Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Main City

The restaurant waiter looked at the empty private room.

A look of confusion crossed his eyes.

Then a scream rang out: "Sir, you haven't paid your bill yet!"

Gu Mu shifted his consciousness away from the top of the hidden city, no longer maintaining a bird's-eye view.

Because he saw that someone was coming from ahead.

Shen Ling, dressed in a light white veil, slowly stepped into the courtyard.

The sunlight on her exquisite face added a touch of warmth to her originally aloof and cold expression.

She wasn't in a good mood.

Because His Highness the Underworld has not yet been found.

The princess, with her low spirits, exuded a gloomy aura.

Just then, Youyou, who was following behind her, stepped into the courtyard, and a white oil-paper umbrella was promptly placed over Shen Ling's head.

It cast a shadow right on her face.

Shen Ling raised her chin, tilted her head slightly, and a faint smile appeared on her face. Her voice was low but very gentle: "Is Your Highness alright?"

Gu Mu in front of me looks much better than before.

All of this was observed by Shen Ling.

That means His Highness is out of danger.

Gu Mu was still covered in gray grime, and his outer garment was casually draped over his body.

This is completely inconsistent with his usual image.

But Chen Ling didn't seem to mind at all.

Instead, a faint smile appeared in his eyes.

She just looked up at Gu Mu like that.

Although he still exuded an aura that kept strangers at bay, his eyes were brighter than usual when he looked at Gu Mu, as if they were filled with little stars.

"I know some medical skills, so let me take a look at Your Highness," Shen Ling said with a captivating smile.

Gu Mu's study.

He and Shen Ling sat facing each other at the table. Gu Mu pulled his sleeves down to his elbows and rested his hands on the table.

Shen Ling used her hand to feel his pulse.

It still feels cold to the touch.

But it was exceptionally delicate, soft and smooth, just like the hands of a girl who never did any housework.

It draped over Gu Mu's slightly tanned skin, making it appear exceptionally white and handsome.

Shen Ling didn't seem to care about these details.

Although ancient times emphasized that men and women should not have physical contact, at this time she was a doctor, and Gu Mu was her husband in name only.

This wasn't the first time she had taken Gu Mu's pulse.

She lowered her eyes slightly, looking very calm.

Only she and Gu Mu were in the house. The door, which had been torn down, was wide open, and bright sunlight streamed in through the window.

The light shone on the two ethereal figures.

It was as if it had been frozen into a stunning painting.

The room was so quiet that only the sound of each person breathing could be heard.

"Your Highness, I'm really alright now," Shen Ling said calmly, her tone detached and cold, revealing no emotion.

"I just don't know why Your Highness is in such a sorry state. You've just recovered from a serious illness, so please change your clothes and get some rest."

Shen Ling, unusually, uttered some words of concern.

Whether these words of concern stemmed from fear of his death or were merely for show, no one knows.

Anyway, it wasn't that she really cared about him.

Shen Ling withdrew her hand, stood up, and after learning that Gu Mu was really alright, her expression relaxed a lot. She smiled gently and said, "Since Your Highness is alright, I will not disturb Your Highness's rest any longer."

She came here to visit Gu Mu.

Let's see if he's about to die.

Since Gu Mu isn't dying, there's not much point in her staying here.

As she walked out of Gu Mu's courtyard and returned to Xue Luo Courtyard, a look of confusion appeared on Chen Ling's face.

"Oh, you mean, His Highness went to the execution ground this morning and personally beheaded those death row inmates, one by one?"

"Then, after returning, His Highness suddenly... became better?"

Shen Ling murmured softly.

She was knowledgeable in medicine and naturally knew how serious His Highness's condition had been; he had one foot in the grave.

But... it suddenly got better in such a short time.

"It really is... very strange." A sense of doubt arose in Shen Ling's heart.

If some of the previous changes can be explained by the butterfly effect.

But His Highness's change is so great that it cannot be explained by the butterfly effect alone.

Could it be that something happened to His Highness after she was reborn?

"The most important thing right now is to deal with the people who threaten His Highness's life." There was a hint of coldness in Shen Ling's tone: "Better to kill a thousand innocent people than let one guilty person go free."

"Your Highness... I will not let anything happen to you..."

"At least, before I want you dead."

She would not let anyone who could potentially threaten Her Highness go unpunished.

After Shen Ling left, a lively maid brought in bathwater.

Gu Mu took a hot shower and changed into clean clothes.

I feel much more refreshed after the marrow cleansing.

He has not yet used the special energy he has gained.

After all, the Prince's mansion needs to be replaced every time it's used. Although he has plenty of money, he is being too extravagant.

Moreover, the servants of the Prince's mansion would probably be suspicious if they saw so many items, suddenly burned black, being carried out of the Regent's room.

Even if they don't say it, they'll still have doubts in their hearts.

Gu Mu didn't want to cause too much of a stir.

However, he gave his special energy a name—Blazing Power.

It has the power to melt everything with its intense heat.

At this moment, he was alone in the room, quieted down, and continued to open the Hidden City panel, overlooking everything that was happening in the Hidden City.
