Chapter 106 Meeting Chen Yourun's Eyes

Chen Dafu's family dared not say a word.

"Didn't you try to curry favor with him? Why didn't he choose you?"

Chen Dafu's face flushed red, and seeing that no one agreed with him, he could only walk away dejectedly.

The remaining time was spent by Chen Yourun explaining several action plans to the selected people; these things did not require the participation of other villagers.

It was also mentioned that the guards undergo certain training every morning, and others can participate if they are interested.

Most of the villagers dispersed and went home, whispering among themselves about how terrible the bandits were.

I heard that some villages in other counties have been looted, and many people have been killed or injured.

However, those things happened far away from Iron Sword Village, but that did not stop the villagers of Iron Sword Village from feeling fear.

Yin Lan took the child and went back first. Knowing that there would be guards at the entrance of the village starting tonight, Yin Lan felt a little more at ease. However, with only the child and herself in the house, the door could only keep out honest people, not villains, let alone bandits.

She glanced at the doorway; it was already dark, and it was very cold outside. There wasn't a soul in sight.

Yin Lan's lips twitched down.

Yin Lan shooed the child to bed. It was too cold tonight; the snow had been falling continuously, and it would be even colder when the snow melted tomorrow.

Yin Lan took out the cleaned pig's trotters and boiled water.

With the new stove, doing these things has become so much easier, and it's saved her from back pain.

"Mom, what are you doing?" The eldest and second children had been looking forward to this for a long time. What was this thing? It couldn't be eaten, and it wasn't fun.

Yin Lan poured hot water in, then tied the opening tightly with a rope to make sure there was no leakage. After that, she wrapped it with a cloth and tied it up to prevent burns.

Then she took the things inside and handed them to the two children under their curious gazes.

Erwa was very curious, so he took it directly, and it was warm? His eyes lit up.

The second child handed the things to the eldest child, saying, "It's so warm!"

"You can use it to warm your hands, or put it in a blanket."

The eldest child did as instructed and put the blankets in, and the once cold bed immediately warmed up.

"Wow, this is amazing! Mom, you're so clever! I love this thing so much!" Erwa, such a sweet-talker.

However, Yin Lan liked it.

The third child, who wasn't very good at speaking yet, was also babbling away, as if to say that he liked it too.

Three guys with honey on their lips.

As the family was enjoying their evening, they suddenly heard heavy footsteps approaching from afar.

Those were the footsteps of a man.

Yin Lan was startled.

He had just turned his head away.

The door was pushed open.

What came into view was a quilt, and only when she saw the head peeking out from behind the quilt did Yin Lan's heart, which had been in her throat, finally relax.

What brings you here?

Chen Yourun came in carrying a quilt. "If the bandits come, aren't you afraid?"

Yin Lan pursed her lips. "Aren't you leaving? Don't be afraid."

Looking at her stubborn expression, Chen Yourun suppressed a laugh. "Aren't you afraid? The child is afraid. Do you want something to happen to the child?"

Yin Lan naturally didn't want to.

Logically, Chen Yourun should have asked the child if he was scared, and the father and son could have cooperated so that he could have a more legitimate reason to stay.

However, based on his experience of being tricked by his child, Chen Yourun knew that as long as the mother was watching the child, the child would pat his chest and say that he was not afraid.

So, he's gotten smarter and definitely won't ask anymore.

However, the eldest child had sharp ears and managed to hear it. "Dad, I'm not afraid."

Chen Yourun: "..."

"No, you're scared."

The eldest child then went off to argue with his father.

Yin Lan didn't say anything more. She was really scared. Having another man in the house, especially a strong man like Chen Yourun, made her feel much braver.

If she were alone with a man like him, Yin Lan would definitely feel very unsafe, but it's a different story when there are children at home.

The eldest son knew how the beds were arranged at home. The third son slept at the innermost part, his mother slept at the outermost part, he slept at the foot of his mother's bed, and the second son slept in the middle. He lay down in his place and urged the second son and Yin Lan to get up.

“This is Erwa’s, and this is Mother’s.”

There was no space left except for the bed.

Chen Yourun: "......"

It seems that his goal of returning to live here will be somewhat difficult. For the first time, he felt that having more children at home was a bit of a headache.

"Dad, you sleep on the floor," the eldest son continued, assigning tasks.

"Will it work on the ground?" Yin Lan asked Da Wa.

Chen Yourun finally realized that his wife was the one who cared about him and worried that he would be cold sleeping on the floor.

The next second he heard it,

“If a thief comes, he will definitely come in through the door. You will be safer sleeping in the outer room, right, Da Wa and Er Wa?” Yin Lan explained and asked.

The eldest and second children nodded in agreement.

Erwa was even more ruthless, saying, "Sleeping outside the house is fine too."

Chen Yourun: "......"

He was really overthinking it; no wonder she's his wife.

He was truly grateful to his child.

But sleeping outside was definitely out of the question, so Chen Yourun ended up sleeping in the outer room.

Although he has a child, Chen Yourun is a grown man, and even if he sleeps on the floor, Yin Lan will still feel uncomfortable.

Chen Yourun had originally planned to do the same; there were only two rooms, and he slept in the outer room.

Yin Lan asked Da Wa to take the pig roe to his father.

Chen Yourun didn't need these things. He had slept in the snow before in winter. However, this warm feeling was indeed nice. He looked at the things and actually used them as hand warmers. His wife was really clever.

Chen Yourun lay on a bed of dry grass, a slight smile playing on his lips.

Then, he thought back on the past two days since he came back. Things were clearly completely different from what he had heard. His wife was a very hardworking, smart and kind person. She had also raised the child very well. Although the child had lost some weight, he was hardworking, obedient and lively, even better than when he came back last time. Yin Lan was completely different from what he had initially heard.

He began to regret why he hadn't understood the situation before saying such harsh words to her when he first returned.

He tossed and turned, knowing full well that Yin Lan had been somewhat resistant to him these past two days. He wanted to go in and talk to her again, but there was a child inside.

And so, he never slept very soundly.

Upon hearing a slight noise, Chen Yourun immediately opened his eyes alertly and saw Yin Lan carefully lifting one of her feet. When she noticed his sharp eyes, Yin Lan was startled, then put her foot down and pointed outside, saying, "Go to the outhouse."

Not long after lying down, Yin Lan regretted it. He was sleeping in the outer room, and the outhouse was a small shed set up outside. Going out of the house was very inconvenient and embarrassing.

So Yin Lan waited and waited, and only when she felt there was no sound outside did she cautiously go out. Little did she know that as soon as she lifted one foot, she would meet Chen Yourun's eyes.
