"I'm not a greedy person, and I won't look down on it." Wen Nongnong wrinkled her nose, put all the gifts from the Wen family together, and then went to get the gifts from Chen Mubai and his wife.
The gifts given by Chen Mubai and his wife were not gold or silver, but they were quite special.
It was a beautifully embroidered shawl, and the fabric was very smooth and delicate.

She took the shawl out of the box, hung it on her wrist, stood up, turned around in front of Gu Linchao, and asked, "Does it look good?"

Wen Nongnong nodded. "I think their relationship is quite complicated. But Lord Chen is a really good person. He can actually accept Madam Chen, who has remarried and has a daughter."
“Yes, Chen Mubai is a broad-minded person,” Gu Linchao agreed.
The couple were talking inside when Butler Wang hurriedly led someone in.
"Your Highness, Your Highness, this is Eunuch Li from the capital. He said he is here on the orders of the Empress Dowager and the Emperor to deliver a birthday gift to Your Highness. He was delayed on the way, so he has only arrived now."
As soon as he finished speaking, a man dressed as a eunuch immediately stepped forward to bow to Gu Linchao and Wen Nongnong.
"This servant greets Your Highness and Your Highness."
Wen Nongnong was taken aback, somewhat surprised.
She could understand that the Empress Dowager sent her gifts, because the Empress Dowager had always treated her very well. But what did Gu Heng mean by that?
Was he doing this to provoke Gu Linchao?
As soon as she thought this, she saw a layer of gloom appear on Gu Linchao's face.
"Bring it here," Gu Linchao said calmly.
"Yes." The eunuch immediately placed the two gifts he had brought on the table.
"This one is from the Empress Dowager, and this one is from the Emperor." The eunuch said, handing the gift list to Steward Wang. Then, remembering something, he paused and mustered his courage to say, "The Emperor asked me to wish Her Majesty a happy birthday."
After he finished speaking, he clearly sensed that the atmosphere in the room was off, and his face immediately fell.
Even he felt that the words were inappropriate, but the emperor personally instructed him to make sure that he delivered the message.
"If there's nothing else, this servant will take his leave." The eunuch didn't dare to raise his head the whole time, and after saying this tremblingly, he was about to leave.
"Wait a minute," Gu Linchao suddenly said.
The eunuch froze, and large beads of sweat slid down his forehead.

“Go back and tell the Emperor that his aunt thanks His Majesty for his great favor,” Gu Linchao said in a cold voice, emphasizing the words “aunt”.
Upon hearing this, the eunuch felt relieved and hurriedly replied, "This servant will certainly pass on the message."
"Okay, go down." Gu Linchao said calmly.
The eunuch, feeling as if he had been granted a pardon, quickly withdrew.
Wen Nongnong's expression turned ugly; her good mood for the whole evening was ruined.
That damned Gu Heng!
She suddenly picked up the gift Gu Heng had given her and threw it away.
With a loud bang, the wooden box shattered into pieces, and its contents spilled all over the floor.
"Butler Wang, burn that gift as firewood," she said coldly.
"Yes." Butler Wang glanced at Gu Linchao, whose face was ashen, responded, and quickly withdrew.
Gu Linchao's expression softened, he sighed, and took Wen Nongnong's hand, saying, "Nongnong, don't get angry."
Wen Nongnong turned her head and asked, "Are you satisfied now?"
Gu Linchao was taken aback for a moment, then pulled her into his arms and sighed softly, "I didn't know that Gu Heng would have such feelings for you."
Wen Nongnong reached out and stroked his brow, saying with great distress, "Although I know I am naturally beautiful and loved by everyone, being targeted by someone like Gu Heng really gives me nightmares. Your Highness, please don't mention that unlucky person anymore."
Upon hearing this, Gu Linchao couldn't help but chuckle, pinching her nose and saying, "You, you."
Wen Nongnong grabbed his hand and said teasingly, "Does Your Highness think I'm very beautiful?"
Gu Linchao paused, his gaze falling on her voluptuous face, a smile playing on his lips. "You've got quite the thick skin."
