There was a moment of silence after he finished speaking.
Just when Wen Nongnong thought the generals were about to back down, she heard them suddenly shout loudly, "This humble general is willing. As long as we follow Your Highness, we are willing to feed the horses and clean the toilets every day."
Without the slightest hesitation or pause.
It was as if even if Gu Linchao were to ask them to pay with their lives the next moment, they would not hesitate.
A rare smile appeared on Gu Linchao's usually cold face. "Si Yi, since they want to clean the toilets, what are we waiting for? Let's take them with us."
"Yes," Si Yi replied respectfully.
Wen Nongnong helped Gu Linchao into the carriage.
When the carriage started moving again, she couldn't help but lean out of the window and look back.
Sure enough, the group of generals followed behind them eagerly.
Wen Nongnong couldn't help but laugh out loud; they really were a lovely group of people.
"What are you laughing at?" Gu Linchao heard this and turned to face her.
Wen Nong Nong sat back down and leaned lazily against him. "I just think they're quite cute."
"Cute?" Gu Linchao couldn't help but chuckle at her description.
A group of burly men, trying to describe them as cute is rather pathetic.
"Because they have deep affection for the Prince, which is admirable," Wen Nongnong said earnestly.
Gu Linchao was taken aback for a moment, then nodded, "Yes, they are all brothers who have gone through thick and thin with me."
Thinking of something, Wen Nongnong said with a hint of schadenfreude, "These generals have all gone with you. Gu Heng will be furious when he finds out."
Gu Linchao stroked her head with his fingers, remaining silent.
A moment later, she suddenly said, "Nong Nong, we have to go our separate ways."
Wen Nongnong was startled, "You want to leave with me?"
Gu Linchao squeezed her hand. "Of course not."
“Then you…” Wen Nong Nong looked at him, puzzled.
Gu Linchao whispered something to her.
...
The Imperial Palace.
When Gu Heng learned that all the major generals of the main camp in the suburbs of the capital had left with Gu Linchao, he was furious.
Is Gu Linchao planning a rebellion?
Just as he was about to use this as an excuse to punish Gu Linchao, Hao Fulu brought in several memorials.
"Your Majesty, these are the resignation memorials submitted by the major generals of the camps in the suburbs of the capital."
Gu Heng frowned as he took it.
After reading it, he threw the document to the ground with force, his face cold and ashen.
Their voluntary resignation had nothing to do with Gu Linchao.
He just couldn't understand why so many people still followed Gu Linchao even though he had retired to Xiangzhou.
When it comes to winning people's hearts, this royal uncle is truly skilled.
Just then, a palace servant announced from outside, "King Ju requests an audience."
Upon hearing this, Gu Heng's anger subsided slightly, and he said in a deep voice, "Let him in."
Before long, King Jue walked in from outside.
"Your Majesty," the Prince Jue bowed to him.
"Your Highness, you may rise," Gu Heng said calmly. "Is there something you wish to discuss?"
Seeing the lingering anger on his face, the Prince Jue vaguely knew what was going on and said calmly, "Your Majesty, I have come to share your burdens and solve your problems."
"Oh, how does Your Highness intend to share my burdens?" Gu Heng sat back in his chair, waiting patiently for him to continue.
The Prince of Jue paused, a sinister glint in his eyes. "Gu Linchao is blind, like a toothless tiger, utterly harmless. If he were to die on his way to his fiefdom in Xiangzhou..."
He stopped there, his meaning clear.
Upon hearing this, Gu Heng paused for a moment, then began to ponder the matter.
Yes, as long as we lay a trap on the way to Xiangzhou, killing a blind man is not a difficult task.
Once Gu Linchao dies, the matter of the military seal will no longer be a threat to him.
After a moment's thought, Gu Heng had made his decision.
"I will consider it."
Seeing this, the King Jue knew that Jue had taken his words to heart, and a slight, almost imperceptible, smile appeared on his lips.
"Your subject takes his leave."
As soon as he left, Gu Heng immediately summoned Si Luo.
He was determined to make Gu Linchao die on his way to Xiangzhou.
...
We've been traveling for several days, and everyone is quite tired.
On this day, when they passed through a valley, Si Yi told everyone to rest on the spot.
Green Beauty and White Pear went together to resolve their personal issues.
As soon as they got back, Si Yi told everyone to pack their things and continue on their way.
Without delay, Lü Qiao and Bai Li boarded their respective carriages.
Just as Lü Qiao got into the carriage and hadn't even settled in, the carriage suddenly sped off, and she almost fell out.
After finally managing to steady herself by holding onto the carriage shaft, she was about to scold Si Yi when she heard him suddenly say seriously, "Sit down properly!"
Before Lü Qiao could react, she suddenly heard the sound of arrows flying onto the carriage.
Realizing what was happening, she quickly grabbed onto the carriage shaft, trying to shrink herself as much as possible.
Although she was mentally prepared, she still couldn't help but feel terrified at the prospect of being assassinated.
Amidst the dense rain of arrows, Si Yi, driving his carriage, suddenly broke away from the group and headed towards the mountain road to the side.
"The Prince of Xiang is in the carriage. Hurry and chase after them, don't let them get away."
The shouts of assassins came from behind, and soon many assassins chased after them.
The mountain road was rugged and difficult to walk, and Lü Qiao almost got thrown off several times.
She bit her lip hard, her back pressed against the car wall, her heart feeling as if it were about to burst out of her chest.
This carriage was the prince's personal carriage. When Si Yi drove the carriage away, the assassins naturally followed.
