Chapter 49 Eager to Consummate the Marriage with Him

"Granny Zeng, what kind of soup is this? It tastes quite good." Wen Nongnong smacked her lips, seemingly still savoring the taste.

Granny Zeng smiled broadly, "If Your Highness finds it delicious, please have another bowl. I'll serve you another one." With that, she took the empty bowl from Wen Nongnong's hand.

Wen Nongnong wanted to say no, but then she thought, the soup tastes pretty good anyway, so having another bowl won't hurt.

But when she turned her head, she met Gu Linchao's strange gaze.

"What's wrong?" she asked, puzzled.

"It's nothing." Gu Linchao shook his head, then stood up. "I'm going to my study."

"Oh." Wen Nongnong was somewhat flattered, not expecting Gu Linchao to tell her where to go.

Granny Zeng hurriedly said, "Your Highness, please have another bowl."

"No need," Gu Linchao refused. Only that idiot Wen Nongnong didn't know the purpose of the soup, and was actually drinking it with relish.

Although Granny Zeng was an old servant of the Empress Dowager, she still felt a lot of pressure when facing Gu Linchao and did not dare to force him. Instead, she said tactfully, "Then Your Highness should not stay up late tonight and should rest early with the Princess."

Upon hearing this, Gu Linchao glanced back at Wen Nongnong, said nothing, and walked away.

Wen Nongnong was somewhat puzzled.

Why did Gu Linchao look at her so strange just now?

"Your Highness, please drink it while it's hot." Granny Zeng had already ladled out a fresh bowl of soup and presented it to her.

Wen Nongnong had no suspicions, took the bowl, and drank it all again.

Granny Zeng was satisfied and suddenly clapped her hands.

Immediately, a group of palace maids entered.

Before Wen Nongnong could react, she was lifted up by a group of palace maids and taken directly out of the front hall.

"Granny Zeng, what are you doing?"

Granny Zeng gently comforted her, "Your Highness, please don't panic. We servants only wish to help you bathe and change your clothes."

Upon hearing this, Wen Nongnong loosened her clenched fist.

These palace maids were no match for her; it wouldn't be difficult for her to break free.

However, these people were all sent by the Empress Dowager and had no ill intentions towards her.

"It's still early, I don't want to take a bath yet." She turned to look at Granny Zeng walking beside her.

Granny Zeng said meaningfully, "Bathing takes time, and by the time you're done bathing, it will be quite late."

Hearing this, Wen Nongnong understood everything.

So, did the Empress Dowager make this show of things today to try and get her to consummate her marriage with Gu Linchao?

The nourishing soup I just drank...

Her eyes widened.

My stomach suddenly felt churning.

No wonder Gu Linchao looked at her so strangely just now.

Does he think she's eager to consummate their marriage?

Heaven……

This was Wen Nongnong's first time setting foot in the West Garden.

But she didn't have time to look at it at that moment, and she was inwardly resistant.

She didn't want to step into Gu Linchao's private world.

Regardless of her inner reluctance, she was still led by Granny Zeng and her group into the hot spring pool on the south side of the West Garden.

This hot spring pool was specially ordered to be built by the Empress Dowager when this mansion was constructed, so that she could take care of the court.

Once inside the hot spring pool, Wen Nongnong was put down.

But before she could catch her breath, the palace maids reached out to undress her.

She was startled and stepped back, saying, "I can do it myself."

Granny Zeng smiled and said, "Your Highness, don't be shy. We are all women, it's alright."

"No, no, no, I'm not used to it. You guys go out first, I'll wash myself." Wen Nongnong was on the verge of tears.
