Chapter 9: Sickness
Bruce looked at the pitiful face of the child opposite him, and last night he did think about adopting two children.
But that's as Batman.
He is now Bruce Wayne, the richest man in Gotham, and Jason is still at home.
If I take the little girl home, maybe I can test her purpose.
Yes, Bruce didn't think Rong Huan was just a child from the beginning. She was too purposeful.
Bruce couldn't help but wonder what she was trying to do.
Rong Huan looked at Mr. Bruce's handsome face and for the one hundred and first time she felt that handsome guys were really pleasing to the eye.
But I always feel that this handsome man's gaze carries a vague scrutiny.
Rong Huan didn't think much about it, but saw Bruce suddenly laugh. He reached out and touched her head, and said,
"I am so lucky to have a lovely daughter!"
Rong Huan was prepared for a long battle, but she didn't expect Bruce to accept her so quickly.
Just as she was about to laugh, she heard a sudden voice in her head.
"The host's eye disease is about to flare up. Five seconds countdown, five... four... three... two... one."
Wait...wait a minute, Rong Huan thought to herself, this is not good, why does he have to get sick now when there could be no other time?
But the blurriness in front of her eyes became more and more severe, and when the electronic sound of "one" fell, Rong Huan fell into complete darkness.
Bruce saw the little girl suddenly turn pale, grab the tablecloth, and then fall off the chair.
He quickly lifted the child's head and found that her eyes had become dull.
Without thinking too much, he immediately carried Rong Huan into the car and drove to the hospital.
In the VIP ward of the hospital, a little girl was lying on the big white bed.
She was not sleeping soundly, her eyelashes fluttering. Bruce leaned against the wall, staring at the little girl's pale face.
He remembered what the doctor had told him: the child was malnourished.
The people he saw eating voraciously were all due to not eating enough on a regular basis.
The most important thing is that after the doctor's examination, she was found to be blind.
He recalled the two times he had met Rong Huan. The little girl's eyes looked normal and there were no signs of blindness.
However, the results of the instrument's reaction showed that she could not see, and there was no cause for the disease.
Bruce even thought that maybe she had been injected with some drug which caused the side effects, because there were so many mysteries surrounding her.
Rong Huan slowly opened her eyes, and everything was dark. She wanted to raise her hand to touch her eyes, but was blocked by a big hand.
"Don't touch it. Your eyes are temporarily blinded."
Rong Huan was stunned. She had never lost her eyesight before and thought she was mentally prepared.
But what you really can’t see is the uncontrollable panic spreading in your heart.
".....Mr. Bruce, is that you?"
The child's tiny voice rang out, sounding particularly weak in the spacious ward.
Bruce looked at Rong Huan's sickly face, his eyes were tentative, but his tone was gentle as he answered,
"It's me, would you like some water?"
Rong Huan shook her head. She didn't want to eat anything now. She just wanted someone to be by her side so that she wouldn't be so scared.
Bruce went on to say,
"Then we can go home. Weren't you blind before?"
This is a direct test.
If Rong Huan shook her head, Bruce would doubt Rong Huan's past.
If she nodded, it would prove that the information Bruce had obtained before was false.
The information about a little girl in her early teens is only two thin pages, but it is intriguing to know that it contains information that Batman doesn't know.
Rong Huan could never imagine that an ordinary question could contain so much hidden information.
She nodded and followed the background given by the system.
"I've had an attack before, but I had no money and couldn't afford to see a doctor, so I had to just endure it myself every time I had an attack."
This was a mistake.
In the past, Rong Huan rarely left Crime Alley, and even if she was really sick, no trace could be found because no medical records were established.
Bruce lowered his eyes, not knowing whether to believe it or not.
The child's words didn't seem false, and no matter how smart she was, she couldn't be foolproof.
It could only be that someone was helping her. But what could having a child close to her do?
