Chapter Forty-One: Breaking the Image

The beggar, tears streaming down his face, kowtowed repeatedly, crying out, "This is hell! This is hell! The place we live in must be hell! Savior! Savior!"

Li Xiaoxiao carefully recalled the contents of the book, but there was no mention of any beggars. She had read the book a long time ago, and she didn't remember the details very clearly.

I remember Qi Yu's fate very clearly; it was extremely tragic. At the time, the novel was not yet finished, and the ending was unclear.

There are two villains in the book. One is a white-haired man whose name I've forgotten. He wants to ascend to heaven to find his lover who has already ascended.

Could it be this person?

Isn't this person supposed to be a crucial character who appears later in the story? Why did he appear so early on? It doesn't make sense.

"Madam Li, please be careful, please be careful."

The beggar stood up to leave, but as he did, he looked back at Li Xiaoxiao one last time. There was a red glowing star between her eyebrows, which meant there might be hope.

"Grandpa, it's a long journey, please take some wine and snacks." Li Xiaoxiao took out some wine, crabs, and seasonings.

The old beggar took it with trembling hands. In the distance, the sunset painted the mountains red, and a faint smile appeared on his lips as his figure gradually disappeared.

Just as she was about to leave, a tattered book appeared on the ground, with only a few broken words on it: "The Record of Ascension".

Strangely, the Ascension Record only contained blank, yellowed pages.

"That's strange."

But this book must be extraordinary, so she picked it up and put it in her spatial storage.

Qi Yu approached, his tone quite concerned, "Wife, what about that old man?" He looked at the void before him, his eyes narrowing involuntarily, his expression instantly becoming complicated.

But in a tree not far away, there was clearly her aunt standing, her eyes filled with tears, staring intently at the place where she had disappeared.

"You're back."

Suddenly, Li Xiaoxiao felt a murderous aura, and her figure disappeared from the spot, rushing towards the distant woods.

Qi Yu also sensed something was wrong and hurriedly followed. Green Snake also sensed something was wrong and hurriedly ran out of the house and ran into the mountains.

The Li family fell into silence.

At this moment, a man stood in front of Li Xiaoxiao, his silver hair flowing in the wind. He was very powerful, and even the zombie royal family from her previous life had not given her such a strong sense of oppression.

“I didn’t want to kill you originally, but that old guy insisted on prophesying about a savior. If I don’t kill you, wouldn’t that prove his prophecy correct?”

He simply said a few words, and with a wave of his hand, he set up a barrier around them, preventing the green snake and the others from entering.

She's a menace.

His divination indicates there will be no problem; the plan is about to be disrupted, and this situation cannot be allowed.

Why is it that this ordinary woman can actually influence the changes in the stars? With her support, the star that originally represented Qi Yu has begun to shine brightly, and the trend is very positive. This is not the original trajectory.

It's too far off from his goal.

A ring of lightsabers appeared behind Ye Linghua, increasing in number row by row, with the bullseye of the swords aimed at Li Xiaoxiao.

Li Xiaoxin was extremely anxious, and her hands were trembling. This was the closest she had ever been to death. She had been having a smooth life lately and had almost forgotten that the world was not so simple.

If she had a space, she could easily hide inside and escape, but if she escaped, everyone in the Li family would be targeted, and she would have to protect them, so she couldn't escape.

Li Xiaoxiao took out a high-tech beam revolver and a giant scythe, the Death Scythe, from her spatial storage. These were weapons she had placed in her spatial storage when she was harvesting zombies in her previous life.

It was also her most handy weapon; the revolver was attached to the handle of the giant scythe. Holding the Grim Reaper's Scythe, her entire aura suddenly changed.

The fear and timidity he felt earlier vanished in an instant, his eyes grew even colder, and he swung his sickle forward, signifying his acceptance of the challenge.

Ye Linghua remained unmoved. The blood-red black scythe was nothing to him. With a wave of his hand, the lightsaber hurtled towards her.

Amidst the clash of swords, a delicate voice rang out, "Open the Eight Gates, the First Gate Opens, the Second Gate Rests, the Third Gate Lives, the Fourth Gate Wounds."

Instead of being swallowed by countless lightsabers, she burst out from the swarm of lightsabers, her body moving at incredible speed as she wielded a blood-red scythe towards Ye Linghua's neck.

Interesting. This is the second woman who can withstand a single move from his sword formation. Ye Linghua's mood improved.

Li Xiaoxiao's speed was at its peak, barely managing to dodge the lightsaber's attack, but despite this, her hands were still covered in cuts and slashes.

The light green dress was torn in many places, and blood stained it red.

Within a radius of several meters around her, the trees were covered in wood chips and deep pits.

Li Xiaoxiao's eyes were almost bloodshot as she forced herself to calm down.

He was still wielding the scythe, but he hadn't used the revolver yet.

The two figures intertwined, colliding from time to time. Along the way, Li Xiaoxiao opened the Du, Jing, and Jing gates again. The last gate was the Death Gate; if she opened this gate again, she would die.

Having been stabbed by hundreds of spirit swords, Li Xiaoxiao was covered in wounds. She collapsed into the huge crater on her right, lying on the ground as if she had no strength left. Ye Linghua, on the other hand, was only stabbed twice on the shoulder and arm by the scythe, and the wounds healed in no time.

"Li Xiaoxiao, so you really have this ability. You actually know the acupoints to break through the limits of the body. But forcibly opening the seven gates might hurt your body."

"It seems this prophecy is actually quite plausible." Ye Linghua stared at Li Xiaoxiao, his smile becoming increasingly sinister. Li Xiaoxiao was now nothing more than prey to be captured, and he could kill her at any time.

Ye Linghua walked step by step toward Li Xiaoxiao, only to see Li Xiaoxiao suddenly raise her revolver and pull the trigger. A beam of light was fired, hitting Ye Linghua on either side of his heart.

Ye Linghua instinctively dodged, touching his almost empty heart, and spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Not bad, who exactly are you?" Ye Linghua manipulated the lightsabers and they surged towards Li Xiaoxiao. This time, the lightsabers contained 20% of his power, and she was bound to die.

Amidst the thick smoke, the woman suddenly roared, "Smoke doesn't hurt, standing on the right side of the wave guarantees victory, you've lost!"

Upon hearing the shout, Ye Linghua couldn't help but go over to investigate, only to have a cold wooden stick pierce through his heart.

"You wretched child, how can I allow you to be so presumptuous?"

The old man pulled out the bloodstained wooden stick to support himself. Ling Hua's pupils contracted, and his eyes widened. "You actually came in person? Weren't you going to stay out of it?"

Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the old man who had been begging earlier.

With the spirit sword stuck in her back, Li Xiaoxiao used her hands to support herself on the ground and slowly stood up.

“I already said, the right side will definitely win against the opponent. Go back and tell your master that you, this imposter, are not worthy of taking my head.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Ye Linghua's body disappeared from the spot. By the time Li Xiaoxiao reacted, he had the spirit sword in his hand and was slashing it fiercely down towards her neck.
