Chapter 28 Sour Words

"After staying here for so many days, it's finally time to go back." The little guard rode leisurely on his horse, looking quite content.

Lin Ziwen glanced at him and sneered, "These days, some people chat with every pretty palace maid they meet, and they eat more than anyone else. In the end, you're the one who seems the most uncomfortable."

Upon hearing this, the young guard straightened his back and said, "I didn't. I've been thinking about home the whole time."

Lin Ziwen shook his head and smiled, without saying anything.

Before long, they arrived at the city gate. Su Lixia peeked out from afar, gazing at the Wangjing sign high up until it disappeared from sight.

Lin Ziwen noticed this, rode his horse to Su Lixia's side, and said, "Given how far the journey is, Princess, you have never traveled such a long distance before, have you?"

Such a long journey? Does high-speed rail or regular train count?

Su Lixia shook her head and said, "I've always been in the capital and haven't been to any faraway places yet."

"If the journey is bumpy and my princess feels uncomfortable, please tell me."

"Okay." Su Lixia smiled slightly.

Lin Ziwen nodded and then followed Yi Zexuan and the others.

The young guard teased, "Our young master and the princess are getting closer, aren't they?"

"The princess is all alone and has no friends. I am her first good friend, so we are naturally close. Are you perhaps envious or jealous?"

The guard scoffed and said, "Why would I be envious or jealous? I don't covet anything."

Upon hearing this, Lin Ziwen asked in confusion, "So you mean that I, this young master, covet the princess? Then what is it that I covet?"

The young guard was speechless, realizing he had said the wrong thing, but he still stubbornly insisted, "I don't know that. Shouldn't you know the answer yourself?"

"Alright, stop spreading rumors. The princess is our honored guest. Watch your words and actions from now on, or you'll be finished if the princess's people hear you."

Yi Zexuan was speaking to the young guard, who, upon hearing this, pursed his lips and said, "I know."

Lin Ziwen smiled helplessly and said, "He rarely acts aggressively towards me. I don't know what got into him today."

"It's almost noon, let's speed up, we'll be at the inn by evening. Giddy up!" Yi Zexuan said, then spurred his horse and galloped away.

The carriage suddenly accelerated, and Su Lixia, who was lying down, almost rolled off. She exclaimed, "Oh my god! Why did it suddenly accelerate?"

Xiao Lian covered her mouth and smiled, explaining, "I heard from people outside that we need to arrive at the inn before evening."

Su Lixia raised an eyebrow and nodded, saying, "Then it seems we'll have to eat lunch in the carriage."

Xiaolian nodded and said, "Yes, but the preparations are very complete. This morning the cook specially cooked a few dishes and they are all well protected so they won't get cold by noon."

"Okay." Su Lixia stretched and then lay back down.

The carriage had been running for a long time, and since the interior was well-shaded, Xiaolian could only lift the curtain and look out the window, observing the sun and calculating the time.

"Time flies. It feels like I just took a nap, and it's already noon."

Hearing the sound, Su Lixia sat up. The carriage was bumpy and she was still a bit drowsy, but she had been sleeping the whole time, so it was alright.

Yawning and stretching, I felt a bit listless.

He poked his head out and shouted, "Lin Ziwen!"

Hearing the sound, he and the young guard turned their heads together.

"Oh! I'm talking to you!" the little guard said sarcastically.

Upon hearing this, Lin Ziwen glared at him: "What the prince told you earlier, you've already forgotten it so quickly?"

The young guard pursed his lips and remained silent.
