As soon as Wen Nongnong stood up, A Tuo Jiang Hua rushed over in one stride, "Nongnong, why haven't you come to the palace to see me for so long? I've been missing you so much."
Wen Nongnong examined her complexion and saw that her personality was still the same as before, energetic and lively. It seemed that she had not suffered any grievances during her time in the palace.
She felt relieved, took her hand, and said with a smile, "I would like to come to the palace to see you, but do you think the palace is something I can just walk into whenever I want?"
Atuo Jianghua sighed, "That's true."
"How are you getting used to life in the palace?" Wen Nongnong asked.
"It was alright at first, but then the Empress Dowager sent several nannies to teach me manners, which annoyed me to death." A Tuo Jiang Hua looked utterly hopeless. "Those nannies were rigid and boring. They told me I couldn't do this or that, so I got so angry that I beat them up. I'm still lying in bed and can't get up now."
As she continued, she became happy again.
Wen Nongnong's lips twitched slightly; this really did seem like something Atuo Jianghua would do.
"Did the Emperor and Empress Dowager punish you?"
"The Empress Dowager was so angry that her face turned green, but she only said a few harmless words and didn't do anything to me. But the Emperor..." Atuo Jianghua paused and pouted, "He has been ignoring me. Except for the day I entered the palace, when he came over and said a few words to me, he hasn't summoned me since. I haven't even served him in bed yet."
His tone conveyed a sense of disappointment.
Wen Nongnong rubbed her forehead, "Are you so eager to serve the Emperor in bed?"
A Tuo Jiang Hua said with a smile, "He is very handsome and quite to my liking. Now that I have entered the palace, I naturally want to take things further with him."
When Wen Nongnong heard her speak so bluntly, she didn't know what to say.
After a long pause, she finally said, "There are plenty of handsome men in Daye, why did you have to choose him?"
A-Tuo Jianghua played with a strand of hair hanging down by her ear and suddenly said, "At that palace banquet, the first person I took a fancy to was the Regent."
Wen Nong Nong rolled her eyes at her, "Well, you have pretty high standards."
A-Tuo Jianghua said with amusement, "Are you praising me, or are you praising the Regent?"
“Of course I’m praising you.” Wen Nongnong laughed, then said shamelessly, “However, the Regent doesn’t think much of you; he only has eyes for me.”
Atuo Jianghua felt this conversation was going nowhere. "Are you showing off to me?"
“You can think of it that way.” Wen Nongnong smiled, her eyes crinkling.
A Tuo Jiang Hua suddenly said with some melancholy, "If only the Emperor liked me too."
Upon hearing this, Wen Nongnong paused, seemingly wanting to say something, but ultimately gave up.
Because, as she had already advised her against it, it was her own insistence on entering the palace.
Gu Heng doesn't like bright, strong-willed women.
He seemed to prefer women who appeared delicate and pitiful.
Wen Ruyi is that kind of person.
“Nongnong, I heard that the Emperor likes women who can dance, but I don’t know how to dance the Daye style. Can you teach me?” Atuo Jianghua suddenly asked eagerly.
Wen Nongnong was taken aback. "Why?"
A Tuo Jiang Hua's bright eyes sparkled with hope, "Because I want the Emperor to like me."
"Is this really what you want? Since ancient times, the imperial family has been the most ruthless. Being favored by the emperor may not be a good thing. Because the emperor's favor is not long-lasting. Once the emperor withdraws that favor, you will only be left with endless loneliness and torment." Wen Nongnong couldn't help but whisper her advice.
She simply couldn't bear to watch A Tuo Jiang Hua sink herself into such a quagmire.
