Gu Linchao vaguely guessed what it was, but he didn't ask.
He got up and walked out quickly, because he was afraid that if he looked at her and the children any longer, he wouldn't want to leave.

Just as Gu Linchao was about to mount his horse outside the mansion gate, the Empress Dowager, supported by Granny Zeng, hurriedly came out.
"Chao'er."
Gu Linchao paused, then turned to look at his mother.
"Mother," he walked over, "why did you come out?"
The Empress Dowager grasped his hand, tightening her grip. "Are you going to the capital?"
"Yes." Gu Linchao nodded.
"Then you must take good care of yourself," the Empress Dowager said kindly, her deeply wrinkled eyes fixed on him as if she could never get enough of looking at him.
Her gaze aroused Gu Linchao's suspicion. "Mother?"
The Empress Dowager withdrew her gaze, lowered her head, and earnestly instructed, "Nongnong is a good daughter-in-law. When you are in a high position in the future, you must treat her well. There are also two children. You must spend more time with them and teach them."
"I know," Gu Linchao nodded.
"That's good. You go ahead, I'm going in too." The Empress Dowager was afraid of arousing his suspicion, so she didn't dare to say anything more. She took Zeng Mama's hand and hurriedly went in.
