Fortunately, the area where they are currently located is relatively spacious, so for the time being, it is still safe.
But those ladies who were used to living a life of luxury had already broken down after experiencing that life-or-death ordeal. Now that they were trapped here, some of the more timid and cowardly ones simply collapsed.
"What are we going to do? Are we going to be trapped here forever?"
"Yes, what if the mountain next to us collapses again?"
"I don't want to die here..."
The atmosphere was already heavy, and the incessant rain made people feel uneasy.
When everyone started crying, the situation became even worse.
Mrs. Xu sighed, looking at the blocked road ahead, her face filled with worry and anxiety.
"Mother, please go to the carriage first," Wen Nongnong said softly. She was actually a little worried, mainly because the rain had been falling and she was afraid that the hillside might collapse again. If that happened, it would be troublesome.
Madam Xu held her hand tightly and said guiltily, "It's all my fault. If I hadn't insisted that you come to the Guanyin Temple, this wouldn't have happened."
Wen Nongnong said helplessly, "Mother, what are you saying? How can this be your fault? Nobody knew it would rain so hard all of a sudden. Besides, we're fine now, aren't we? Mother, just listen to me, let's get to the carriage quickly."
Suppressing her self-reproach, Madam Xu said softly, "Let's go up together."
"You go up first, I'll be up in a bit," Wen Nongnong said.
Unable to dissuade her, Madam Xu had no choice but to get into the carriage first.
"Hongya, Xiao Li, you two stay here and look after Madam. Lüqiao and I will go to the front to take a look," Wen Nongnong instructed the servants beside her.
"Let this servant go and see," Xiao Li quickly said.
"No need, you all stay here and take good care of Madam." Wen Nongnong refused, then led Lü Qiao to the blocked road to check it out.
"Miss, don't get too close, be careful of another collapse." When they reached the blocked section of the road, Lü Qiao hurriedly pulled Wen Nong Nong back.
Wen Nong Nong stopped as instructed.
When she got closer, she realized the situation was much worse than she had imagined.
Beside the road, there used to be a very high hillside, but it suddenly collapsed, covering the entire road surface. The coverage area was so wide that the road ahead could not be seen at all.
There were huge rocks, sand, and trees, all piled up together, blocking the way like a mountain.
How can we get through this situation?
She had originally planned to gather all the drivers to help dig out the blocked road, but now it seemed that this was simply not going to work.
Firstly, we lack tools, and secondly, we don't have enough manpower. In addition, the rain keeps falling, and we are afraid that the mountain will collapse again.
Thinking of this, Wen Nongnong also felt somewhat discouraged.
As darkness fell, the situation was likely to worsen if night fell.
I wonder if anyone knows what's going on here, and whether the government will send someone to rescue them.
"This, this young lady..."
Just then, a timid voice suddenly came from the side.
Wen Nongnong was startled and turned her head to look. She saw a girl with an oval face and wearing a peach-colored dress standing behind her, with her maid standing next to her.
The one who just spoke must have been this young girl.
"What's wrong? Is there something you need?" Wen Nongnong asked.
The girl said timidly, "It's my maid. She said she knows a path that leads to a nearby village, but the path is difficult to walk..."
Upon hearing this, Wen Nongnong looked at the maid beside her in surprise, "Is it true?"
The maid was even more timid than her mistress. When she was asked, she nodded hastily, "Yes, yes, my home is in that village. Before entering the Chen residence, my mother and I went to the Guanyin Temple and walked along that road..."
Wen Nongnong glanced at her and asked cautiously, "Where is that road?"
“It’s near the narrow passage,” the maid replied.
Wen Nongnong thought for a moment and asked, "Could you take me there to have a look?"
The maid glanced at her mistress, and seeing her nod, she said, "Alright."
Wen Nong Nong then led Lü Qiao and followed the maid toward the narrow path.
Meanwhile, Gu Linchao and Wen Tingyun had already arrived at the site of the landslide.
Looking at the blocked road in front of them, both of them felt a sinking feeling in their hearts.
"How could it have collapsed so badly?" Wen Tingyun frowned.
Gu Linchao gripped the reins and ordered Si Yi, who was waiting in the side, "Si Yi, go to the camp outside the capital immediately and bring over a hundred soldiers. The rest of you stay here to clear the road."
"Yes." Si Yi waved his hand, and the guards who had followed him quickly stepped forward to clear the road. He himself rode his horse toward the camp on the outskirts of the capital.
A hint of worry appeared between Wen Tingyun's brows. The whole place had collapsed, and he had no idea what the situation was ahead. Were his mother and younger sister still at the Guanyin Temple, or were they trapped on the road?
If it were the former, that would be fine, but I'm afraid they had already left the Guanyin Temple before the rain started.
If that's the case, I wonder if they encountered any danger?
A deep sense of worry enveloped Wen Tingyun.
Gu Linchao looked at the road ahead, a layer of worry lingering between his stiff brows. After thinking for a moment, he turned to Wen Tingyun and said, "The collapse here is too severe. It can't be cleared up in a short time. I'll go in and check the situation first. You take some people to see if there are any passable paths nearby."
Wen Tingyun nodded. "Alright, then be careful."
Gu Linchao nodded. Seeing that he had left with his men, he dismounted and walked toward the blocked road.
Upon reaching the top, he gave a few instructions to the guards and then leaped onto the collapsed rocks.
Meanwhile, Wen Nongnong followed the maid toward the narrow path. Halfway there, the maid suddenly stepped into a pothole and accidentally slid down into it.
