"Were you just braiding your daughter's hair?" The room wasn't soundproof, and Su Jingjing could clearly hear the noises coming from the living room.
"Hmm, it doesn't look as good as yours." Li Hanting helped her put on her coat and was about to pick her up when she resolutely refused: "No need, I can walk down by myself!"
It's broad daylight now, and she doesn't want Ah Ting to carry her downstairs.
"By the way, don't you have any other plans this afternoon? You're not going to be late for work because you're spending time with me, are you?" Su Jingjing suddenly remembered this and looked at Li Hanting with some concern.
Li Hanting smiled gently, squatted down and slowly put her shoes on, comforting her, "Don't worry, in my heart, nothing is more important than you."
“…Let’s go!” Hearing this, Su Jingjing happily went downstairs with Li Hanting.
As Su Jingjing was going downstairs, she unexpectedly ran into Wu Xiuying.
Wu Xiuying greeted them with a big smile and great enthusiasm.
"Jingjing, Commander Li, are you going out?"
However, at that moment, Wu Xiuying suddenly exclaimed, "Oh dear, Jingjing, why is your face so pale? Are you feeling unwell? Are you sick?"
Su Jingjing coughed lightly and replied in a slightly hoarse voice, "Yes, I probably caught a cold last night."
Upon hearing this, Wu Xiuying said with concern, "Then you must go see a doctor right away. Let Commander Li take you there."
Su Jingjing nodded silently, then sat in the passenger seat.
Li Hanting carefully fastened her seatbelt, then started the car and slowly drove out of the family compound.
A gentle breeze from the car window caressed Su Jingjing's face, bringing a touch of coolness. She took a deep breath, savoring the fresh air, and gradually came to her senses.
Li Hanting turned his head to look at her, his eyes filled with concern and tenderness, and said softly, "Wife, close the window. You are still very weak and can't be exposed to the wind."
Su Jingjing looked a little embarrassed and gently bit her lip. "I know." Then she slowly closed the window.
Li Hanting smiled slightly and gently touched her hair. "Are you still feeling unwell?"
Su Jingjing shook her head silently, "It's much better now."
Looking at the man's cold, hard profile, I quietly felt his warmth and strength, and my heart was filled with a sense of security.
"There's still some distance to go, close your eyes and take a nap."
"good."
Half an hour later, the car stopped downstairs at the hospital.
Li Hanting led her, familiar with the way, to an office and gently knocked on the door.
Before Su Jingjing could ask anything, she heard a deep voice coming from the room, which sounded like it came from a man who was about fifty years old.
"Come in."
Wang Ming looked up, a hint of surprise in his eyes. "Han Ting, what brings you here all of a sudden?"
"Uncle Ming, it's been a long time."
Li Hanting responded with a smile.
"Come, come, sit down quickly."
Wang Ming warmly invited them to sit down and then poured them water.
Su Jingjing was completely baffled and filled with doubt.
She seemed to have never seen this man named Wang Ming before, and she didn't know what kind of relationship he had with Li Hanting.
She sat quietly to the side, observing everything before her, trying to figure out what was going on.
"Wife, this is Uncle Ming, whom I mentioned to you before. He is my father's best friend and was recently transferred back from the capital." Li Hanting gently squeezed the small, cute hand of the woman beside him, a tender smile on his lips, and patiently explained to her.
Upon hearing this, Su Jingjing suddenly realized what was going on.
"I see..."
She blinked her beautiful eyes and looked at the kind-looking middle-aged man in front of her. She immediately guessed that he was no ordinary person.
"Hello, Uncle Ming!"
Su Jingjing nodded obediently and sensibly to Wang Ming in greeting.
Upon seeing this, Wang Ming burst into laughter: "Hahaha, Hanting, where did you find such a beautiful and well-mannered wife? You're truly blessed!"
"Han Ting's wife, you don't need to be so reserved in front of Uncle Ming. I've heard that Han Ting married a good wife, and seeing her today confirms it."
After all, Han Ting wasn't interested in romance back then; he was only focused on his career.
However, Han Ting is lucky, unlike him, who is still all alone at his advanced age.
In his youth, he dedicated half his life to his career, which led to the departure of the woman he loved. Upon hearing of her whereabouts in Huaicheng, he used his connections to transfer her back. In the latter half of his life, he no longer sought fame or fortune, but only wanted to win back the woman he loved.
"Han Ting, you didn't just come here today to catch up with me, did you?"
"Uncle Ming, my wife has a fever, could you please take a look at her?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Ming's expression immediately turned serious.
He said to Su Jingjing, "Child, stretch out your hand so Uncle Ming can see it."
The office fell silent. Wang Ming took off his stethoscope and slowly opened his lips.
"Uncle Ming, is my wife alright?" Li Hanting asked impatiently.
Wang Ming took out paper and pen, "Your fever has reached 38 degrees Celsius. It should be caused by catching a chill last night. I will prescribe some medicine for you. Take it once in the morning and once in the evening when you get home."
"It's been a bit chilly at night these past few days, so be careful in the future."
"And another thing..." Wang Ming paused for a moment, "Han Ting should be more restrained and not overdo it in bed."
