"Mom, if Aunt Cai hadn't come over, were you planning to keep this from me forever?" Su Jingjing said, turning to look at her father. "Dad, why didn't you stop me?"
Su Xiang shrugged. "You know your mother's temper; only you can talk to her about it."
"Is your family short of money?"
Su Jingjing asked tentatively.
"No, no, no, the mushrooms in the mountains are sweet and delicious. I was just thinking of picking some to make soup."
"Don't worry, honey, it won't just be me and Aunt Cai going tomorrow."
Yan Ling clapped her hands. "Oops, the food in the pot is burnt."
After saying that, he turned and went back to the kitchen.
That evening, Yuanyuan clung to her the whole time.
"Sweetie, what's wrong? You play with your brother first, Mommy's going to take a shower."
"Mom, can I sleep with you tonight?"
Perhaps because she was scolded by her mother during the day, she now feels extremely insecure.
"sure."
Su Jingjing noticed the cautiousness on her face and affectionately kissed her cheek.
An'an was no exception.
"Mom, I'm all grown up now, I can't just kiss anyone."
An'an covered her face and looked at her mother, who spoke in a serious tone with a somewhat solemn expression.
Su Jingjing teased him on purpose and kissed his other cheek.
"No matter how old you are, you are still your mother's son."
She gently patted his little bottom and said, "Okay, go play with your little brother."
An'an "..."
He's a grown man, and people would laugh their heads off if he got his butt slapped.
Little Guodong was bouncing around on his father's lap. He had slept a bit too much during the day, so he was full of energy now.
Upon seeing his older brother and sister, he jumped even more joyfully, his mouth constantly drooling.
Su Dashan almost couldn't hold him. In the two months since they came to the city, his son had become chubby and fair-skinned, a real little fatso.
He put his son on the mat to play.
"Little brother, I have some dolls here, do you want to play with them?"
Yuanyuan took out her large doll, which was her most treasured toy.
Xiao Guodong looked at the doll, which was about the same size as him, and thought it was a stranger. He pushed the doll away and hummed and whimpered.
Yuanyuan hugged him back, "Little brother, don't you like him?"
Guodong remained silent, his bright eyes fixed on his sister.
Dong Qin quickly explained, "Yuanyuan, your little brother is a boy, so he might not like things that are for girls."
"Oh, I see." Yuanyuan seemed to understand but not quite, scratching her head. The next second, she said something surprising, "Then Auntie, please give me another little sister. She'll definitely like dolls."
Those present were stunned for a moment, finding it both funny and absurd.
Dong Qin smiled and said, "My younger brother is still young, so my aunt is thinking of having a second child when he's a little older."
It's relatively easy for Guodong's parents to take care of him alone, but if they have another child, they might not be able to manage.
Why don't you ask your mother to have a little sister?
Yuanyuan thought about Su Jingjing's words and said, "Mom is busy with work and will have to wait a while before having a little sister."
Yan Ling was amused by her granddaughter's words.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. "Who could it be so late?"
Su Xiang looked puzzled and went to open the door with his hands behind his back.
"Han Ting, it's you?"
Li Hanting stood upright in front of his father-in-law, his tone tinged with apology, "Dad, did I disturb your sleep?"
"We're not asleep yet, come in quickly."
Su Xiang opened the door and let him in.
Li Hanting nodded, "Mom, eldest brother and sister-in-law."
"Yes," Su Dashan and his wife replied crisply.
"Dad, what brings you here?"
Yuanyuan put down her beloved doll and ran quickly towards Li Hanting, hugging his leg tightly.
"Hehe, I know." Before Li Hanting could speak, she said mischievously, "Dad must miss us."
Li Hanting affectionately patted his daughter's head, thinking, "This little girl is getting smarter and smarter."
Yan Ling looked at her tall son-in-law and immediately stood up.
"Han Ting, did you just finish work and drive over here?"
"Hmm," Li Hanting responded softly. "Mom, is Jingjing inside?"
"She's still taking a shower; she should be out soon."
Yan Ling replied to her son-in-law, "Please sit down for a moment, Mom will make you a bowl of noodles."
Li Hanting couldn't let his mother-in-law cook noodles for him, so he quickly stopped her, saying, "Mom, I'm not hungry, there's no need for that."
"No trouble at all, no trouble at all."
Yan Ling rushed to the kitchen.
She felt both heartache and relief that her son-in-law had driven all the way to see her daughter.
Su Xiang said, "Let her cook, she can't stay idle anyway."
After taking a shower and drying her hair, Su Jingjing came to the yard.
She looked up and her eyes met the man's; she was stunned for a moment.
When did you arrive?
She didn't find her voice until the man walked right up to her.
"Just arrived."
Li Hanting brushed the stray hairs from her forehead behind her ear. "Wife, I'll stay at home for one night and head back tomorrow."
"fool."
Su Jingjing looked at him with heartache.
"The noodles are here."
Yan Ling brought the noodles to the dining table and invited Han Ting to come and eat.
Su Jingjing concealed her emotions, "Didn't you have dinner?"
"I've already eaten. This is a late-night snack that Mom cooked for me."
Li Hanting pulled his wife to a chair. "Mom, thank you."
"You're welcome. You two enjoy your meal. I'll head out now."
Yan Ling smiled broadly.
The young couple needs to nurture their relationship; she can't be a third wheel.
Li Hanting fed the first bite to Su Jingjing, saying, "Wife, have some."
