Chapter 421 The Abnormality at the Dinner Table

Li Family Old House

After leaving the coffee shop, Su Jingjing went back to the store, got on her bicycle, and stopped by Liangji Pastry Shop to buy some osmanthus cake.

When the two children saw her returning with the pastries, they rushed to greet her.

The round dog nose started to work, and it took a deep breath. "Mom, did you buy pastries again?" The child's voice was full of anticipation and excitement.

Looking at the child's adorable appearance, Su Jingjing couldn't help but smile and gently replied, "Yes, my little darling has such a keen nose! Take this and share it with Grandpa and Grandma." As she spoke, she handed a carefully packaged bag of pastries to the child.

But the two children insisted on going in with her.

"Second Sister-in-law, it tastes like osmanthus cake." Li Yuehuan immediately jumped up from the sofa.

Chen Shufang gave her a disdainful look. "You're a girl, be more elegant. Aren't you afraid An'an and Yuanyuan will make fun of you?"

An'an and Yuanyuan quickly said, "Grandma, we won't laugh at Auntie."

Their serious yet utterly adorable expressions made everyone present burst into laughter, the sound echoing in the air, filled with warmth and joy.

"My little darlings, Auntie loves you all so much."

Li Yuehuan pulled them into a hug and kissed them hard on the face several times.

Soon, marks appeared on An'an and Yuanyuan's faces, probably because children's skin is more delicate.

The two children, being very considerate, each gave each of them a piece of cake.

Chen Shufang patted their heads and said with relief, "We're not hungry yet, you eat with your brother."

Seeing her daughter starving like a ghost, she couldn't help but remind her, "Eat slowly, don't finish it all."

Li Yuehuan didn't stop what she was doing. Her mouth was stuffed full, and her cheeks were bulging out like a little squirrel hoarding food. She looked extremely cute.

"Mom, I bought a lot of pastries, enough for Huanhuan to eat to her heart's content!" Su Jingjing said quickly when she saw her mother-in-law's slightly furrowed brows.

She smiled gently, her eyes revealing her doting affection for Li Yuehuan.

"Sigh... Second sister-in-law is the best."

Li Yuehuan pouted and mumbled something indistinctly.

Chen Shufang didn't really mind her daughter eating too much; she was just casually nagging her.

This child seems to never grow up, always fighting with An'an and Yuanyuan for food.

I wonder if my husband's family will dislike me if I get married in the future.

She has given birth to two sons and a daughter. Now, the two brothers, Han Chen and Han Ting, have a happy and fulfilling family life. Only Huanhuan is left. We need to be careful when this girl is looking for a partner.

Huanhuan is indeed pretty and cute, but she's carefree and doesn't seem to know if any boys at school like her.

The sound of cars in the yard caught their attention.

Chen Shufang asked, puzzled, "Could it be that Han Ting has come back?"

Xu Ma said, "I'll go take a look."

Su Jingjing stopped her, "Aunt Xu, I'll go."

"Alright then." Aunt Xu smiled ambiguously.

As soon as Su Jingjing took a step, she saw the man walk in against the light; his tall and upright figure was truly eye-catching.

The man walked up to her, and she smiled sweetly, "You got here so quickly?"

Li Hanting sped all the way here, shortening what should have been an hour's drive by half an hour.

He tried to calm himself down in the car before coming in, not wanting his elderly parents to worry about them.

Even though the words were perfectly normal, he always felt that there was another layer of meaning to them.

"Ah Ting, what's wrong?"

Su Jingjing's smile froze on her face; she sensed that A Ting seemed a little unhappy.

"It's nothing." Li Hanting held her hand and said in a low voice, "I finished my work at the military base, so I came over a little earlier."

Su Jingjing looked down at the two holding hands and felt that things were not so simple.

"Dad, have some pastries."

An'an and Yuanyuan each handed him a piece of pastry.

"Sweetie, you and your brother eat slowly."

Li Hanting touched the children's fair cheeks and looked at the familiar pastries; he knew his wife had bought them.

Sure enough, she went out this morning.

"Since we're here, it's just in time for lunch." Chen Shufang felt sorry for her son's journey, but there was nothing she could do.

Li Yuan looked up at his two sons and said, "You two come into the study with me."

Li Hanchen gently placed the child in Qianqian's hands.

"Honey, I'm going over there."

“Okay.” Ouyang Qian nodded gently.

Li Hanting squeezed Su Jingjing's hand slightly, looked at her meaningfully, and then released her hand to go upstairs.

Su Jingjing moved her right hand, as if trying to feel the warmth left by the man.

Whether it was because she was being sensitive or not, she felt that Ah Ting had become indifferent.

"Jingjing, come and sit down."

Ouyang Qian invited her to sit down.

"Oh." She paused for a moment, then quickly came to her senses.

Chen Shufang waved her hand, "Never mind them. Whenever these three are home, they go back to the study to talk. Let's have our own conversation."

Su Jingjing withdrew her gaze, concealing the emotions in her heart.

Dinner was served half an hour later, and the family members took their seats one by one.

With little darlings An'an and Yuanyuan at the dinner table, things weren't too quiet.

As usual, Su Jingjing occasionally put some food on the children's plates. They no longer need to be fed, and there are fewer rice grains falling out.

She secretly glanced at the man's expression, then placed a piece of fish in his bowl.

Li Hanting turned his head to the side and pursed his lips.

His wife was still willing to smile at him, and thinking of this, the chill in his body dissipated considerably.

Satisfied, I ate the fish, thinking to myself that the fish my wife served me was just so delicious.
