The true identity of the helper [Bonus Chapter]

The true identity of the helper

Zhou Mingyuan first met Jiang Jingshu one winter day. He was playing the flute in the Imperial Garden when he noticed someone sneaking around following him.

Zhou Mingyuan turned around with some alertness and saw that the girl had her eyes closed, seemingly already immersed in his flute playing.

He would probably never forget the expression on Jiang Jingshu's face when she opened her eyes. There was a kind of helplessness, as if she had been caught in the act, or perhaps... cuteness.

He recognized her; she was the Emperor's seventh princess. The girl was dressed in thin clothes and stared at Zhou Mingyuan with an innocent expression.

"Your subject is Zhou Mingyuan, son of Zhou Yan, the Crown Prince's tutor, and currently serves as His Highness's study companion. I apologize for disturbing the princess; I shall take my leave now."

He bowed slightly, but the girl in front of him was surprised by his manners.

Zhou Mingyuan couldn't help but smile wryly. As a princess, she deserved to be treated with such respect.

The girl in front of him was quite surprised that he could recognize her identity. "Your Highness has an extraordinary bearing and unparalleled elegance. Anyone can tell at a glance that you are Princess."

As Zhou Mingyuan spoke slowly, he took off his cloak and handed it to Jiang Jingshu, but Jiang Jingshu took a step back and refused his kindness.

Zhou Mingyuan draped his cloak over himself again. "Does Your Highness enjoy my flute playing?"

Jiang Jingshu stared longingly at Zhou Mingyuan and nodded.

Zhou Mingyuan then planned to enter the palace every few days to play the flute for Jiang Jingshu.

Jiang Jingshu would also go to the Jiaofangsi (a music and dance academy) to get a zither and play with him.

Jiang Jingshu's piano playing was beautiful; Zhou Mingyuan thought it might be the most beautiful music he had ever heard in his life.

When combined with his flute playing, it became an unparalleled masterpiece.

The two gradually became acquainted.

Zhou Mingyuan stared blankly at the painting Jiang Jingshu had given him in his study. He suddenly remembered a snowy night a few years ago when he had secretly glanced at Jiang Jingshu.

Jiang Jingshu was too thin, and it looked like she would fall over if the wind blew her away, so he would always prepare some desserts for her when he went to the palace.

Mung bean cake, red bean cake, barley cake.

Zhou Mingyuan was unaware that he had secretly fallen in love with Jiang Jingshu.

He would slap the palace servants who offended her, bring her the books she wanted to read, and do his best to send her charcoal in the cold winter.

But Zhou Mingyuan gets a little nervous every time Jiang Jingshu asks him why he's so good to her.

He didn't know why he was so good to her, so he could only lie and say, "Your Highness's calligraphy is exquisite, and I admire it greatly."

But that was just a lie he told. In fact, when he saw her innocent eyes and her slender back, he couldn't help but be kind to her.

When he saw her belittling herself, he affirmed her even more.

But Jiang Jingshu still felt inferior.

Zhou Mingyuan felt saddened as he looked at the faint sadness in Jiang Jingshu's eyes.

He wanted to do something for her, at the very least, to let her see her own worth.

There is a unique secret technique in the martial arts world that is said to allow one to travel through time and space. Zhou Mingyuan immediately sent people to find this secret technique.

He thought that she was inherently so radiant and valuable, but was only constrained by her status. If she went to another world, she would surely be recognized by others and find her own value.

The master went into seclusion in the mountains, and Zhou Mingyuan had to visit his thatched cottage three times before he could finally meet him. The master told him that traveling through time and space was extremely risky, and he couldn't guarantee what might happen on the journey.

Furthermore, this is a forbidden technique, and it will inevitably suffer a backlash.

Zhou Mingyuan hesitated, but not because he feared the backlash; rather, he was worried about the impact that time travel might have on Jiang Jingshu.

He subtly inquired of Jiang Jingshu whether she would smile again if her status were not a constraint.

Jiang Jingshu also seemed to yearn for life outside the palace walls.

Knowing her attitude, Zhou Mingyuan went to the mountains once again.

Finally, Jiang Jingshu traveled to modern society, and Zhou Mingyuan accompanied her in another identity.

He was the "system," explaining this new world to Jiang Jingshu time and time again, listening to her call him "helper" repeatedly, watching her struggle with her studies, and watching her slowly shine.

Reassure her when she doubts herself, and encourage her when she wavers.

On her first birthday in modern times, he saw her looking worried, so he traveled through time again to bring her the nanny's sachet.

Zhou Mingyuan witnessed all of her girlish thoughts.

He even went against his own will to tell her to bravely pursue love.

He was very satisfied with the process.

Even if he couldn't be with her, he was content just to know what she was thinking and what she was worried about.

But when he discovered that Jiang Jingshu's body was being rejected by society, he panicked. He quickly returned to the master's side, but the master shook his head and said to him, "In the end, she is not a person of that era."

Zhou Mingyuan was at his wits' end. He suddenly regretted his decision. Watching the girl suffer from rejection reactions time and time again, he felt doubly tormented.

Thankfully, thankfully.

Someone was always there to protect her.

Jiang Jingshu eventually had to return to ancient times, and when she came back, Zhou Mingyuan saw her again.

Although he had been harmed by the forbidden technique and his hair had turned white.

But she seems to have changed; she's become more confident and cheerful.

This is the significance of Zhou Mingyuan's trip.

He knew she wanted to go back, so he went to see the master again. The master asked him, "Has the girl known about all that you've done?"

Zhou Mingyuan's eyes were firm. He didn't want to see the bright sun trapped in the deep palace anymore. Jiang Jingshu's eyes should always be shining. "She doesn't need to know."

He can bear the cost of traveling through time.

As long as she's happy.

Before parting, he boldly revealed his true feelings to Jiang Jingshu for the first time, saying, "I truly love you."

He handed Jiang Jingshu the jasmine wine that had been buried in his home for a long time. Only now, living in the modern world, did he realize that she had a preference for jasmine.

Fortunately, she seemed to like it.

Before leaving, Zhou Mingyuan gave Jiang Jingshu his jade pendant, which his grandmother had given him, and it was said to bring him good luck.

He knew what Jiang Jingshu was thinking, and he handed the jade pendant in his hand to Jiang Jingshu.

Fortunately, the jade pendant did work, and she returned safely to the modern world.

If you're happy, then anything is fine.
