Chen Shufang's eyes lit up, and she kept waving at them.
"Brother, it really is Grandpa and Grandma."
Yuanyuan excitedly shook her brother's sleeve.
An An smiled slightly. "Yes, brother saw it."
Chen Shufang hugged them tightly and gently wiped the sweat from their foreheads with a handkerchief. "Grandma's little treasures, are you tired?"
"Old Li, quickly fan the two children."
Li Yuan fanned himself vigorously and asked in a low voice, "Is it any cooler now?"
An'an looked at the two elders and said, "Grandpa and Grandma, there's no need to go to so much trouble. My sister and I aren't hot."
My grandparents are getting old, and we can't let them take care of them.
Yuanyuan pursed her lips and said crisply, "Yes, yes, it's not hot anymore."
Chen Shufang knew the two children were worried about them, so she said, "Okay, let's go home and eat watermelon while the fan is on."
"Time to go home and eat watermelon."
Yuanyuan skipped and hopped ahead, making the three people behind her burst into laughter.
There were many things in the trunk. They carried the watermelon and vegetables upstairs, and planned to move the rest when Hanting came back.
An'an had the key and easily opened the door.
Take the watermelon into the kitchen, cut it up, put it on a plate, and bring it out. "This watermelon is so sweet, come and eat!"
Yuanyuan immediately put down the remote control and ran over.
Take a small bite, and the juice bursts in your mouth instantly—wow, so sweet!
"Grandma, did you leave any for Mom and Dad?"
"There are still several pieces in the kitchen."
An'an and Yuanyuan then happily started eating the watermelon.
Finally, she even let out a burp, and Chen Shufang dared not let Yuanyuan eat any more.
The little one was very obedient, didn't eat greedily, and sat quietly at the table drawing.
Li Yuan found it intriguing and leaned closer to ask, "What is this painting? Can you tell Grandpa?"
The little one put down his paintbrush, looked up, his big, bright eyes gazing at Li Yuan, a bright smile on his face, and a soft, sweet voice said, "Grandpa, the teacher assigned a drawing assignment. The topic is 'My Family.'"
Li Yuan affectionately patted her hair, "Okay, then can Grandpa watch you draw?"
"sure."
The little guy answered loudly, his voice clear and resonant.
An'an sat quietly reading on the other side. Li Yuan was curious and secretly glanced at her. It was full of dense mathematical symbols, which made his eyes dizzy, but An'an was engrossed in it.
This child seems to have a knack for numbers; could he possibly be going to work in that field in the future?
"Grandpa, what's wrong?"
An'an put down his book, unsure of what his grandfather wanted to say to him.
"Tell Grandpa, can you understand it?"
Li Yuan casually pointed to the symbols on the book.
Yes, you can.
Although he didn't understand why his grandfather asked that question, he still answered truthfully.
Li Yuan's expression grew even more serious. "An'an, Grandpa is asking you, what do you want to be when you grow up?"
An'an put down her book in a daze and stared at Li Yuan without blinking. "Grandpa, do you want me to join the army?"
"Um... that's not quite right."
An'an said, word by word, "I want to do business and make a lot of money."
Seeing that his grandfather didn't react, he thought he would disagree.
"grandfather……"
Li Yuan quickly came to his senses. "Oh, I see. Do your parents know what you're thinking?"
"They said they wouldn't object as long as my sister and I liked it."
An'an asked cautiously, "Grandpa, will you agree?"
Chen Shufang came out of the kitchen. "Grandma agreed."
Sitting next to Lao Li, she nudged him. "What, you still want to force An'an to join the army?"
That's not what I meant.
Li Yuan quickly retorted.
Chen Shufang snorted coldly, "Old Li, let me tell you, you can't interfere with what An'an and Yuanyuan want to do in the future."
If Han Ting hadn't liked being a soldier, she would never have let him join the army.
Life is not easy for military wives. Their husbands are often away, and sometimes when there are things to do at home, they have to handle everything on their own.
"It must be Mom and Dad coming back."
The commotion at the door caught Yuanyuan's attention, and she immediately put down her paintbrush and ran to the door.
"Mom and Dad, let's eat watermelon."
Su Jingjing asked, puzzled, "Where did this watermelon come from?"
The next second, she looked up and saw her mother-in-law, and asked in surprise, "Mom and Dad, when did you arrive?"
"You arrived a little after ten o'clock, go and eat some watermelon to cool off."
Chen Shufang turned to her son and said, "Hanting, there are still some things in the trunk of the car downstairs. Go and bring them up now."
"Okay." Li Hanting handed the bag to his wife and turned to leave.
"Jingjing, Mom brought a mosquito net and two fans, so you can sleep more comfortably."
"Mom, thank you for your hard work, Dad."
It's true what they say: having a good in-law family can really help you.
"It's not hard work at all. If you want something in the future, just call Mom and tell her. You won't have to go all the way to the city to buy it."
"Thank you, Mom."
Su Jingjing stopped being coy and accepted the offer readily, saying she would take care of her parents in other ways from now on.
It took two trips to finally get everything upstairs.
Li Hanting installed the two fans and hung a mosquito net on the bed.
As soon as it's powered on, the fan starts spinning, blowing out a refreshing breeze.
Yuanyuan leaned her face closer, looking quite pleased, "It feels cool."
An'an pulled her sister's arm, "Sister, don't get too close."
The little one looked up and asked, "Mommy, is that how it is?"
"Yes, brother is right. You are not very healthy and should not be exposed to strong winds."
