Wen Ruyi felt that since she was going to escape, now was an opportunity.
Moreover, she has already alerted the old woman; if she can't escape this time, she'll have even less of a chance next time.
So she ran forward with all her might.
Unfortunately, the grass was too tall, obstructing her view. In addition, she was running too fast and accidentally tripped over something, causing her to fall heavily to the ground.
"Smack!"
She struggled to get up and keep running, but was startled when she realized that the person who tripped her was a person.
She hurriedly moved back, her gaze inadvertently falling on the man's face. The next moment, she was shocked. How could it be him?
"Help, help me..." The man suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed the hem of her skirt.
Seeing this, Wen Ruyi quickly put on a kind smile and said, "Don't worry, I will save you."
The man stared at her for a moment, then closed his eyes and fainted completely.
Wen Ruyi looked at the man, a smile playing on her lips.
As fate would have it, she unexpectedly encountered such a distinguished person.
Just then, the old woman caught up, panting, and with her strong arms, pulled her up.
"If the Third Miss keeps running around like this, don't blame this old woman for being rude," the old woman said angrily.
"Granny Chen, I didn't mean to run away, I just came out for some fresh air." Wen Ruyi immediately lowered her stance and begged for mercy in a soft voice.
Granny Chen was quite pleased to see her adopt such a humble attitude.
"Then Miss San has caught her breath now, can she go back now?"
“Granny Chen, there’s someone here. He seems to be injured. Since we’ve found him, let’s do a good deed and take him back to the manor.” Wen Ruyi pointed to the injured man in the bushes, shook Granny Chen’s arm, and pleaded softly.
Following her gaze, Granny Chen saw a person lying in the grass. At first, she was startled and thought it was a dead person, but when she heard that the person was only injured, she was relieved.
She was not in a mood to seek out such trouble.
However, she was also a discerning person. Just by looking at the fabric of the man's clothes, she knew that he was no ordinary person.
If she rescues the person now, he might thank her handsomely once he wakes up.
Just as he was thinking this, he heard Wen Ruyi say, "This person seems to be of unusual status, how come he's lying here?"
Upon hearing this, Granny Chen no longer hesitated and bravely stepped forward to check the man's breath. After confirming that he was still alive, she said, "Third Miss is kind-hearted, so let's take him back. It would be a good deed."
“Granny is right.” Wen Ruyi’s eyes flickered, and together with Granny Chen, they helped the man up and took him back to the estate.
When the man woke up again, it was already dark.
He woke up with a start, his smooth forehead covered in sweat.
He looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings and sat up warily.
"You're awake?" At this moment, Wen Ruyi walked in carrying a bowl of medicine.
The man turned his head and saw a girl in a white dress walking gracefully towards him under the lamplight.
"You're sweating a lot." Wen Ruyi seemed not to notice his gaze as she placed the medicine bowl on the low table beside the bed, then took out a handkerchief from her sleeve and leaned over to wipe his sweat.
The man was taken aback and turned his head away.
Wen Ruyi explained, "I just wanted to wipe your sweat."
The man gave her a cold look. "Don't you think it's a bit too casual of you to wipe the sweat off a complete stranger?"
Wen Ruyi paused, feeling annoyed, but said on the surface, "I don't usually see men outside the family." As she spoke, she handed him the medicine bowl, "This is the medicine I brewed for you. Drink it quickly, and maybe your wound will heal faster."
The man then remembered something and bent down to examine his wound.
