Chapter 89 Croton

"Yes, let's eat here so the princess won't go hungry for too long. It's not the best food, but it's about right. If the princess doesn't like it, she can just eat a couple of bites to tide her over, and then we'll go somewhere else."

Su Lixia waved her hand and said, "No need, no need to be so picky about this. Something that's good enough is fine. Let's go in."

With that, the two went inside one after the other.

Lin Ziwen ordered food and had some snacks served to her first to fill her stomach.

Su Lixia ate slowly, then heard Lin Ziwen ask, "I was so frightened to see the princess collapse today, but speaking of which, why didn't the princess eat?"

Su Lixia made up an excuse: "Oh, well, this is a garden party. It's my first time in the palace, so I had to take it seriously. I wasted time getting dressed and didn't have time to eat. As a result, I was still quite late."

"Princess, there's no need to rush. You should still eat as usual. It's fine if it's a little late, it's not a very important occasion."

"Okay." After saying that, Su Lixia seemed to remember something and looked up to ask, "Aren't you going back?"

Lin Ziwen shrugged and said, "I don't even know why the Empress invited me to that kind of event. Isn't that a place for rich young ladies? I, a grown man, would be too out of place there, so why would I go back?"

"What am I doing? Going back to find your stupid second female lead! She actually wants to give someone a chin injection!" Su Lixia thought to herself.

"Oh well."

Meanwhile, in the palace...

Miss Zhang openly took out the croton oil, while the maid beside her watched in fear and asked, "Miss, do you really want to do this?"

Seeing her frightened look, Miss Zhang couldn't help but roll her eyes at her and said, "What are you afraid of? Let her have some diarrhea, what's the big deal?"

After saying that, he put the croton seeds into the garlic jar, then took a rolling pin and pounded them into powder. He then picked up a little and put it into the cup he was going to give to Xue Yurou.

"Look, you can't tell from this, can you?" Miss Zhang picked up the cup and showed it to the maid.

The girl shook her head and said, "I really can't tell, but..."

"Then it's alright, not 'but'." With that, he picked it up and left.

"I've kept the ladies waiting, here you go." Miss Zhang handed out a cup to each of them one by one, and finally gave one to Xue Yurou.

"Why are you so late? You're only arriving now."

"The wine was in the jar, and no one helped me get it. It took me a long time to get it out, and then I had to distribute it into cups for you, which is why I'm late."

Someone chuckled and said, "We could have just brought the wine jug over directly; there was no need for all this trouble."

"Oh? You're too kind. It's no trouble at all, just something I happened to be doing. Come on, let's toast." With that, Ms. Zhang raised her glass, ready to drink with everyone.

"Cheers." The girls raised their glasses as well, and Xue Yurou and the others drank together.

Miss Zhang chuckled to herself with a smug look on her face, then chatted with everyone for a while before saying, "I'm going to pay my respects to Her Majesty the Empress. You all continue your conversation."

"Okay." Everyone agreed and said goodbye to her.

"Miss, didn't we already pay our respects to Her Majesty when we arrived?" the maid asked, puzzled.

Upon hearing this, Miss Zhang sighed softly and said, "How can you be so clueless? You said you were going to pay your respects, but you're actually going back to your residence. Do you want to stay here and get caught red-handed?"

The girl scratched her head, frowned, and followed.

Miss Zhang didn't reveal much information, and after everyone left, Xue Yurou didn't seem to have any issues.
