Chapter 429 Li Hanting Cooks

Su Jingjing was carefully settled on the sofa by the man, but her eyes involuntarily drifted towards the kitchen.

She watched the man's tall, upright figure bustling about in the cramped kitchen, and a warm feeling welled up inside her, causing her lips to unconsciously curl into a smile.

She didn't pay any attention to what programs were playing on TV.

Kindergarten campus

As soon as school was over, An'an and Yuanyuan couldn't wait to put on their schoolbags and rush out of the classroom like lightning.

They were worried all afternoon because their mother's illness made them lose interest in playing.

"An'an, Yuanyuan, why are you two running so fast?" Liang Dapang panted as he chased after them, finally managing to catch up with them before stopping to catch his breath.

Yuanyuan looked up at her brother, her little hands nervously tugging at the shoulder strap of her schoolbag.

An'an said earnestly, "My mother isn't feeling well, and I want to go home to see her as soon as possible." Then, he turned to Liang Dapang and asked, "What do you need us for?"

Liang Dapang was stunned for a moment before he reacted and quickly waved his hand, saying, "It's nothing...nothing important." He scratched his head somewhat embarrassedly and added, "Auntie's health is important, so you should go home quickly. I'll go back with Xiao Yang later."

After saying that, An'an and Yuanyuan quickened their pace and walked forward again.

Time ticked by, and Su Jingjing finally couldn't contain her excitement any longer. She walked to the kitchen door and exclaimed, "It smells so good!"

Li Hanting turned around and beckoned her over, picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of egg, and held it to her lips.

"Try it and see if it tastes good."

Su Jingjing opened her small mouth, put the egg in her mouth and chewed. The next second, her eyes lit up and she looked at him with admiration, "So delicious."

Li Hanting affectionately put two more pieces on her plate, including scrambled eggs with tomatoes and stir-fried pork with green peppers.

"We won't eat anymore. We'll eat together when the kids come back."

After taking a few bites, Su Jingjing insisted on not eating anymore.

"There's still plenty left, honey, have some more."

Just as the two were flirting, An'an and Yuanyuan were standing dumbfounded at the door.

Su Jingjing noticed that the man's expression was a little off and asked, "What's wrong?"

Following his gaze, I turned around and stared at the two children.

"My darlings, when did you get back?"

After an awkward five seconds, she gently withdrew from the man's embrace.

An'an knew his mother was shy, so he told a little white lie: he had actually been standing there for a while.

"Mom, my sister and I just got back. Are you feeling better?"

Yuanyuan clung to her leg, sobbing, and looked up at her, saying, "Mommy, where do you feel uncomfortable? Let me blow on it for you."

Su Jingjing subconsciously looked at Li Hanting and blinked. She thought the man had told the two children about her illness.

She only felt relieved when she saw the man shake his head.

She put her arms around the two children and said, "Mom is fine. I was just a little sleepy at noon. I took a nap and everything will be fine."

Yuanyuan regained her lively and energetic demeanor. "Yuanyuan doesn't want Mommy to be sick; she just wants Mommy to be healthy."

That's what her mother told her when she was sick.

An'an always felt that things were not as simple as her mother made them out to be. If it were just that he was tired, her father wouldn't be so worried.

In any case, seeing my mother healthy and well is the best thing ever.

Li Hanting carried several plates of home-cooked dishes out of the kitchen with a satisfied smile on his face. He placed the dishes on the dining table and then said to Su Jingjing, "Wife, take the children to wash their hands. Dinner will be served soon."

An'an and Yuanyuan then turned their attention to the delicious-looking dishes. An'an asked in confusion, "Mom, is Dad cooking today?"

"Yes, you should eat more later." Su Jingjing washed the children's hands with soap.

An'an thought to herself, "Dad is really good to Mom!"

After washing her hands, Yuanyuan spread them out for Su Jingjing to inspect.

"Mom, I'm all clean now."

"Okay, go outside and let Dad get you some rice."

The little one excitedly walked to the dining table, her mouth watering at the sight of the delicious-looking dishes.

Seeing her struggling to tilt her head back, Li Hanting couldn't bear it. "Daddy will hold you and help you sit up."

"Thank you, Daddy." She babbled, her round little mouth agape, looking especially clever.

Soon Su Jingjing and An'an also came out.

The family of four enjoyed this cozy dinner time, and of course, the mother and her two children praised Li Hanting's cooking skills to the skies.

After dinner, Su Jingjing led the children to the living room to digest their food, while Li Hanting silently began to clear the dishes.

Looking at his three darlings laughing and playing in the living room, Li Hanting felt a surge of happiness welling up inside him.

After everything was tidied up, Li Hanting moved to sit down next to Su Jingjing, subtly playing with her delicate hand, but with a serious expression, he said in a deep voice, "An'an, take your sister back to her room to do her homework."

Before An'an could even speak, Yuanyuan, who was standing to the side, couldn't wait to shout, "Daddy, I want to play a little longer!"

"Finish your homework first, then you can play to your heart's content," Li Hanting replied firmly.

"Okay~" Seeing that her father had become serious, Yuan Yuan dared not make any more requests.

Looking at the two children sitting upright, Su Jingjing asked in confusion, "It's still early, why are you making them go back to do their homework so early?"

“I was worried they would disturb you. After all, Uncle Ming said you need to rest for a couple of days,” Li Hanting explained softly.

Upon hearing this, Su Jingjing felt a warmth in her heart, but at the same time, she found it somewhat amusing. She said, "You're making a fuss over nothing!"

However, as soon as she finished speaking, she coughed softly without being able to control herself.

The sudden cough felt like a resounding slap in the face, instantly turning her face bright red.

"It's just a lingering effect of a cold; it'll be fine in a couple of days," Su Jingjing tried to hide her embarrassment.

Li Hanting naturally understood the reason and said in a deep voice, "Even so, it would be better to eat a lighter diet for the next two days."

He then recounted how his parents had called to inquire about his well-being earlier that day.

Su Jingjing asked instinctively, "How did Mom and Dad know I wasn't feeling well?"

"Oh, I almost forgot that Uncle Ming and Dad are close friends." She suddenly realized.

She nestled on the man's shoulder and said softly, "However, you were right to refuse to let Mom come and take care of us. Right now, Mom has to take care of my sister-in-law and Chengjin. If Mom comes here, then my sister-in-law will have no one to take care of her."

Li Hanting put his arm around her waist, kissed her forehead, and said with a face full of doting affection, "Wife, I knew you would think that way, that's why I refused." His eyes were full of tenderness and love.

Su Jingjing looked up and met his affectionate gaze, revealing a serene smile. They were growing more and more in sync.
