Chapter 49 Pull
She turned her head and stared at the two siblings who were whispering to each other. They were obviously children who had not been "beaten" by society. They looked innocent and must be easy to deceive.
Pietro was discussing with Wanda whether they could have dinner today, when he felt a gaze from behind, which made his back feel a little cold.
He folded his arms and turned around, and found that the new girl had a wandering look in her eyes and was thinking about something.
Wanda noticed her brother leaning towards her silently. She looked up in confusion and saw Rong Huan smiling and taking out some candies from her pocket.
"Here, I'll treat you to some candy. We are friends now!"
Pietro's eyes lit up. They hadn't eaten this kind of thing for a long time since they were caught here.
He was about to reach out to take it, but Wanda slapped his hand away and glared at him.
The first thing they learned when they came here was prudence. When they first arrived, a child shared the food he had hidden, but when the steward found out, he bit back.
Wanda will never forget the pain of being whipped on her back, and she always reminds herself not to accept other people's kindness.
Rong Huan immediately understood Wanda's actions. Perhaps she had been hurt by someone else before. She smiled nonchalantly and put the candy back into her pocket.
"It's okay. If you want to eat candy in the future, you can always tell me."
Wanda lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes covering her pupils, so her expression could not be seen clearly. Pietro looked at Rong Huan with a slightly apologetic look.
The room was quiet for a moment, and then there was the sound of wheels rolling outside, accompanied by a man's deep shout.
"Behave yourself! Otherwise, you will be in trouble."
A bearded man quickly walked to the outside of their room and threw three hard objects over the iron fence. He then looked at Rong Huan and smiled maliciously.
"Hey, new here? I advise you to stay here. It is your honor to be a Hydra test subject. Lowly mutants deserve only such a life."
Rong Huan was stunned. She had been well protected since she came to this world and had never encountered such straightforward malice. This person didn't even know her, but spoke ill of her just because of the label of mutant.
Rong Huan noticed that the two siblings beside him lowered their heads, as if they were already used to such talk, or perhaps they had become numb from seeing it so often.
Although they were not much younger than she was in her previous life, their eyes were filled with so much darkness.
Perhaps because Rong Huan had been caught in the rain herself, she wanted to hold an umbrella for the two children when she saw their pitiful looks.
She stood up and sneered at the bearded man.
"Mutants? Despicable? Bah! Rats living in filthy sewers have never been influenced by culture. The stench from their mouths is enough to make me vomit. Scum like you can only bully children. You will have to crawl on your knees when you meet other people!"
Rong Huan used his full combat power and attacked the bearded man.
"Also, what is Hydra? I have never heard of it. What do I care? They are all just like you, living in the sewers every day. It is a misfortune for the times that such an organization can still survive!"
Men are used to being arrogant here. These test subjects never talk back when they are scolded or hit. They have never met someone like Rong Huan who doesn't even swear when scolding others.
His face turned blue and purple with anger, but he couldn't get a word in. He just stood there with a sinister look in his eyes, wishing he could tear her mouth apart.
Rong Huansi was not afraid at all. She took two steps forward and lowered her voice. Her eyes, which were always full of smiles, were now filled with anger.
"I tell you, one day the mutants you discriminate against will crush you into the mud and make you regret what you did today. I promise! When the time comes, I will do it myself."
Rong Huan stood behind the iron fence, staring at him without blinking. The bearded man actually felt like he was being nailed to the spot. He pretended to be fierce and spoke,
"Just wait for me!"
He uttered these harsh words and quickly left with the food cart.
Rong Huan was still standing there, like a little rooster with its feathers blown off, with an extremely cold expression on her face. In fact, her legs were shaking. She had never quarreled with anyone before, and this time she was just forcing herself to fight.
The reason why the bearded man felt Rong Huan's eyes were penetrating just now was because the system had given her a cheat code that could amplify the fear in her heart in a short period of time. She spent 100 points to buy a three-minute trial package.
It’s not that you can’t afford the big brands, but the small samples are more cost-effective.
Rong Huan had to save money to earn points, and a delivery man was not worthy of her buying genuine products.
She picked up the hard rice on the ground and turned around to share it with Pietro and Wanda, then she saw the two children staring at her with admiration in their eyes.
Of course, the light was mainly emitted by Pietro. Wanda was a little more rational. She spoke with concern.
"If you offend him like this, he will definitely take revenge on you."
Rong Huan waved her hands, not taking it seriously. She handed the things in her hand over.
"It's nothing, I just can't stand him talking about you guys."
Wanda took it in a daze. She didn't expect that Rong Huan would stand up for them after only knowing them for less than a few hours. In fact, they had suffered so many words and disgusted looks that they couldn't even count how many times.
He resisted at first, and Pietro even fought with the experimenters, but the consequences were too terrible.
She didn't want to be locked up in the small dark room for several days. The extreme darkness and silence there would drive people crazy.
She finished her meal in silence, and after a long hesitation she walked up to Rong Huan and asked,
"Does what you just said mean anything?"
Rong Huan was sticking her butt out making the bed, and when she heard that, she turned around in confusion and looked at Wanda with a puzzled expression.
Wanda thought she was joking and got anxious.
"You said we could have candy anytime we wanted it. Were you lying to me?"
Rong Huan reacted and quickly took out the candy from her pocket.
"No, how could I lie? Here."
Wanda felt relieved then. She took two pieces of candy and walked to her bed. Seeing her brother who was about to fall asleep after dinner, she got so angry that she kicked him and gave him the candy.
Pietro was kicked unexpectedly, and sat up with his hands covering his leg, looking like a bullied dog. He didn't understand why Wanda, who had been reluctant just now, accepted it so quickly.
Wanda was too lazy to pay attention to him. She carefully put the candy away and went to bed.
It was late at night and the small window in the room let in some bright moonlight. Rong Huan tossed and turned, unable to sleep, her mind in a mess.
She missed her family at Wayne Manor a little, and Clark, who always brought little cakes home from get off work.
I wonder if Daddy will be worried. Jason must be sad that he left without saying goodbye again. Ah Fu is old now, I hope he won’t worry too much.
Rong Huan's homesickness reached its peak at this moment. She buried her face in the pillow, her tears soaking the fabric, and she sniffed secretly.
Finally, she cried herself to death and fell asleep with swollen eyes. In her dream, Jason and Damian were quarreling with each other, and Alfred was smiling and asking her if she wanted to try a new flavor of cookies...
