"Qi Yu, don't kill me."
Li Xiaoxiao's voice brought Qi Yu back from his reverie. Qi Yu slowly climbed onto the bed and held her in his arms, finally feeling a little warmer. Li Xiaoxiao clung to him and finally stopped whining and begging him not to kill her.
Qi Yu closed his eyes and fell asleep as well. His body was no longer so cold, and he felt much warmer. He needed to spend his whole life atoning for the sins of his previous life. Even if Li Xiaoxiao regained all her memories, she might not love him anymore.
So in this short time, we must create more happiness and do more to protect her, even if it's a second chance at life.
Qi Yu also closed his eyes and fell asleep. The two of them had a particularly comfortable dream. In the dream, Li Xiaoxiao also met Qi Yu from her previous life. They were very loving. When she woke up in the morning, Li Xiaoxiao was lying in Qi Yu's arms. The man was still fast asleep, and there was a child next to him. Li Xiaoxiao breathed a sigh of relief.
We're leaving for the Heavenly Stems Academy tomorrow, so we need to make preparations today.
Although the finishing touches were almost done, Li Xiaoxiao still needed to find Chen Xueqing. Early in the morning, Chen Xueqing was waiting at the door. Li Xiaoxiao opened the door after washing up and found Chen Xueqing there.
"My lord, there are still some matters to attend to. However, I would like to accompany you to the capital. Although I cannot directly enter the academy, it would be my honor to be by your side."
More importantly, she could no longer stay here and could not let her mind be disturbed.
“You were already planning to take care of your business here anyway, so let’s go together.” Li Xiaoxiao pulled Chen Xueqing into the house and handed her a storage ring.
An Cheng was lying on her bed scrolling through short videos. It was winter, and the cold wind was howling outside, with a light drizzle falling. All her roommates had gone out for internships, leaving her alone in the dorm.
She is currently studying in the School of Media and Communication. Her roommates have all found some minor roles in film crews, but she hasn't found one yet.
She recently developed an illness, and An Cheng suspects she has some mental health issues.
"Hi there, I like you, we like each other too, hahaha."
She was in a daze for a moment, the voice lingering in her ears, sometimes near, sometimes far. She reluctantly looked up and found a pale, bluish-white woman's head above her, looking like she was both crying and laughing, with a blood-red mouth open. Cold sweat broke out on her back.
When the woman saw that An Cheng had found her, a glimmer of light appeared in her eyes, but it was all swallowed up by her long, wet, black hair.
Just as the woman was about to say something more, a series of sharp pains came, and she seemed to hear a whistle in the distance.
She screamed in agony, her cries heart-wrenching, dark red blood streaming down her blurred face. She walked away, yelling, "You saw me, why didn't you help me? I'll come back, ahhh!"
Upon seeing the woman's head, An Cheng immediately buried himself under the covers. Inside the covers, a pale, smiling face appeared in his imagination, muttering something mournfully.
She trembled with fear, covered her face with the pillow, and began to sob.
Actually, she started seeing these things when she turned eighteen.
But she didn't know who to tell, and kept it to herself, afraid that others would find out she was mentally ill.
An Cheng only dared to cry quietly when no one was around, praying that she would never see it again.
She broke down, muttering repeatedly, "Please stop bothering me. I haven't done anything wrong. I've never done anything against my conscience."
She kept repeating this to herself for a long time, the voice still seemingly lingering, "I'm so lonely, you have to stay with me forever..."
The voice lingered in the air for a long time, then gradually weakened until it disappeared completely.
Only then did she dare to pull back the blanket, revealing half of her beautiful, tear-stained face, and carefully survey her surroundings with her clear eyes, even after crying.
Seeing that there was nothing left, An Cheng wiped the sweat from his forehead and wiped the corners of his eyes, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
It's finally over, it's finally over, everything's back to normal.
An Cheng's phone was still playing short videos, but she couldn't concentrate on them anymore and raised her hand to turn off the phone.
Just then, her phone rang. It was a text message from her mother. She stared at it for a long time before slowly sighing.
A wave of sadness washed over her, and she turned her gaze to the ceiling above, lost in thought.
Short message:
“Son, you should go to work soon. Your father was in a car accident four years ago and he still hasn’t gotten better. You’re a senior in college now, and the family has run out of money to support your studies. In a few years, I won’t be able to support your younger brother anymore, and we’ll be relying on your job to earn money. Your father and I have decided to give up on treatment. We’ve already spent 1.8 million yuan, and a full recovery is impossible. He’ll need at least three years of recovery. He’s also been diagnosed with other illnesses, and I think his chances of survival are slim.”
An Cheng reminisced about the memories of her home: a big house where her mother meticulously prepared meals while humming a pleasant song, her father sat on the sofa leisurely reading the newspaper, her younger brother lay on the blanket playing with a toy train, and she quietly played the piano, enjoying the sunlight streaming through the window.
As she thought about it, her eyes welled up with tears. Things were different now. Her father was hospitalized, her mother was constantly complaining, her younger brother didn't say much and just sat blankly in his room, and she herself was in a daze every day.
She knew she had to work and take responsibility, but she was terrified of encountering anything else strange.
An Cheng raised her hand to cover her tear-streaked eyes and curled up helplessly towards the child.
On the other side, a cluster of retro European-style villas stands tall, like a huge ancient castle. The lights gradually disappear as the floors go out, until only the dim yellow light leaks out from the top floor on the side.
