Chapter 33 Wild Boars Fight

Jiang Qinyu turned around and gave a slight smile. "Brother Meng, why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

Meng Tianze hastily wiped his face, grabbed his bow and arrows, and jumped down from the cave entrance.

“I’m not going to sleep anymore. It’s not safe for you to be alone in the mountains. I’ll go with you.” Meng Tianze landed and looked at Jiang Qinyu.

Although Jiang Qinyu wanted to find a water source on her own, she thought that it was indeed not safe in the mountains, so she nodded and said, "Then I'll have to trouble Brother Meng."

"Hey, it's alright. Your Zheng and I looked after each other back in the mountains. Now that he's not here, I have to protect you more," Meng Tianze said, waving his hand.

Jiang Qinyu was slightly taken aback, but then understood.

At first, she addressed Meng Tianze by his age, calling him "Uncle Meng." Later, Meng Tianze started calling her "sister-in-law," so she followed suit and called him "elder brother." She never expected that he and Lu Yanzheng had this kind of relationship.

Since the topic has come up, Jiang Qinyu led Meng Tianze towards the direction she remembered where the water source was, and asked, "Brother Meng, what kind of person is Lu...Zheng?"

Meng Tianze hadn't seen Lu Yanzheng for six years, but the scene of hunting in the mountains with Lu Yanzheng was still imprinted in his mind. Hearing Jiang Qinyu's question, he recalled for a moment and then said:

Ah Zheng is a very skilled and considerate person. I remember when he was thirteen, the first time I took him into the mountains, he hunted four pheasants and three rabbits all by himself.

Another time, we encountered a tiger. I just wanted to run away with him, but he insisted on hunting it down. Speaking of which, you two are quite alike..."

With a smile on his face, Meng Tianze talked about hunting with Lu Yanzheng in the past as he walked.

Jiang Qinyu listened quietly and suddenly understood why the two elders of the Lu family were so attached to Lu Yanzheng.

A humble, polite, capable, and good at making money man, it can be said that he became the pillar of the family from the day Lu Yanzheng started hunting.

It's a pity that this person is now nowhere to be found. If he were still around in the Lu family, Lu Yancai and his wife wouldn't be able to cause any trouble.

"By the way, sister-in-law, which way are we going?" Meng Tianze asked as he walked, then suddenly realized something was wrong.

At first, he thought Jiang Qinyu was going to relieve herself, but after walking for so long, she still hadn't said a word.

Jiang Qinyu pointed ahead, "The tiger came from that direction that night, which means there is a water source over there. Let's go take a look, and maybe we won't have to spend so much manpower to bring water up from underground."

Most importantly, her supermarket system hasn't been unlocked to the agricultural machinery counter on the second floor yet; she can't get the water pumps and such out, so forget about pumping water.

“You’re right. There must be more than one place with water in these mountains. Okay, let’s go look for it.” Meng Tianze nodded and took the initiative to lead the way.

The roads in the deep mountains are extremely difficult to travel, with many thorny bushes blocking the way, requiring a machete to cut a path through them.

Jiang Qinyu didn't feel embarrassed at all. The reason she was still in the mountains was mostly because of the people of Dingshui Village.

Perhaps she herself didn't realize that after discovering how united the people of Dingshui Village could be against outsiders, coupled with the unconditional tolerance and trust of the Lu family elders, Jiang Qinyu subconsciously wanted to do something for these people.

Finding food and water, and possibly even helping them figure out how to cultivate the land later, were all voluntary actions she subconsciously took.

It could also be said to be the obsession left by the original owner in Jiang Qinyu's body. After all, the original owner died too early in her previous life, and there were many things she wanted to do but didn't get to do, waiting for her to complete them.

Jiang Qinyu's thoughts returned, and she looked around before suddenly saying to Meng Tianze, "Brother Meng, don't move yet."

Meng Tianze, puzzled, stopped and looked at her.

Jiang Qinyu closed her eyes and sensed the surroundings for a moment, then opened them and looked around, saying, "It should be around here."

The humidity here is exceptionally high, and the air is more humid than in other places.

"Shall we go take a look now?" Meng Tianze also faintly heard the sound of water, but he couldn't figure out where it was coming from.

Jiang Qinyu shook her head, "No, in this weather, there are bound to be wild animals near water sources. There are only two of us now, it's not safe."

If another group of things comes, those two are just there to deliver the food.

Even with Village Chief Li and his men, there's no guarantee of victory. We should go back and prepare before coming back.

Meng Tianze, recalling what had happened before, nodded and said, "You're right. Let's go back first and talk to the village chief and the others when they wake up."

The two of them returned the way they came.

Unbeknownst to them, shortly after they left the area, many small animals began to scatter in all directions among the trees and bushes, as if some danger was about to befall them.

...

After a good night's sleep, Village Chief Li and the others woke up refreshed.

Just then, Jiang Qinyu and Meng Tianze returned as well.

Village Chief Li draped a towel around his neck and jumped down from the cave entrance. "You two got up so early?"

"Village chief, we just went to look for a new water source," Meng Tianze said immediately.

He and Jiang Qinyu are of different genders and need to avoid suspicion; he can't let people gossip.

Jiang Qinyu recounted what she had just witnessed, and then said, "No matter what the situation is there, let's prepare ourselves before we go, just in case anything unexpected happens."

"Alright, I'll have everyone tie their trouser legs tight, take the big net we had before, and bring all the equipment." Village Chief Li pondered for a moment, then looked at the people who had just come out of the cave, "Er Leng, Da Chui, you two hold the net tight on both sides, be alert, and if you see anything wrong, move in immediately, understand?"

"Don't worry, village chief," Li Dachui rubbed his eyes, "I'm very familiar with this job!"

He was the one who set up the trap for Chen Shao and his team to catch wild goats. Moreover, his injuries have almost healed in the past two days, and he can run now without fear of anything!

Liu Erleng also said, "No problem, Da Chui and I will keep an eye on things."

"Alright, alright, hurry up and wake everyone up. Let them eat some dry rations to tide them over. After we finish eating, we'll take our supplies and go check out the place Old Meng and the others mentioned." As he spoke, Village Chief Li took out his own dry rations.

After they finished eating, the group picked up their belongings and continued on their way.

Fortunately, with the path that Meng Tianze had cleared before, their journey wasn't too difficult.

However, this time, they heard a loud commotion before they even arrived at their destination.

"What's that sound up ahead?" Village Chief Li paused, asking nervously.

Jiang Qinyu and Meng Tianze exchanged a glance. "We just arrived and haven't had it yet."

"It sounds like a wild boar..." Meng Tianze tried to distinguish it carefully, but before he could finish speaking, he heard a wild boar roar.

"Ouch! Humph..."

Jiang Qinyu's heart skipped a beat; that voice didn't sound good at all!

"I'll go check it out, you guys get ready!" Meng Tianze took the lead and had already made his way forward.

Jiang Qinyu thought for a moment, then gripped the dagger and followed behind him.

Before long, the two witnessed a scene that was both shocking and unforgettable.

Jiang Qinyu's eyelids twitched violently. This was actually two wild boars fighting!

It's one thing for them to fight, but what's with the two hyenas and three-headed wolves surrounding them?
