After spending half the day as a background figure, Physician Lin, seeing that he had finally remembered him, quickly replied, "The Princess's injury..."
After a pause, swallowing back the words "it's nothing serious," Physician Lin frowned and said gravely, "Although the bone isn't broken, it's already swollen. It's best to keep it dry for the next few days, rest in bed as much as possible, and eat a light diet. I'll prescribe some medicine for the Princess to take daily later..."
Hearing this, Wen Nong Nong frowned. "Is a light diet really necessary?"
After listening attentively, Gu Linchao nodded. "Alright, I understand."
"Since there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now," said Physician Lin.
Gu Linchao nodded.
Physician Lin then withdrew.
After Physician Lin left, the others also withdrew.
Gu Linchao sat down on the edge of the bed, gently touched Wen Nongnong's foot, and asked, "Does it hurt?"
"It hurts so much..." Wen Nong Nong blinked her wet eyelashes, looking extremely pitiful.
Gu Linchao was both angry and helpless. "Let's see if you dare to act so recklessly next time."
"You were mean to me," Wen Nongnong complained, looking aggrieved.
Gu Linchao: "..."
He rubbed his temples; this girl really couldn't be spoken to harshly.
"Your Highness, I want some water," Wen Nongnong said, her eyes darting around.
"Okay." Gu Linchao got up and poured her a glass of water.
Wen Nongnong took it and lowered her head to drink it.
After finishing her water, she said, "Your Highness, I would like some snacks."
Gu Linchao said gently, "It's almost time for dinner, so let's skip the snacks."
"I'll just eat a small piece, definitely not more," Wen Nongnong said in a conciliatory tone, looking at him expectantly with her peach blossom eyes. "I haven't had a chance to eat the osmanthus cake that Aunt Li made this afternoon..." As she spoke, she couldn't help but smack her lips.
Seeing her looking so greedy, Gu Linchao chuckled, feeling helpless, and went out to bring the food in for her.
Wen Nongnong was satisfied. She took a piece from the plate and held it to his mouth first, saying, "Your Highness, please eat first."
Gu Linchao didn't like eating snacks outside of regular meals, and shook his head with a smile, "I won't eat them, you can eat them yourself."
Wen Nongnong held the pastries and stared blankly at him.
Gu Linchao's handsome face flushed. "What are you looking at?"
“Your Highness looks so handsome when you smile.” Wen Nongnong tilted her head and said earnestly, “Your Highness must smile more often in the future.” She paused, then added as if remembering something, “Of course, you can only smile in front of me.” She put on a stern face and spoke in a somewhat domineering tone.
Gu Linchao was taken aback, then his ears burned. He coughed lightly to cover his discomfort, and without responding to her words, he got up and took the plate of snacks out.
Watching his departing figure, Wen Nongnong's lips curled into a smile as she took a bite of the pastry.
After the two had dinner together that evening, Gu Linchao, seeing that there was nothing else to do, said, "I'll head back now..."
However, before he could finish speaking, Wen Nongnong interrupted him, saying with a displeased look, "Didn't Your Highness promise to take care of me? Have you forgotten so quickly?"
Gu Linchao naturally remembered what he had said. Seeing the girl's unhappy expression, he looked slightly helpless: "I'm just going back to the West Garden to take a bath first, and then I'll come over."
Wen Nongnong's expression relaxed. "Why bother with all that? We can just take a bath here."
Upon hearing this, Gu Linchao paused. He was really not used to bathing in her room and was about to refuse when Wang Houde walked in carrying his change of clothes.
He said with a smug look on his face, "Master, this servant has brought your change of clothes."
Gu Linchao: "..."
I've never seen him so quick-witted before, why is he like this this time...?
