Dong Qin stared at Su Jingjing with a serious expression, her eyes revealing an earnestness that was impossible to ignore: "I think Xie Zheng likes you."
Su Jingjing was drinking water when Dong Qin's words made her cough suddenly, almost spitting out the water.
"Cough cough..."
Dong Qin asked anxiously, "Jingjing, are you alright?"
Wasn't she too harsh?
Xia Jie and the others also looked over, their eyes revealing a hint of worry.
She quickly waved her hand, "I'm fine, I just choked a little."
He stared wide-eyed at Dong Qin, then lowered his voice and asked, "Why do you think that, sister-in-law?"
It seemed they were trying to find a trace of a joke in the other person's eyes.
However, Dong Qin's expression showed no hint of mockery.
“I always felt that Xie Zheng treated you differently. If my brother-in-law found out, it would cause a misunderstanding.”
Su Jingjing suddenly remembered that A Ting had said something similar.
Could it be that Xie Zheng really likes her?
She only had eyes for Ah Ting and never noticed that Xie Zheng treated her any differently.
"Sister-in-law, I only see Xie Zheng as a business partner, there are no other feelings involved."
"Sister-in-law, I trust you. I'm just worried about Xie Zheng."
Deep down, Dong Qin was still afraid that her sister-in-law would fall in love with someone else. After all, they had known each other for several years. Jingjing liked handsome men, and when she first saw her brother-in-law, she said that she would marry no one but him.
Xie Zheng is good in every way, which is really attractive to girls.
"Sister-in-law, I am now completely devoted to Ah Ting, and I have no feelings for any other man."
If the other party truly lacks tact, she will not hesitate to terminate the cooperation; in her view, nothing is more important than her family.
Hearing Jingjing's words, Dong Qin finally felt relieved.
At noon, she went back to have lunch with Dong Qin. Before they even entered the courtyard, they heard Guo Dong's chuckling.
Guodong is now slowly learning to walk and has a lot of energy.
"I'm back."
Yan Ling heard the noise at the door and turned to look outside.
Guodong saw his mother jumping around even more, waving her hands constantly.
"Little Guodong, do you miss your auntie?"
Su Jingjing picked him up, and he was a little confused, staring at her with his round eyes.
Yan Ling sat in a chair and said with a smile, "Guodong has started to recognize people recently. Since you don't stay here often, he must feel a little unfamiliar with you."
"Fortunately, he didn't cry today. Yesterday, the neighbor lady held him and he cried until his voice was hoarse."
"By the way, why didn't An'an and Yuanyuan come?"
Su Jingjing answered her mother's question while teasing her nephew.
"My sister-in-law gave birth to a boy a few days ago. An'an and Yuanyuan are playing over there."
Yan Ling was also delighted, "Han Chen and his wife have been married for several years and now they have a son, which can be considered as silencing some people's gossip."
If an ordinary family doesn't have a son or daughter, the neighbors will definitely gossip. Let alone a family like the Li family, the young couple Han Chen must be under a lot of pressure.
Su Jingjing frowned. Sure enough, no matter the era, people can't accept the idea of being childless.
"Alright, why are we talking about this? The children are hungry, let's eat first."
Su Xiang coughed lightly, reminding Yan Ling to start the meal.
Su Dashan wasn't home for dinner today, so I didn't wait for him.
Dong Qin got up and took the initiative to wash the dishes.
After resting for a while after the meal, Su Jingjing and the other person went to the store again.
Another busy day has passed.
In the afternoon, on her way back to her old house, she passed by Liangji Pastry Shop and went in to buy some pastries.
An'an and Yuanyuan really like the pastries from this shop; they're sweet, soft, and chewy, just to their liking.
As soon as they stepped out of the shop, they saw the man leaning against the car. Their eyes met, and a feeling of joy welled up between them.
She rushed over, surprised and delighted, and exclaimed, "How did you know I was here?"
Li Hanting took the bag and pastries from her hands and helped her into the car.
“I just went to the store, and they told you to go back first. I knew you would come to buy pastries.”
Li Hanting gently tapped her delicate nose, then started the car.
Su Jingjing smiled shyly, "I just thought the kids hadn't had pastries in a long time, so I bought some."
She's been very busy lately and hasn't had time to bake pastries for the children, so she had to buy them.
Looking tenderly at the man's profile, she asked, "You came here today, are you going to rush back early tomorrow morning?"
The man turned his head and looked at her gently. "Yes, I'll head back tomorrow morning."
"I'll come pick you and the child up this afternoon."
Su Jingjing's throat tightened. "A-Ting, but you didn't get to sleep for more than a few hours all night."
"I can't sleep at all without you by my side."
Li Hanting stroked her soft hand, "Don't worry, three hours of sleep is enough for me."
The two chatted all the way home and soon arrived at the old house.
The sound of Yuanyuan riding her bike and Huanhuan's laughter came from the living room.
"Auntie, hurry up."
"Oh, I'm so tired, I need to rest for a bit."
Li Yuehuan acted spoiled and plopped down on the cushion.
She just played rock-paper-scissors with Yuanyuan and actually lost to a little kid. Her family laughed all afternoon.
Yuanyuan believed her and said, "Auntie, let me massage your back."
The little hands were pounding away energetically from behind.
Li Yuehuan swayed her eyes comfortably, but when she caught sight of her second brother and sister-in-law out of the corner of her eye, she froze in shock.
"Second brother and sister-in-law, you're back so soon."
"Mom and Dad."
Yuanyuan grinned and ran over like a little cannonball to hug Su Jingjing's leg.
The aroma of pastries filled the air. "Mom, did you buy some pastries?"
Su Jingjing squatted down and affectionately pinched her nose, "How come your nose is so sensitive? Eat it after dinner."
"What were you playing with your auntie just now? You were laughing so loudly, didn't you disturb your little brother?"
“Mommy, my little brother is sleeping upstairs, he won’t be disturbed.” Yuanyuan quickly shook her head, “Auntie…”
Just as he was about to continue explaining, Li Yuehuan interrupted him.
"Hehe, Second Sister-in-law, it's nothing, Yuanyuan and I were just playing around."
She didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her second brother and sister-in-law again.
Li Hanting saw through his sister's little trick at a glance. "Where are Mom and Dad?"
Li Yuehuan quickly revealed the whereabouts of her family members: "Dad is playing chess with An'an, Mom and Aunt Xu are making dinner, and my eldest brother and sister-in-law are resting in their room."
"Second brother, I'll put the pastries in the refrigerator so they'll taste even better later."
She carefully took the pastries from her second brother's hand, then ran towards the kitchen, her round eyes darting around as she quickly followed her aunt.
"It seems that the allure of pastries is still greater."
Su Jingjing's eyes revealed helplessness.
After dinner, the family sat on the sofa, eating pastries and chatting, while the man went upstairs to discuss matters.
Everyone is usually busy with work, so we cherish the time we spend chatting and laughing as a family.
