Chapter Ninety-Four: The Prince is Too Thin and His Body is Weak

Just as she was thinking this, she heard the Empress Dowager say, "Knowing that you were going to the palace today, I instructed Granny Zeng early this morning to personally prepare soup for the two of you. The soup has been simmering on the stove all day. Drink it while it's hot before you leave the palace."

Wen Nongnong's expression changed slightly, and she stammered, "No, no need..." She subconsciously glanced at Gu Linchao and saw him sitting there with a cold expression, seemingly unaware of what the Empress Dowager meant by soup.

She paused, then steeled herself and suggested to the Empress Dowager, "I'll pass, I don't need to drink, but Your Highness can drink more. Your Highness is too thin and weak."

Gu Linchao then looked up at her, his phoenix eyes narrowing slightly.

Wen Nongnong immediately turned her face away, feeling somewhat guilty.

"Whether my body is weak or not, doesn't the Princess know best?" Gu Linchao suddenly said in a calm voice.

Wen Nongnong: "..."

What is this guy saying? Anyone who doesn't know the situation would think the two of them were having an affair.

Sure enough, the Empress Dowager's eyes narrowed into slits as she smiled, and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepened considerably.

"Seeing you two getting along so well, I am relieved."

Wen Nongnong was dumbfounded. She opened her mouth as if to explain, but the Empress Dowager looked at her as if she knew everything.

Just then, Granny Zeng came in with the soup, and she had to swallow back the words she was about to say.

Granny Zeng swiftly ladled out the soup and placed it in front of the two of them.

Gu Linchao frowned slightly, but swallowed his words of refusal when he saw the Empress Dowager's deeply wrinkled face.

He picked up the bowl and drank it all in one gulp.

Wen Nongnong stared at him blankly.

Has this guy forgotten about the nosebleed he had last time?

She was hoping he would refuse, but to her surprise, he drank it so readily.

"Your Highness, please drink it while it's hot," Granny Zeng urged from the side.

Wen Nongnong opened her lips, then suddenly lowered her head, saying shyly, "Mother, my period is coming. It might not be appropriate for me to drink this soup..."

The Empress Dowager and Granny Zeng were both taken aback, but quickly recovered.

Gu Linchao pondered for a while before he realized what the letter period was.

He clenched his fingers uncomfortably.

"You child, now that your time has come, why are you still so reckless, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with others? What if you get hurt?" the Empress Dowager said anxiously.

"I... I should be alright..." Wen Nongnong said, to avoid making the old man worry too much, she could only say, "I only found out that we were here after I finished my martial arts match."

Gu Linchao listened to her speaking fluently and obliviously, then pursed his thin lips, picked up his teacup, and took a sip of tea.

"Oh dear, how could you be so foolish?" The Empress Dowager was both angry and anxious.

Wen Nongnong quickly said, "Mother, don't worry. I'm in good health, I'll be fine. And I won't do it again next time, really."

The Empress Dowager sighed, took her hand and instructed, "Don't think that just because you're young, you can take it lightly. Let me tell you, a woman's body can't be neglected from the very beginning. You have to take good care of your health so that you won't be plagued by illnesses when you get old."

Wen Nongnong lowered her head. "Nongnong understands. I won't joke around with my health anymore." She paused, then glanced at the soup in Granny Zeng's hand. "Then this soup..."

"Since you can't drink today, then let Chao'er drink it," the Empress Dowager said helplessly.

Granny Zeng then brought the soup to Gu Linchao.
