Chapter Fifty-Nine: That Scoundrel Brother-in-Law

Wu Xinyue was in a rare good mood, so she went up and gave some pointers to a few children. These children were quite talented and would indeed amount to something when they grew up.

Seeing that she was in a good mood, Li Xiaoxiao didn't disturb her too much. However, she became increasingly uneasy, filled with all sorts of worries, feeling that something was going to happen. Now she had to go find Qi Yu.

The only person who could make her panic was Qi Yu. Her husband didn't know any martial arts, and she didn't dare to even think about what might happen to him. "Mother, please stay home and check on them. I need to go out for a bit."

Without waiting for Wu Xinyue's agreement, Li Xiaoxiao started running and leaping back and forth in the mountains, quickly heading downhill.

However, halfway there, they discovered something was wrong. There were three people lurking in the shadows, and these people were all skilled in cultivation.

Although Li Xiaoxiao does not yet have the ability to draw spirits into her body, she has no problem sensing spiritual energy.

They didn't know much about this continent, but these people were far inferior to Ye Linghua from before.

Li Xiaoxiao summoned the Reaper's Scythe from her spatial storage. Having not fought for a long time, she had almost forgotten that she was originally an assassin who survived by stepping on countless corpses.

"Come out, who are you waiting for here?"

Li Xiaoxiao gripped a half-scythe and vanished instantly. The three assassins immediately drew their greatswords to defend themselves.

"It's a fierce woman, everyone be careful."

At the leader's shout, the three immediately dispersed around, forming a triangle around Li Xiaoxiao.

With a swift motion, Li Xiaoxiao swung her sickle behind her back, leaned forward as if taking a running start, and then vanished in an instant, looking down at one of the people in the crowd.

The moment the woman's body disappeared and reappeared, only her front could be seen, and then the scythe behind her slashed down. It was clear that the leader of the assassins had barely managed to block it with his Moon Shadow Divine Sword. The huge scythe pressed down on the leader's body, and the two people next to him took the opportunity to launch a sneak attack. Unfortunately, Li Xiaoxiao let go of her hand and directly grabbed the revolver, sweeping it towards the two men. The two men instinctively dodged, but one of them was unable to dodge in time and was directly hit by the beam of the revolver, a huge hole piercing his heart, and he fell to the ground.

Li Xiaoxiao released the revolver, grabbed the iron chain connecting the revolver and the giant scythe, and then swung the giant scythe to block the leader's sword attack.

The speed was so fast that the two of them were injured more and more as they dodged. Finally, Li Xiaoxiao flashed to the side of the leader and kicked him in the chest.

The man's heart shattered into hundreds of pieces inside, and he collapsed to the ground, coughing up blood. Li Xiaoxiao continued to swing her revolver and fired at the last man. The man instinctively dodged, but Li Xiaoxiao grabbed the chain and swung it, disappearing from the spot. By the time the man realized what was happening, Li Xiaoxiao was already standing in front of him, revealing a wicked smile.

The assassin was stunned for a moment, then the huge scythe suddenly came down, severing his head and splattering blood all over Li Xiaoxiao.

In that instant, most of the ominous signs in Li Xiaoxiao's heart suddenly disappeared.

"It's been a long time since I've killed anyone, so I'm still a little unaccustomed to it."

Li Xiaoxiao found one or two thousand taels of silver and three tokens on their bodies, and discovered that they all had a snake and a circle tattooed on their legs.

This is a strange organization.

Li Xiaoxiao set the three corpses on fire and continued on her way. Fortunately, she was wearing a bright red silk dress that day, so the bloodstains on her clothes were barely visible.

She soon arrived in the county, but Li Xiaoxiao did not go directly into the academy. Instead, she walked around the streets of Yunlili, observing everything.

Everything was as usual, the streets were bustling with people. As she was walking, a group of people surrounded her. She didn't know what the dispute was about. Li Xiaoxiao was about to leave.

