Yin Lan tried to calm herself down and took a breath. "I saw some people on the mountain. They were carrying knives. There were about a dozen of them, maybe more. They were all tall and strong. I felt that they were dangerous."
"I'm going to see the village head. I don't know what's going on, but I need to prepare as soon as possible."
Yin Lan admitted that she was a little easily frightened.
There was nothing they could do; they had suddenly found themselves in such a place. The house was a thatched hut with absolutely no defensive capabilities, and they were accompanied only by three children who were completely defenseless.
If anything happens, only she, as the mother, can rush to protect her, but she... doesn't have any fighting ability.
So, whether it's wild boars or anything else, even though the villagers often think she's making a mountain out of a molehill, she still believes that it's always right to prepare in advance.
She was afraid; she had already died once and didn't want to die a second time.
Therefore, whether the man in front of her laughs at her or disagrees and doesn't care, Yin Lan has to do it herself.
Sure enough, Chen Yourun stood up and blocked her way.
As Yin Lan frowned and looked up, he spoke, "I'm here, don't be afraid."
For some reason, Yin Lan's eyes felt a little hot. She had been here for so long, and she had always been a little scared. No one had ever told her not to be afraid.
“I went to find the village head. It’s true that a small number of people in the Zhou family next door have started a rebellion. They’re not many, and they’re not very close to us, so we think we’re safe for now. It seems that a small group of people might have sneaked in. The disaster outside is quite serious. We have water here, and we do have food. The people who came haven’t attracted much attention, so there won’t be many. Don’t worry about the food. Just wait at home. I’ll be back in half an hour at most.”
Chen Yourun raised his hand and patted Yin Lan's arm reassuringly.
Looking at his thick arms, the muscles bulged and stretched with his movements, thicker than three of Yin Lan's arms, seemingly containing endless explosive power. If Yin Lan had felt fear and resistance when she looked at these bulging muscles before,
Now, she feels a little safer.
This made her feel more at ease.
“Okay,” she said.
Chen Yourun wanted to reach out and touch her head, but after rubbing his fingers together, he ultimately refrained.
There are still many problems between them, and she still harbors resentment.
There is ample time.
Chen Yourun went out.
Yin Lan's tense and fearful mood also calmed down.
Zhao Dashan's earthen bricks outside had already been fired. He felt that it was getting dark around him. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. He looked up at the sky and saw that it had started to snow heavily.
It had snowed twice before, but today's snow was noticeably different. The snowflakes were much larger, and it was really cold when you exhaled.
Zhao Dashan quickly called over the children, and together they helped move all the mud bricks into the house.
Xiao Xi and Erwa carried it together, while Da Dong, Da Wa, and Tian Youwei could each lift a mud brick. Although they walked slowly, they had many hands, and in no time, all the mud bricks were moved inside.
Yin Lan didn't really want to do these physical tasks, and to be honest, she wasn't very strong. Now, she actually thought it was great that Tian Youwei and the kids, Da Dong and Xiao Xi, had come to live with them.
She started washing the soaking pig offal again. There was still some braised pig offal left over from lunch that hadn't been cut up. For dinner, she ate fish, sweet potato noodles, and the remaining pig offal. There was no such food in the entire Iron Sword Village.
At this moment, Chen Dafu and several idle men from the village walked to Yin Lan's small thatched hut.
They were very curious after hearing that the pig offal prepared by the Yin family tasted wonderful.
Upon arriving and finding no one outside, he simply pushed open the door.
Yin Lan was startled and looked up. Chen Dafu and the others' eyes fell on Yin Lan's porcelain-white face. They knew that Yin was beautiful and had a good figure. Behind her back, many people envied Chen Yourun for his good fortune with women.
But considering he hadn't slept much, those foul-mouthed people had said and thought about all sorts of inappropriate things.
But that was just a thought, or a distant glance at Yin Lan.
This was the first time I'd ever seen Yin Lan with such a bewildered yet wary expression in such a casual setting, at such close range.
My eyes were glued to the screen.
Until Zhao Dashan's voice rang out, "What are you doing?"
The men finally realized what was happening and noticed the fish in Yin Lan's hand; their eyes widened.
Yin Lan subtly concealed what she was holding, then stood up. "Is there something you need? Why didn't you knock?"
This is directly questioning the other person; opening someone's door directly is very impolite.
"Isn't everyone saying your pig offal is delicious? It's not expensive, why don't you let us try some? We're all from Chengen Village, and we've helped you a lot in the past, you wouldn't be so stingy as to not share this, would you?"
Yin Lan almost laughed. Were these people out of their minds?
"Oh, since this stuff isn't expensive, why don't you give me some?"
"You helped me before? I don't remember. When? Where? What exactly did you help me with?"
"Oh, by the way, I think you took a pair of shoes that my eldest child used to own. When are you going to return them?"
They thought Yin Lan was the same Yin Lan from before, but she asked three questions in a row, each one more forceful than the last, and each question was incredibly sharp. They were left speechless, unable to answer a single one of them.
"Hehehe, you Yin family, how can you be so unreasonable as to ask people for things directly? Besides, I helped someone, so why would I remember it so clearly?" Chen Dafu said awkwardly but stubbornly.
Yin Lan sneered inwardly, "Oh, so you know it's unreasonable to ask me for pig offal directly? Then why did you ask? Actually, I helped you a lot a few years ago, and I even lent you five taels of silver. When are you going to pay me back?"
Chen Dafu panicked, "When did you borrow money from me?" And such a large sum at that.
Yin Lan directly returned his words, speaking sarcastically, "I helped you, why would I remember the time and place so clearly?"
Chen Dafu felt embarrassed. He realized that this Yin was a bit difficult to deal with. She was completely unyielding and had such a sharp tongue that he couldn't win against her.
His face immediately turned grim.
"Hey, Chen Yourun, what brings you back? And those people..."
Before Yin Lan could finish speaking, Chen Dafu panicked upon hearing Chen Yourun's name. Without even looking closely, he apologized and slipped away like a greased rag doll.
Yin Lan: "......"
As Chen Dafu walked, he muttered to himself, "This Yin Shi, she really eats well. She had pork offal for lunch, and just now she was preparing fish. Where did she get the fish?"
The food was absolutely delicious.
"Was it Chen Yourun who did it? Besides him, who else could get fish in the dead of winter?"
Chen Dafu felt a stirring in his heart as he recalled Yin Lan's beautiful face.
