Chapter 684 Saying it a hundred times is still better than you

Upon hearing this, Cheng Yisu said angrily, "Is Qianqian really being kind? If that person is truly good, why doesn't she marry him herself? Isn't she of marriageable age? She doesn't even like him herself, yet she dares to introduce him to me. What is she thinking?"

Madam Su was so angry at her words that she almost fainted.

"Yi Su, how can you talk like that?"

Seeing that she was angry, Cheng Yisu had no choice but to shut up, but muttered under her breath, "What I said is true."

But Madam Su still heard it and was furious. However, the other party was her sister's daughter, so she couldn't hit her or scold her. She was so angry that her face turned very ugly.

Cheng Yisu could tell that her aunt was upset with her, so she had no intention of staying any longer and quickly left after making an excuse.

As soon as she left, Madam Su cursed, "With a personality like that, I don't think she'll ever get married."

Si Lan only stayed at the Su residence for half a day before heading back.

Madam Su thought it was because of Cheng Yisu, and even apologized to her.

"That's just the kind of person my niece is, don't take it to heart."

"It's alright, I didn't mind, Madam, don't overthink it," Si Lan said.

Seeing that she didn't seem to be lying, Madam Su was relieved. "Then you must come again tomorrow."

“Yes, Madam,” Si Lan agreed.

After leaving the Su residence, Si Lan walked home, but at a corner, she almost bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry." Si Lan finally managed to steady herself and quickly apologized.

"It's nothing, it was my mistake." The man withdrew his hand that was about to help her and said calmly.

Upon hearing this, Si Lan looked up at the person, but when she saw the person's face clearly, her eyes widened in surprise, "It's you?"

Cheng Feng was taken aback for a moment, then recognized her as well, "Miss Si?"

Si Lan nodded and asked curiously, "Weren't you in Xiangzhou? When did you come to the capital?"

Cheng Feng smiled faintly, "My home is in Beijing."

Si Lan was not surprised when she heard this, but she was quite taken aback that the other party would appear in Rongxiang.

It wasn't that she looked down on him, but Rongxiang was mostly inhabited by officials and dignitaries. What was Cheng Feng doing here?

She was puzzled, so she simply asked, "Are you here on business?"

Cheng Feng shook his head, his eyes somewhat dim. "My home is nearby."

Si Lan was very surprised to hear this, but before she could say anything, a passing carriage suddenly stopped.

The car curtain was lifted, revealing Cheng Yisu's face. "You bastard, didn't you leave? What are you doing back here?"

Si Lan looked at her in surprise; how could this person speak so rudely?

Moreover, judging from her tone, she seemed to know Cheng Feng.

Cheng Feng sneered, "None of your business."

Just as Cheng Yisu was about to say something, she suddenly noticed Si Lan standing to the side, and as if she understood something, she suddenly sneered, "You wouldn't happen to have taken a fancy to this slut, would you?"

Si Lan frowned, about to say something, but Cheng Feng spoke first, "Watch your mouth. At least, he's better than you."

This infuriated Cheng Yisu. "You bastard, if you dare, say it again!"

“I’ll say it a hundred times, this girl is better than you. Look at yourself, how old are you? You’re still lazing around at home, thinking you’re something special, but nobody even wants you.” Cheng Feng was furious, deliberately poking at her sore spot.

"You!" As expected, Cheng Yisu's face changed drastically with anger. Clutching her handkerchief, she said hatefully, "You just wait!"

Cheng Feng wasn't afraid of her. He had nothing left, so why would he be afraid of her?

Cheng Yisu left quickly.

After she left, the atmosphere became quiet. Si Lan looked at Cheng Feng and couldn't help but ask, "What's your relationship with that Miss Cheng?"

Cheng Feng's expression calmed down, the anger he had felt during his argument with Cheng Yisu completely gone. He was as serene as a clear spring. "She is my half-sister."

Upon hearing this, Si Lan suddenly understood.

They both shared the surname Cheng; she should have realized it sooner.

However, it's clear that Cheng Feng wasn't having an easy time at home, which is why he went to Xiangzhou and is now performing at the Baihua Tower.

"It's clear that Miss Cheng won't let this go easily. So what are your plans next?" She couldn't help but worry about him.

Just as Cheng Feng was about to say something, he suddenly remembered something, his expression changed, and he hurriedly said, "Miss Si, I have something to attend to, I must go first." After saying that, without waiting for Si Lan to speak, he had already walked quickly away in the direction Cheng Yisu had left.

Si Lan sighed.

Cheng Feng just had a fight with Cheng Yisu, and if he goes back now, he's afraid things won't go well.

She felt sorry for him, but there was nothing she could do to help.

The next day, Si Lan went to the Su family again.

“My brother said that the Emperor and Empress are going to the summer palace in a few days to escape the heat, and asked if any of us would like to go with them. I’d love to go, what about you? Do you want to come too?” Si Lan asked.

After resting for a few days, Su Qianqian's injuries had almost healed, and she could walk on her own without any problems.

Upon hearing this, she was so happy she almost jumped for joy. "That's wonderful! I've been cooped up at home for days, I'm practically turning into mold!" she said, then added with emotion, "Your Majesty is so kind, you even remembered to take us with you."

Si Lan smiled and said, "So, you're willing to come along too?"

"Going to the summer palace to escape the heat? I'd be crazy not to go!" Su Qianqian blinked and said cheerfully. She had been cooped up at home for a few days and had been wanting to go out and play for a while. Going to the summer palace and escaping her mother's nagging was a win-win situation, and she couldn't wait to go.

So the two of them made a plan about what to bring.

As Si Lan was leaving, she remembered something and asked, "By the way, how many children does your aunt have?"

Su Qianqian paused for a moment and replied, "My aunt had two children of her own, one is my cousin and the other is my older cousin. However, my uncle once had a concubine who gave birth to a son, but that concubine passed away a couple of years ago. As for that half-cousin, we don't have much contact with him. I heard that he left the Cheng family last year and went to another place."

Upon hearing this, Si Lan thought to herself, "Just as I thought. No wonder Cheng Yisu acted superior to Cheng Feng."

But what did Cheng Feng do wrong? Cheng Yisu really shouldn't have ridiculed Cheng Feng like that.

Su Qianqian looked at her suspiciously, "Why are you suddenly asking about my aunt's family?"

Si Lan glanced at her and, without hiding anything, told her about how she had run into Cheng Feng on the road yesterday and how she had gotten into a conflict with Cheng Yisu afterwards.

Su Qianqian was very surprised after hearing this, "My cousin really insulted my cousin Cheng Feng like that?"

"Absolutely true!" Si Lan nodded, and immediately started cursing the other person as a bastard, which was really ill-mannered.

But it seems that Su Qianqian doesn't really understand Cheng Yisu's character.

Sure enough, Su Qianqian said angrily, "How could my cousin curse like that? She has no manners at all. My half-brother didn't do anything to her. How could she say such things?"

My aunt always praised her so much, but now it seems that's not the case at all.
