Chapter 52 The Li Family

Aunt Xu smiled and replied, "Yes."

After not seeing them for a while, the two children seemed to have gained weight; their round cheeks had become fuller, and they looked adorable.

Hey, the children's clothes are so nice, they're obviously new. Could it be that Madam sent them over the other day?

When Xu Ma inadvertently looked up and met the eyes of the second young mistress, her brows furrowed, and she felt a sense of fear.

"Second Young Mistress, you've arrived."

Realizing the ambiguity of her words, she quickly tried to salvage the situation, "Second Young Mistress, what I meant was..."

"Aunt Xu, it's been a long time."

While the two children were interacting with Xu Ma, Su Jingjing quickly remembered who she was.

Speaking of Xu Ma, she immediately recalled the original owner's consistently terrible attitude towards Xu Ma.

Not only Xu Ma, but the original owner held an unfriendly attitude towards everyone in the Li family.

Xu Ma replied with a forced smile, "Oh, it's been a long time."

Su Jingjing's attitude made her uneasy. She had never seen the other person truly smile; she always had a stern face, as if she had a grudge against someone.

No matter what the second young mistress is up to, it's always safe to go along with her.

At this moment, Li Hanting came up carrying his things and greeted Xu Ma.

"Second Young Master, please come in quickly. Madam has been busy in the kitchen since early morning."

Li Hanting nodded, meeting Su Jingjing's puzzled expression.

"What's wrong?"

Su Jingjing pointed at the gift in the man's hand and muttered softly, "When did you buy it?"

"Yesterday, when we went out for a training exercise, we passed by the supply and marketing cooperative."

"oh."

The man was the type to do great things quietly, and Su Jingjing really couldn't figure him out.

Before even entering the house, I could hear cheerful laughter coming from inside.

It's not surprising, really. An'an and Yuanyuan were just two weeds in the original owner's hands, but in the eyes of the Li family, they were priceless treasures.

This is what is meant by having a grandson who makes everything alright.

The laughter inside stopped abruptly as soon as Su Jingjing appeared at the living room door.

Everyone turned to look at us, and time seemed to stand still for a moment.

Su Jingjing was extremely embarrassed and didn't know what expression to make. She hadn't expected her influence to be so great.

No, to be precise, it's the influence of the original owner.

Sitting in the very center was a man with a powerful aura, presumably the original owner's father-in-law, Li Yuan, who was holding Yuan Yuan in his arms.

On another sofa sat a couple. The man bore a resemblance to Li Hanting and had an indifferent expression. Su Jingjing knew that this was Li Hanting's older brother, and the woman next to him was his sister-in-law. Just as described in the book, she was gentle and dignified. She and her brother had a love marriage and walked step by step into the hall of marriage. Their love remained as strong as ever after marriage.

Unfortunately, fate played a cruel trick on them. They had been married for many years but still had no children. Although the Li family did not say anything, they could not stop the gossip from outsiders.

Thinking of this, Su Jingjing suddenly remembered that the original owner had once mocked Ouyang Qian for not being able to have children, and the other party looked dejected, while the original owner looked like a victor.

Li Hanting broke the silence, "Mom and Dad, eldest brother and sister-in-law."

Everyone nodded in realization; they really hadn't expected Su Jingjing to be willing to come as well.

Chen Shufang stepped forward and took the things from her son's hands, muttering, "Look at you, what else do you need to buy when we get home?"

"Quickly, take your wife to sit down."

He handed the things in his hand to Xu Ma and poured tea for the two of them.

Regardless, Su Jingjing has already arrived, so we can't just kick her out. We can only hope she doesn't cause any trouble later.

Su Jingjing couldn't be as ruthless as the original owner, so she greeted each of her elders, "Mom and Dad, eldest brother and sister-in-law."

Li Yuan was taken aback for a moment, then reacted with a booming voice, "Hey, okay, sit down quickly."

Ouyang Qian and her husband nodded in response, saying that family members don't hold grudges overnight, and even though her sister-in-law had made sarcastic remarks before, she didn't take it to heart.

However, my sister-in-law has changed quite a bit. Before, her clothing style was strange, and coupled with her unkempt appearance, it slightly affected her image.

She looked clean and tidy today, which was very pleasant to look at.

As soon as Su Jingjing sat down on the sofa, she heard a clear hum, tinged with a hint of sulking.

"snort…"

She looked in the direction of the sound and saw a girl of about eighteen years old glaring at her angrily.

Her long, black hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall. She had an oval face, willow-leaf eyebrows, large, round, clear eyes, and a small, delicate nose, which made her look even more charming and cute.

Su Jingjing instantly realized that this was Li Yuehuan, the youngest daughter of the Li family, and also the original owner's mortal enemy. The two would definitely fight whenever they met.

Li Yuehuan's frame is more like her mother-in-law's, soft and gentle, which is why her mother-in-law was pampered by her father-in-law for decades.

Li Hanting and his elder brother are more like their father-in-law, one serving in the military and the other in politics, so the Li family has power in both the military and political spheres.

Su Jingjing ignored her sister-in-law's retort and pretended not to hear it. In her eyes, her sister-in-law was just an immature little girl.

Li Yuehuan was surprised that her second sister-in-law ignored her. Just as she was about to retort, her mother grabbed her and gave her a meaningful look. She knew that her mother was telling her not to provoke her second sister-in-law.

Li Yuehuan had no choice but to suppress her anger. Today was a day for family reunion, and as long as her second sister-in-law didn't cause trouble, they could be happy.

After sitting for a while, the father and his two sons went upstairs to the study to discuss matters.

"Please sit down."

Li Yuan invited his two sons to sit opposite him.

The two sons were both cold and expressionless.

"Han Chen, be careful of what's happening lately. The officialdom is like a battlefield. Don't underestimate your opponents, but don't make any enemies either."

As the saying goes, a soldier who doesn't want to be a general is not a good soldier. If a person wants to have power and status, he must not only be brave and resourceful, but also broad-minded and deeply loved by the people.

The eldest son's rise to the position of department head was entirely due to his own efforts.

"Dad, I understand." Li Hanchen's voice was low and hoarse.

After analyzing the current situation, the group concluded their solemn conversation.

After finishing their business, Li Yuan looked at his youngest son, who had a cold face. This kid had been a troublemaker since he was a child and never listened to anyone.

His wife initially disagreed with Hanting joining the army, but the boy was determined to stay in the military and nothing could persuade him otherwise.

The old woman was most worried about her youngest son's marriage. She didn't care about her second daughter-in-law's family situation, since everyone above them was poor.

However, his second daughter-in-law's personality was a bit hard to describe. If she kept making a fuss in the family compound, Han Ting might not be able to concentrate on his work.

"Han Ting, tell Dad the truth, did Jing Jing plan to sell her two children last week?"

Li Hanchen patted his younger brother on the shoulder and asked with concern, "Yes, Hanting, does your wife really have this idea?"

Li Hanting looked up and met his father's eyes. He parted his thin lips slightly and said, "Dad, brother, these are all rumors. Su Jingjing has been treating the two children very well lately. An'an and Yuanyuan are becoming more and more dependent on her."

He didn't want his family to look down on Su Jingjing. Regardless of what happened before, he only saw the changes in Su Jingjing now.
