Xuanyuan Mengsi had no choice but to grit his teeth and try to keep up with the others.
Bai Yi and Bai Han had been training their physical fitness for several months, so they were able to walk with ease. In addition, Qi Wenzhu had prepared some props for them, so the group walked up the mountain with relative ease.
Bai Yi and Bai Han's eyes were firm. They both knew that if others failed, they could try again, but they couldn't.
They had no choice but to keep moving forward, for only in this way could they survive, stay by their master's side, and live openly as monks.
"Master, what's wrong with you lately?" Bai Yi was already very tired, but she still couldn't help but look at Li Xiaoxiao. Her master was acting strangely today, and seemed very fragile. This was never the state her master should be in.
"Bai Yi, I'm fine," Li Xiaoxiao replied weakly. She needed to think about something: why did the door let her in after it detected that she was a demon?
All of this seemed so bizarre.
Bai Yi glanced at Li Xiaoxiao a few more times to make sure she was alright before continuing on her way.
Qi Wenzhu felt a bit tired as he walked. He hadn't been training enough, and with his cultivation at the Golden Core stage, the pressure he was under was immense, given the mechanisms of this plane.
People with low spiritual power will also bear more and more pressure, just like in life, people with lower cultivation levels will bear more risks.
However, he could not give up. If he couldn't get through this today, he would die, and once he left this sect, no one would be able to protect him.
Qi Wenzhu gritted his teeth and persevered. Never before had he felt so determined. If his brother could do that, he could too.
He clearly dreamt of everything that happened to Qi Yu in the secret realm. In every scene, Qi Yu was on the verge of death, but he persevered.
This was just a very simple test, but Qi Wenzhu felt as if the blood in her body was being squeezed, filled with pain and despair.
However, this is only the beginning of the journey; half of the people have already fallen along the way or turned back.
They still have ten mountains to climb.
The group walked and rested intermittently. Qi Yu never walked very fast; instead, he walked very slowly, waiting for the others to join him.
He Chunying was covered in sweat, but she persevered, her hatred burning within her. The future seemed endless, just like her life.
Qi Yu remained calm and composed, showing no sign of impatience. Xuan Yuan Ying, swaying on Qi Yu's head, was so sleepy that he fell asleep immediately.
Li Xiaoxiao felt the mountain breeze and birdsong in the man's arms, with the sounds of flowing water all around. The fragrance emanating from Qi Yu was particularly intoxicating, and she quickly fell asleep.
Both of them were asleep. Qi Yu felt a little helpless, but his heart softened. His most beloved wife was in his arms. He was the most reliable person. He could protect his wife and child. Their family would be very happy.
The scene of the family enjoying themselves brought a smile to Bai Yi and Bai Han's faces. They couldn't stay with their mother because of their special constitution; if they stayed, their mother might die.
Blood was already spilling from Qi Wenzhu's mouth, but he was extremely happy inside. His brother was his brother, who bore the responsibility for a family and even for them, the weak. If he had treated his brother better in the past, he wouldn't have ended up in such a terrible situation.
Qi Yu is his family. As for Cai Shi, who wanted to use him to reincarnate, her body rotting there has nothing to do with him.
"Brother, sister-in-law is asleep. When can I be hugged by you? I can't take it anymore."
Qi Wenzhu deliberately spoke to provoke Qi Yu, making a joke on purpose. Qi Yu looked at him impatiently and said, "If you keep talking nonsense, I'll kick you off the mountain."
"Ran'er!!" The woman's shrill scream almost pierced Tao Ran's eardrums. Tao Ran frowned. What was that sound?
She struggled to open her eyes and saw a pale, emaciated woman sitting by the bed, weeping bitterly.
What's going on?
Tao Ran was completely bewildered. Just a few minutes ago, she was fighting to the death with zombies, but unfortunately, she was outnumbered. Too lazy to waste her energy, she simply threw away her machete, closed her eyes, and waited to die. How did she end up here when she opened her eyes?
What is this place?
Looking at the large spiders hanging down from the beams that had been infested with insects, Tao Ran closed her eyes again. Why was there an old woman's face in front of her? Wasn't she surrounded by zombies?
She must have opened her eyes wrong.
Or is she already dead? Has she gone to another world?
Tao Ran shook her head. She must have been numb from being eaten by zombies and was hallucinating.
"Mom, Mom, I saw my sister open her eyes!" The boy, who was barely tall enough to reach the bed, tiptoed and quickly glanced at his sister lying on the bed, then tugged at his mother's sleeve.
"Ran'er, are you still alive? Don't scare your mother!" Upon hearing this, a light flashed in the woman's originally dull eyes, and she shook Tao Ran's shoulders violently.
Tao Ran felt like she could faint again.
"Don't...don't shake me," Tao Ran said, feeling dizzy and lightheaded. He had no choice but to speak, but his voice was barely audible.
She clutched her neck in terror. What was wrong with her? This listless, frail state was not like her at all. In the apocalypse, she couldn't survive like this.
"Mommy, Mommy, my sister is still alive!" The little one laughed happily and ran out in a flash. "I'll go get my sister some porridge."
In the room, only Tao Ran remained, staring blankly at the woman who was weeping with her face covered.
"It's all my fault. I'm incompetent. I couldn't raise you and your brother. If it weren't for trying to save that little bit of food, my Ran'er would have almost starved to death. It's all my fault."
