Chapter 191 Doctor Zhao and His Granddaughter

Xu Han said, "Why don't you have some water and rest for a bit?"

The Taoist priest took it and drank it in large gulps.

Then Xu Han said, "Let's go over there and pick up the old doctor and his granddaughter first! You all go inside and rest."

After saying that, she pulled Lu Chuan towards the old doctor.

After the two approached, Lu Chuan said, "Hello, sir. It was Daoist Xuan Yi who sent us to pick you up. Please give me your luggage and I'll help you with it!"

The old doctor said, "Thank you both! You two must have come to pick us up yourselves. That old geezer wouldn't be so kind as to let you come and get me!"

Xu Han and Lu Chuan were at a loss for words when they heard what the old man said. It was the old doctor's granddaughter who spoke up.

"Please don't mind it. My grandfather and the old Taoist priest often bicker. They've always gotten along this way their whole lives."

Xu Han smiled and said, "It's alright, it's alright, I understand."

Then we walked home in an awkward silence, since we weren't familiar with each other yet and didn't know what to talk about.

When the four arrived home, the Taoist priest and the Taoist nun were no longer visible outside the courtyard; they must have gone inside to rest.

Lu Chuan led the two into the main room to sit and rest for a while, while Xu Han went to the kitchen and used the bamboo tray that Lu Chuan had made to bring each of them a glass of fruit jam water with ice, and then prepared four bowls of ice jelly and brought them over.

"Let me introduce you. This is Lu Chuan, and this is Xu Han. From now on, Lao Zhao and I will be living at their house."

The Taoist priest's apprentice and the old doctor's granddaughter said at the same time, "Please take good care of our master (grandfather) if Mr. Lu and Mrs. Lu will."

"I don't deserve it, I'm so grateful for the care and guidance from the Taoist priest and the old gentleman!" Xu Han said politely.

Then the Taoist priest continued, "This old man is called Zhao Huan. He only knows a little bit of medical skills. If you feel unwell in the future, go to him. He won't kill you."

Zhao's granddaughter, standing nearby, silently thought to herself, "Only Daoist Xuan Yi would dare to speak to my grandfather like that. You should know that my grandfather is a famous divine doctor in Yuanqing Kingdom, and ordinary people can't get his help."

But he was tricked by Daoist Xuan Yi into going to this remote, uninhabited mountain. No one knows how he managed to convince his grandfather...

Upon hearing the Taoist priest's introduction, Lu Chuan paused for a moment and asked, "Is he the divine physician Zhao Huan?"

"Hehehe, it's me. Don't listen to that old man's nonsense. My medical skills are famous throughout our Yuanqing Kingdom. He's just jealous of me."

Before Dr. Zhao could finish speaking, Lu Chuan knelt down and said, "Divine Doctor, please accept my bow."

After saying that, he kowtowed deeply, leaving everyone bewildered, including Xu Han.

"What are you doing? Get up quickly, let's talk this out." Doctor Zhao quickly helped Lu Chuan up.

"My father, Lu Feng, once said that the legendary physician Zhao Huan had saved him twice."

"If it weren't for you, my father would probably be dead long ago. When he was alive, he often told me that if I ever encountered such a person again, I must repay the life-saving grace of the divine physician."

"So you're Lu Feng's son! What a coincidence! Your father was a great hero, what a pity!"

Before Doctor Zhao could finish speaking, the Taoist priest interrupted, "Alright, alright, you two stop reminiscing. There's plenty of time in the future! You can chat slowly. There are two other people waiting!"

Then someone grabbed the Taoist priest and said, "This is my good-for-nothing eldest disciple, whose Taoist name is Yunhua."

After the three greeted each other, the Taoist priest pointed to a woman next to him and said, "This is Zhao Yunyun, the granddaughter of Old Man Zhao. Like Old Man Zhao, she is studying medicine."

"My name is Zhao Yunyun, you can just call me Yunyun!" Zhao Yunyun said sweetly.

"Hello, Yunyun! We should be about the same age. What's your zodiac sign?" Xu Han asked.

"I was born in the Year of the Horse, what's yours?"

Upon hearing that Zhao Yunyun shared the same zodiac sign as her, Xu Han took Zhao Yunyun's arm and happily said, "What a coincidence! I was also born in the Year of the Horse. We're both seventeen this year. What month is your birthday? Mine is May."

“I’m younger than you, I was born in September. So I’ll call you Sister Xu Han from now on!” Zhao Yunyun said.

"Sure! Then I'll call you Yunyun! You don't know how long I've been living in these deep mountains without any girlfriends to play with. You're the first girl I've met in all this time!"

Xu Han had been here for so long and hadn't met a single girl. But now that she saw Zhao Yunyun and learned that they were the same age, she instantly felt incredibly warm and fuzzy. Finally, someone could keep her company. She wondered how long Zhao Yunyun would stay here.

The two whispered intimately to each other, and in no time they became best friends who could talk about anything.

The main reason is that Zhao Yunyun has a really good personality. She's very lively and cute, and her voice is sweet, making it hard not to like her.

Xu Han and Zhao Yunyun really hit it off. They felt like old friends who had known each other for many years and got along very well.

The other four were chatting about other things. Xu Han didn't care; let them talk whatever they wanted!

After chatting for a while, Xu Han said, "Yunyun and I will sleep together tonight. You guys can sleep on the kang over there! There should be enough room. If there isn't enough room, Lu Chuan, you can sleep on the floor."

“Okay,” Lu Chuan said.

“Okay, I have no objection. We can squeeze in and sleep,” said Doctor Zhao.

"If he can't sleep, let Yunhua sleep on the floor. He's young and healthy," the Taoist priest said bluntly.

"Master, you're too cruel! I've traveled day and night for so long, and you actually have the heart to make me sleep on the floor? Waaah, I can't live anymore!"

"You're thick-skinned, no problem. I believe in you, my good disciple."

"Alright, alright, stop arguing. The kang (heated brick bed) is so big! How can there not be enough room to sleep?" said Doctor Zhao.

To prevent a major battle, Xu Han spoke up at the opportune moment, saying, "I've already prepared the room. You can put your things away and rest for a bit. We'll go make dinner."

After saying that, she prepared to pull Lu Chuan to the kitchen. Zhao Yunyun also wanted to go along to help, but Xu Han refused.

"You must be exhausted after traveling for so long. Take a good rest first! Lu Chuan is here to help me!"

"Please make yourselves at home and don't be shy!" Lu Chuan said, then followed Xu Han into the kitchen.

The two of them prepared a particularly lavish dinner tonight, but considering some reasons, they dared not use many out-of-season vegetables, and could only prepare a moderate amount of rice and dishes.
