Chapter 362 My Aunt Surprised Me

“Traversing mountains and rivers.” As Wen Nongnong spoke, her gaze fell on Wen Ruyi. She thought to herself, Gu Heng really spoils her. He even brought her along when he came to the Regent’s Palace. But does she really have a stomachache?

She gave her a scrutinizing look.

Wen Ruyi happened to look over as well, and then, as if startled, she threw herself into Gu Heng's arms.

Wen Nongnong sneered.

However, Gu Heng's attention was focused on the song, and he did not notice Wen Ruyi's actions, so her efforts were in vain.

"Traversing mountains and rivers?" he murmured to himself, then asked, "Who is this song about?"

Seeing Wen Ruyi's unusually pale face, Wen Nongnong replied in a good mood, "The Hegemon of Western Chu." Then, fearing that he would ask some more irrelevant questions, she said, "Consort Liu seems to be feeling unwell. Your Majesty should take her back to see the imperial physician as soon as possible."

Gu Heng did have some questions he wanted to ask, but upon hearing her words, he had no choice but to turn his attention back to Wen Ruyi. He frowned slightly and said in a low voice, "Let's go."

After taking a few steps, he suddenly turned back, a smile playing on his lips. "My aunt surprised me greatly." He paused, then looked at Gu Linchao. "My uncle is quite enviable."

Gu Linchao narrowed his eyes, took Wen Nongnong's hand and placed it in his palm, and said in a detached voice: "I apologize for making you laugh, Your Majesty. Your aunt is still young and often does unexpected things. If there is anything inappropriate, please forgive her."

Gu Heng paused.

Why did he detect a hint of boasting in his uncle's seemingly humble tone?

"Uncle, you are overthinking it. Aunt is a wonderful woman. All women in the world should be like her."

Gu Linchao nodded. "Your Majesty is right. Your imperial aunt is indeed a wonderful person. I am very lucky to have married her." He paused, then added, "But some people and some things are beyond our reach." He emphasized his words.

Gu Heng's fingers clenched tightly beneath his sleeves. Was his uncle giving him a warning?

He concealed all his emotions in his eyes. He smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with Gu Linchao's words. He then beckoned to Atuo Jianghua, "Consort Atuo, come back to the palace with me."

A-Tuo Jiang Hua sensed a change in his attitude towards her today, but she wasn't as happy as she had expected; instead, she felt strange.

But since he had spoken, she couldn't stay any longer, no matter how unwilling she was to return to the palace. So she handed the sword back to Wen Nongnong and said with some reluctance, "Nongnong, I have to go back to the palace. I'll come to play with you again next time."

Wen Nongnong was still a little dazed because of what Gu Linchao had just said. When she heard her speak, she came back to her senses and said, "Okay, remember to take care of yourself."

A warm feeling washed over A Tuo Jianghua. She sighed and suddenly said, "I really want to live with you forever." After saying that, she remembered Gu Linchao standing beside her, quickly stopped talking, and walked towards Gu Heng.

After seeing Gu Heng and his group off, Wen Nongnong was still feeling a bit dizzy.

Looking at the man's hand that had never let go, she felt a sweet warmth in her heart and couldn't help but look at it again and again.

Gu Linchao noticed this, his handsome face slightly embarrassed. He was about to let go of her hand, but the girl held on tightly and refused to let go.

"Your Highness must hold my hand like this forever," she said, shaking his arm playfully.

Gu Linchao's handsome face flushed, and he couldn't help but look around. Luckily, no one was around, otherwise, what kind of behavior would that be?

"I still need to go to my study to handle official business," he said, attempting to change the subject.
