang and said, "Little brother, you should come along too."

ah?

Liu Yang was completely baffled; how could he be included?

He understood that his sister-in-law was trying to curry favor with Commander Li, after all, this wasn't the first or second time this had happened.

But his sister-in-law actually called him "little brother," even though she had always ignored him before.

Whether it was just polite talk or not, he couldn't actually go over to eat dumplings.

"Sister-in-law, I have to work tonight, so I won't be able to go over for dinner."

Su Jingjing didn't insist, "Okay, come over for dinner another day."

In my memory, the original owner took advantage of Liu Yang being Li Hanting's guard and bullied him every time they met.

"I'm going now, but I'll definitely be back for dinner tonight."

Li Hanting said meaningfully that he was completely unaware of his lingering feelings for Su Jingjing.

"Dad, Yuanyuan and Mom are making dumplings together. You must come back for dinner tonight."

The little guy tugged at his father's sleeves with both hands, giving him instructions in a childish voice.

"Okay, Dad will definitely come back."

How could Li Hanting resist his precious daughter's sweet voice?
