Chapter 419 Let's get this straight (shuhaige.net)

Around four o'clock, the Li family's car came to pick up Su Jingjing and her two children.

An'an and Yuanyuan said goodbye to their grandparents with reluctance.

Yan Ling leaned out of the car window and said to Su Jingjing, "Bring the kids over next week if you're free."

After thinking about it, I decided, "No, you're too busy with your studies right now."

"Mom, I'll come next week," Su Jingjing reassured her mother.

Yan Ling happily said "good" several times.

As soon as the car stopped, Chen Shufang and Li Yuan went to the car door and took the two children out.

Su Jingjing greeted the two elders, then went to the trunk and took out the bean sprouts.

"What's this?"

Chen Shufang asked.

"Mom, these are bean sprouts. I've brought them for you and Dad to try."

Su Jingjing untied the bag and spread out the bean sprouts to show them.

Chen Shufang exclaimed with delight, "Oh my, these bean sprouts are so tender! Where did you buy them? I've never seen them before."

Before her mother could answer, Yuanyuan raised her rosy cheeks and said proudly, "Grandma, Mom made this."

Chen Shufang responded in the little one's sweet, childlike voice, "Can you tell Grandma how Mommy did it?"

Yuanyuan gestured with her hands, "Like this, and then like that."

"Pfft..." Everyone couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Su Jingjing smiled broadly and explained it to her mother-in-law.

Chen Shufang was becoming more and more curious about Su Jingjing. Ever since that incident last year, it seemed like she knew everything.

"Then Mom will have Xu Ma cook it for us later."

As he spoke, he called Xu Ma over.

At dinner, Li Yuan praised the stir-fried bean sprouts with pork.

"This tastes quite refreshing."

Ouyang Qian chimed in, "Yes, I also think it tastes much better than other dishes."

"Jingjing, how did you grow this?"

Immediately afterward, everyone at the table except An'an and Yuanyuan looked over.

Su Jingjing cleared her throat and explained the method for sprouting soybeans.

"It sounds pretty simple. Mom will try it tomorrow. We happen to have a lot of soybeans at home."

After listening, Chen Shufang felt that the method seemed easy and couldn't help but exclaim, "It does sound quite easy to do! I'll try it tomorrow, since we still have a lot of soybeans left at home."

Around seven o'clock, Li Hanting called to say that he wouldn't be going back to the old house tonight, and would come to pick them up tomorrow afternoon.

"Mom, my brother and I want to sleep with you tonight."

Yuanyuan was wearing light yellow pajamas and holding a little rabbit doll, looking like a little elf.

"Okay, let's wait for my brother to finish his bath first."

Su Jingjing led her daughter into the room, and the little one immediately started rolling around on the bed with joy as soon as she saw it.

"Don't bounce the bed too much. Come here, Mom will make you a cup of malted milk."

Yuanyuan gulped it down and was still a little unsatisfied.

Just then, An'an pushed the door open and came in, and Su Jingjing also invited him to come and have a drink.

He looked at his younger sister and asked doubtfully, "Mom, are we sleeping together tonight?"

"Yes, are you happy?"

An'an nodded shyly.

The mother and her two children were lying on a bed, chatting and laughing.

Su Jingjing let the children snuggle into her arms, looked at their heads, and smiled indulgently, "Alright, go to sleep now."

Goodnight, Mom.

Goodnight, my love.

The next day, Su Jingjing brought the translated manuscript to the newspaper office and explained her purpose.

"President Lin, thank you for taking care of me this past year. I know you've increased my royalties every time."

Lin Jianji waved his hand, "That's because your translation is the best."

He sighed and continued, "To be honest, I'm really a little reluctant to see you go, but your college entrance exam is more important. We can work together again in the future if we have the chance."

Su Jingjing nodded, "Okay."

She was truly grateful to him; without him, she would have been completely helpless when she first arrived, without a single penny to her name.

After leaving the newspaper office, she went to the garment factory, where Sister Xia and the others were very happy to see her.

"Jingjing, it's been a long time since you've come."

"I was held up by some things last week," Su Jingjing explained, then asked everyone, "How are you feeling? Are you tired lately?"

Sister Wen smiled and said, "It's alright. Making money is always tiring."

The men in the family work hard every day at the docks carrying heavy loads, but they only earn a pittance, which is less than her monthly salary. So, it's not the hard work that's scary, it's all for nothing.

After finishing her work at the factory, Su Jingjing went to the shop, and Ning Lan was clearly very happy to see her.

"Sister Jingjing."

"Xiao Lan, can you manage all this by yourself?"

“Sure,” Ning Lan replied hastily, as if she were afraid her boss would fire her.

Since she started working at the clothing store, her life and her brother's life have become much better, and her brother is now able to afford to go back to school.

"If you feel it's too hard, just tell me."

Su Jingjing could tell at a glance that she was flustered.

"Sister Jingjing, I will."

I spent the morning in the shop and was just about to go back when I saw Xie Zheng standing at the door.

She paused for a moment, then greeted him, "Mr. Xie, what brings you here?"

Xie Zheng's face stiffened for a moment before he stepped inside.

"Why are you calling me Boss Xie again?"

Su Jingjing suddenly realized and quickly apologized, "I'm not used to being called by my name all of a sudden."

"By the way, are you here to pick up goods again this time?"

The clothes that sold out in the thousands last time, they can't have sold out so quickly, right?

Xie Zheng coughed and said, "No, I just came to Huaicheng for a stroll."

"Do you have time? I'd like to invite you for a coffee."

Su Jingjing stared into his eyes and readily agreed.

She wanted to see what Xie Zheng had to say.

As soon as he stepped into the coffee shop, Hei Zi kept staring at Su Jingjing, feeling that she looked familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.

After racking my brains for a long time, it suddenly dawned on me: This... isn't this Brother Ting's wife?

Why is she having coffee with a strange man? Does Brother Ting know about this?

No, he had to report to Brother Kai immediately, but Brother Kai had been spending so much time with his sister-in-law lately that he was nowhere to be seen.

Su Jingjing always felt that a gaze was watching her, but she couldn't find the person.

She knew that Gu Shaokai and Xinyi had gone out to play.

"Jingjing, what's wrong?" Xie Zheng noticed her absent-mindedness.

Su Jingjing snapped out of her reverie. "Oh, it's nothing."

The two stared at each other for a moment, until Su Jingjing finally spoke up, "Well, you didn't call me out just to have coffee, did you?"

She glanced at her watch. "I have something to do at home later, so I'll probably be going back in about ten minutes."

Xie Zheng put down his cup. "I have a question that might be presumptuous of me. I hope you don't mind."

"Ask away," she said, all ears.

"How is your relationship with your husband? How does he treat you?"

Hearing this, Su Jingjing was basically certain that Xie Zheng might really have some feelings for her.

Unfortunately, her heart could only hold Ah Ting.
