Chapter 9 I have nothing to do with her

He rocked his body back and forth, wailing and slapping the ground, his fish tail swinging constantly.

The scene was really funny.

"Okay, okay, it's my fault. I shouldn't have been so harsh on you." Jiang Li lowered his voice and coaxed him patiently.

It did calm him down, though.

"The mermaid pearl is very important to you mermaids. Why did you give it to me?" Jiang Li asked a puzzled question.

Unexpectedly, after hearing this question, Jun Yuelan became out of tune again.

He turned over, his chest facing up, and his tail tapped the ground happily.

The playful smile that had just appeared on his handsome face again.

"When I was playing a chasing game with the little fishes, I saw a little bird being cruelly abandoned and thrown into the Sana River. It almost drowned. There was nothing I could do. Who told me that I am not only beautiful but also compassionate? I couldn't bear to see others die in front of me..." Jun Yuelan became more and more excited as she spoke, and even fell deeper and deeper into her own narcissism, unable to extricate herself.

Jiang Li looked at the mermaid with a speechless expression. She could see that this stinky mermaid was really naughty and narcissistic.

Unexpectedly, Jun Yuelan talked more and more, as if he was publishing a thousand-word essay.

This really wore out Jiang Li's patience, and he finally couldn't help but interrupt him.

"Thank you for saving my life. I have no way to repay you. When I return to land and become rich, I will thank you very much."

Not only did she have to go back to the bird tribe to settle accounts with Yanhe, she also had to see if Aunt Mei was seriously injured by the monster. She could only paint a big pie for him first, and then slowly fulfill it when she had the chance in the future.

Jiang Li stood up, and just as she was about to leave, Jun Yuelan reached out and grabbed her arm.

"You want to escape?"

Jun Yuelan narrowed his eyes slightly, raised his eyebrows slightly, with a hint of anger on his face. The terrifying aura emanating from his whole body made Jiang Li shiver.

She quickly explained, "I didn't mean to run away. How could you think of me like that? After all, you saved my life. I will repay you no matter what."

"Then why do you want to return to land?"

"I still have relatives on land. The bird tribe was attacked by monsters. I want to go back to see if she is injured. I also want to settle the score with the person who threw me into the Sana River..."

Before Jiang Li could finish her indignation, Jun Yuelan interrupted her as if she had grasped the key point of her words.

"You mean the monster is coming out?"

"Yeah." Seeing that he had changed from his previous inattentive look to a serious one, Jiang Li nodded firmly.

"How is it possible?" Jun Yuelan lowered his head slightly and murmured softly, "The monster escaped? Why can't I sense anything?"

Jiang Li didn't hear Jun Yuelan's mumbling clearly, so he asked him directly, "What are you mumbling about?"

Jun Yuelan came back to her senses and looked pitiful again, "No, I just thought that you took my mermaid pearl away. If your life is in danger, I will die with you."

"Huh?" Jiang Li widened his eyes, full of confusion.

"You probably don't know, right? The mermaid pearl is the lifeline of us mermaids. If the pearl is destroyed, the mermaids will die along with it. And if I'm not mistaken, the one who threw you into the Sana River should be the princess of your bird tribe, Yanhe, right?"

Jiang Li was stunned, and looked at Jun Yuelan with a vigilant look, "How do you know? Do you know Yan He? What is your relationship with her?"

These three questions also made Jun Yuelan realize that Jiang Li was doubting him.

He quickly waved his hands and explained, "I only met her once, and I have nothing to do with her. Besides, if I were really in the same group with her, I would not have given you my precious mermaid pearl and saved your life."

Jun Yuelan's explanation was indeed believable. If he was really in cahoots with Yan He, he would have taken the opportunity to stab him again after he fell into the river.

Then, Jun Yuelan continued, "Since it was Yanhe who harmed you, you can't go back to the bird tribe. She is the only princess of the bird tribe. Not to mention that she can cover the sky with one hand, but at least no one will accuse her of what she did. And you? You are just a commoner. Even if they find an excuse to execute you, no one dares to say anything."

Jun Yuelan's analysis for her was indeed very reasonable. She was still believing in the modern concept that everyone is equal, and had forgotten that in Mingyue, people were divided into different classes just like in ancient times.

"But I'm still worried about Aunt Mei. I'm afraid something might happen to her." Jiang Li frowned and expressed his concerns.

"Is the Aunt Mei you mentioned an elder in the clan?"

Jiang Li nodded.

"That will be even less likely to cause any trouble. As far as I know, even the king of the bird tribe respects the elders of the tribe."

Hearing Jun Yuelan's remarks, Jiang Li immediately became puzzled, "How do you know so much about the bird tribe?" Even more than her?

Jun Yuelan was stunned for a moment, then smiled awkwardly and explained palely, "We mermaids have lived in the deep sea for a long time, so it is inevitable that we will get bored sometimes. My only hobby is reading, and I read all these from books."

There are indeed books in Mingyue about the living habits and temperaments of the five major tribes.

But Jun Yuelan's words made Jiang Li even more confused, "Why are you reading these books? Do you want to know yourself and the enemy? To urge the mermaids to attack the land?"

Hearing this, Jun Yuelan was completely panicked, "How is it possible? I've already said it's just boring! Besides, there's nothing fun to do on land except for the dry desert and the endless forest. It's not as fun as the bottom of our Sana River."

Jiang Li laughed out loud when he saw how anxious he was.

Seeing that she was no longer worried, Jun Yuelan also started laughing.

"I can ask the shrimp soldiers and crab generals to crawl onto the land and go to the bird tribe to see if your Aunt Mei is injured." He also wanted to know why magical beasts appeared in the bird tribe.

Jiang Li wanted to thank him, but couldn't help wanting to make a joke, "Why do I feel like you're imprisoning me?"

"Where is the imprisonment? I told you that you are carrying my mermaid pearl. What if something unexpected happens? I haven't lived long enough!"

"I also cherish my life. How could I just die in someone else's hands so easily?"

"You value your life? Then why were you thrown into the Sana River?"

"This was purely an accident. I was ambushed by them. This kind of thing would never happen normally."

The two of them kept bickering back and forth, neither of them giving in to the other.

Just when Jiang Li was getting in the mood, his stomach started growling at an inopportune moment.

"Are you hungry?"

A huge feeling of hunger surged up from her stomach, leaving her with too little energy to argue with him.

She lowered her head and nodded slightly, her voice sounding a little weak. "I haven't eaten for a long time."

"You bird tribe should eat insects, right? How about I go to the river and catch some insects for you?"

"No!" Jiang Li quickly refused.

Jun Yuelan thought she refused because she was afraid that he would catch some unpalatable bugs.

He straightened his chest and patted it twice. "Trust me, I can definitely catch a big, fat bug for you."
