Jiang Qinyu sighed helplessly, "Uncle Village Chief, this is really..."
She couldn't just hand him the water pipe and have him pump water, could she? She'd need a water pump first!
However, it's not entirely hopeless. She does know how to divert water from a lower level to a higher level. Why don't we give it a try?
"How is it?" Village Chief Li looked at her nervously. "You have a way, right?"
Jiang Qinyu hesitated and said, "There is a way, but I don't know if we can do it."
"It's alright, as long as there's a way, that's good. Just tell me how to do it, and we'll figure out a solution together if there are any problems," said Village Chief Li, patting his chest.
Since he had already said that, Jiang Qinyu could only voice her own thoughts: "How many carpenters are there in our village? Can they make what I'm talking about?"
Village Chief Li thought for a moment and said, "We'll have to go back to the village and ask Grandpa Jiang. He's the best carpenter in our village. You just said you're using some kind of water flow to make the wooden blades rotate, and then pressurize them to bring water up the mountain, right?"
He really didn't understand what he was hearing; his mind was completely blank.
Jiang Qinyu nodded, "Then I'll talk to Grandpa Jiang about this when we get back."
"Alright, let's go down and take a look first, have some water before we come back up," said Village Chief Li, and began to descend into the valley.
The slope here is quite steep. As Jiang Qinyu went down, she observed the terrain and was already thinking about how to use a water pump to bring the water up.
Actually, if you want to use the water here without so much trouble, you can just pump the water to the top of the mountain and then connect a pipe from the top down to the valley they came from.
The key question is whether we can make a water pump.
Jiang Qinyu knew the principle, but she had never done it herself, so she had to see if the elderly people in the village could implement it.
Before long, Jiang Qinyu and her group descended to this secluded paradise.
The small animals avoided them from a distance, probably because of the psychological trauma they had experienced with the tiger.
"I must say, the scenery here is quite beautiful, isn't it, Big Hammer?" Liu Erleng said cheerfully.
Li Dachui grinned foolishly, "Yes, it looks good!"
It doesn't matter how pretty it is, what matters is that there's water here! Lots and lots of water!
It wasn't apparent from the mountain, but after coming down, Jiang Qinyu realized that the lake was very large, and it was a circular shape with a gap, with an estimated total size of several hundred or even a thousand acres.
No wonder they could hear the sound of water outside but couldn't pinpoint its exact location; it was all over the place inside!
The sound of the water was made by the small animals in the valley.
"Is the water in this lake drinkable?" someone suddenly asked.
Jiang Qinyu nodded, "Yes, but it has to be boiled before drinking."
She walked toward the small pool she had seen at the top of the mountain, and only when she got closer did she realize that the pool was not small at all, and water was constantly seeping out of the mountain wall.
When the pool is full, the water flows from the lower-lying areas into the lake.
Jiang Qinyu squatted down, gently scooped up a handful of water, took a small sip, and found it to be sweet and refreshing, with a lingering sweetness after swallowing – it was genuine spring water.
“Uncle Village Chief, let’s protect this place. The water here is very good. If we need to fetch water in the future, we can use the water from the pool for drinking and the water from the lake for washing and cleaning,” Jiang Qinyu suggested.
Village Chief Li nodded without hesitation, "Okay, I'll do as you say!"
"How about this," Meng Tianze suddenly said, "we can build a few thatched huts here, and anyone in the village who can't stand the heat can come and stay here for a few days."
Since they've decided to use this water, they need to make sure the water source isn't polluted. If the drought continues, their constant back-and-forth carrying of water won't solve the problem at its root.
"That's possible, but we can't have too few people, in case we encounter any wild beasts," Village Chief Li said thoughtfully.
Jiang Qinyu nodded, "Yes, safety is definitely the top priority. If we want to bring water up later, we also need to prevent animals in the valley from damaging the water pumps and pipes we make."
We definitely need to leave some people here, but we'll have to discuss that with Village Chief Li and the others when we get back.
“There’s something else,” Old Lu said, leaning closer. “I’m thinking we should go and see where the underground river we saw earlier leads. Even if we don’t need the water there, we should at least have a general idea.”
Meng Tianze slapped his thigh, "Uncle Lu, you're thinking the same thing as me!"
“I remember,” Village Chief Li waved his hand, “but we have to go back and discuss it with everyone, and make full preparations before we go. What if we walk down there for ten days or half a month and still can’t find the top? What will you do then?”
Jiang Qinyu agreed, "Uncle Village Chief is right, but I suggest we first explore in the direction of our Dingshui Village to see if there are any tributaries flowing towards the village. If there are, we can find a way to divert the water, and then the village's crops will be saved."
This is actually a question she has been thinking about for the past two days. If the water in the underground river cannot be utilized, this year of disaster will be very difficult to get through.
They can't rely on finding food in the mountains to survive years of famine forever. What can they find in the mountains when it snows heavily in winter? So they can only feel more secure if their own land produces something of value.
Jiang Qinyu looked around and sighed inwardly. This was only a temporary solution to their immediate problem; they still had a long road ahead.
After wandering around the valley, the men all wanted to go into the water to wash up, but they were too embarrassed to do so when they saw Jiang Qinyu there.
"Uncle Village Chief, Dad, you all go wash up. I'll go take a look over there first," Jiang Qinyu said, pointing to the small bamboo grove in the valley.
Old Lu was a little worried, "Maybe you shouldn't go..."
"It's alright, Dad. It's nearby. I'll call if anything happens." Jiang Qinyu smiled and walked over there.
Village Chief Li put his arm around Old Man Lu's shoulder and said, "Old Lu, your wife is really something else, it's just a pity... sigh!"
Thinking of Lu Yanzheng, whose fate was unknown, Old Man Lu sighed, "I hope my A-Zheng is still fortunate enough to have that blessing!"
No matter what others say, as long as it's not confirmed, he believes Lu Yanzheng is still alive.
Village Chief Li shook his head. "Let's go wash up. I don't want to smell this odor anymore."
The men were all taking a bath on this side of the lake, and Jiang Qinyu on the other side also wanted to take a bath, but it was really inconvenient here, so she gave up the idea for the time being.
Upon arriving behind the bamboo forest, Jiang Qinyu brought up the system and carefully examined the situation in the aquatic product area.
It was much the same as she remembered. Apart from the frozen products displayed outside, there were even live fish and shrimp in the large water tanks in the seafood section, and even the large crabs were alive.
Jiang Qinyu was astonished. What was the principle behind this? Could she even get in?
Just as she was thinking this, the system notification sounded in Jiang Qinyu's mind again.
[Ding! Congratulations, host, you have activated the personal space function! Friendly reminder: The space is modeled after a shopping mall; only the host can freely enter and exit, and living beings cannot be brought in.]
Jiang Qinyu was stunned. What was going on? Had it changed from only being able to let her consciousness in to allowing other people to enter?