Someone in the crowd spotted Li Xiaoxiao and shouted, "The fierce woman is here! Everyone make way!"

At that shout, the crowd scattered, and now Li Xiaoxiao couldn't leave even if she wanted to.

In the middle of the crowd, a burly man was beating a very thin-looking man, while a girl who looked like a little girl was wielding a whip.

The man kept shouting, "Help, help, save me."

The voice was very familiar, and when she looked at the face, Li Xiaoxiao almost didn't remember the person. Wasn't this Qi Yu's younger brother, Qi Wenzhu?

"How did he get beaten up like this?" The surrounding crowd whispered among themselves. It turned out that the assailant was Feng Caiyi, a princess.

Qi Wenzhu was still screaming in pain.

Feng Caiyi would never have come to this town in her life, but the Empress Dowager mentioned it casually. She said that in the back cover of the Duke of Kaiguo's book, there was a village called Xinghua Village in Yunli County, and the Li family had a way to cure diseases.

I heard that several of her servants had been completely disfigured, but after coming to the Li family, they all regained their original appearances.

She had just suffered a large cut on half of her face and rushed to Yunli County. On the way, she bumped into a beggar who wouldn't leave and even tried to stage an accident to extort money from her. But she was too eager to get medical treatment, so she got so angry that she couldn't help but beat up the beggar who had messed with her.

But before he could even crack the whip a few times, Qi Wenzhu started wailing and crying, she was utterly trash to the core.

"What are you yelling for? I haven't even used my full strength yet. You're trying to scam me, saying you'll seriously injure me. I'll beat you seriously right now."

Just as the princess was about to continue hitting, Li Xiaoxiao called out, "Princess, I beg you to show mercy. I am Li Xiaoxiao from the Li family, and the man under your command is my husband's younger brother. We can talk things over."

Li Xiaoxiao mentally complained that she shouldn't have passed by here. Someone was calling her, and if she didn't respond, she would inevitably be labeled as cold-blooded. More importantly, Qi Wenzhu couldn't die; he was still of some use.

Qi Wenzhu was being beaten when she heard Li Xiaoxiao's voice and thought she had a savior. But when she saw that it was Li Xiaoxiao, she was so frightened that she froze on the spot. "How come it's Li Xiaoxiao here?"

Upon hearing the name Li Xiaoxiao, Feng Caiyi immediately stopped and looked Li Xiaoxiao up and down. This was the woman the Empress Dowager had described as possessing both beauty and wisdom.

She is indeed very beautiful.

"You are Li Xiaoxiao, fine, I'll spare him for now, considering he's your husband's younger brother."

Feng Caiyi was not tall, only a little over five feet, and she wore a mask that covered half of her face, making the exposed half look particularly cute. Her figure looked like that of a child.

"Thank you, Princess."

Li Xiaoxiao clasped her hands in a salute to Feng Caiyi, who snorted coldly, "How come your brother-in-law looks like this? He looks like a beggar no matter how you look at him."

"Yes, Wenzhu is indeed a bit of a troublemaker." He still needs to be properly trained and taught a lesson before he can be brought under our control.

Although Qi Wenzhu was down on her luck in the early part of the book, she became incredibly powerful later on. I had forgotten some of the details in the book before, and now it seems unbelievable.

Qi Wenzhu is actually quite a figure.

It's a pity he's too unruly now and needs to be properly disciplined. Last time, a group of people from the Qian family came to her asking for land, and it was Qi Wenzhu's bad idea that led to this. Tao Biao listened to Qi Wenzhu and tried to mislead Zhao Ke and the Qian family, and was eventually sentenced to death, while Qi Wenzhu became a beggar and got away with nothing.

Tao Biao died without ever knowing that Qi Wenzhu had tricked him into doing this.

The Qian family was also dragged into this, and in the end, two thousand taels of silver were confiscated in the county. All of this was done without him noticing. Last time, she clearly saw Qi Wenzhu in the crowd.
