Chapter Twenty-Six seemed to penetrate one's heart.

Upon hearing her voice, Gu Linchao glanced at her with his cold eyes.

This woman made no attempt to conceal her purpose; she practically said that she did it to please the Empress Dowager.

Moreover, when she said those words, she did so naturally and sincerely, without the slightest hesitation or embarrassment, as if she truly meant it.

Gu Linchao withdrew his gaze, his phoenix eyes slightly lowered.

This woman has such a thick skin!

No one else could flatter people so naturally and smoothly as she did.

Upon hearing this, the Empress Dowager's wrinkles deepened, and she chuckled, scolding, "Who spread such nonsense? I clearly prefer bright colors. Besides, a young girl like you should dress in bright colors; that's what makes you look good." As she spoke, she glanced meaningfully at Gu Linchao and said cryptically, "Chao'er, what do you say?"

Gu Linchao frowned. "If Mother thinks so, then so be it."

The Empress Dowager was somewhat dissatisfied with his answer. She opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but considering her son's temperament and the estrangement between them, she ultimately gave up.

Empress Dowager Guo smiled and said, "Nongnong is such a sweet and considerate girl. The Regent is so lucky." Then, she changed the subject and looked at Wen Nongnong, "But Nongnong, the person you need to please right now is not the Grand Empress Dowager."

Wen Nongnong blinked, looking bewildered, and said, "Then who should I try to please?"

Empress Dowager Guo glanced at Gu Linchao, her smile deepening. "What do you think?"

For some reason, Wen Nongnong felt something was off when she saw Gu Linchao glance at her.

Empress Dowager Guo is actually quite young, only in her early thirties this year. With her meticulous care, some people would believe she is only twenty.

It's a pity that she became a widow at such a young age.

Wen Nongnong couldn't figure out what was strange about it, so she gave up and went along with her words, saying, "Does Your Majesty mean that I should try to please the Prince?"

Empress Dowager Guo smiled but remained silent.

A hint of shyness appeared on Wen Nongnong's face at the right moment. Her beautiful peach blossom eyes glanced at Gu Linchao discreetly, and she whispered, "Your Majesty, I understand."

Her voice was already beautiful, and coupled with her shy expression, it seemed to penetrate one's heart.

Gu Linchao frowned slightly, picked up the teacup beside him, and took a sip.

Seeing Wen Nong Nong's girlish demeanor and her son's aloof expression without any sign of rejection, the Empress Dowager felt even more that the two were a perfect match and that her initial marriage decree was correct.

"Chao'er, Nong Nong is a good girl, you must treat her well."

Gu Linchao paused for a moment before saying, "Your subject understands."

The Empress Dowager was relieved and beckoned to Wen Nongnong kindly, "Come, Nongnong, sit down next to me and keep me company."

Wen Nong Nong glanced at Gu Linchao, and seeing that he didn't say anything, she lifted her skirt and walked to the Empress Dowager's side.

Just as the palace maids were about to move a chair, the Empress Dowager stopped them, saying, "No need to move it, Nong Nong will sit with me." With that, she took Wen Nong Nong's hand and made her sit down.

Wen Nongnong was somewhat flattered and thought to herself, "The Empress Dowager is really kind and gentle. She is not at all like the kind of powerful figures in palace dramas who inspire fear and dread."

"Why is Nong Nong looking at me like that?" The Empress Dowager noticed and asked gently.
