Upon hearing this, Xu Han immediately stood up and looked into the bucket. She saw two large fish weighing about three pounds each, as well as some smaller fish.
He then said, "This fish is quite big, not bad, not bad. Looks like we'll have grilled fish tonight."
"That's right, I'll go and process it right away, it'll be ready to bake in a bit." The Taoist priest said, then picked up the bucket and walked towards the backyard.
Xu Han prepared a particularly abundant variety of grilled skewers today; she prepared everything that was available.
"Yunyun, you skewer the meat first, I'll go knead the dough so we can make some steamed buns later. Otherwise, with so many of us, we won't be full just eating barbecue," Xu Han said, getting up and heading to the kitchen. Zhao Yunyun readily agreed.
Once in the kitchen, I first poured some flour into a large bowl and then started kneading the dough.
After kneading, let it rest for a while. You can knead it a few more times during the resting process to make the steamed buns more chewy.
Cut the risen dough into small pieces, then roll them out thinly with a rolling pin. After rolling out a few, call someone in to help start the fire.
"Is there anyone free who can come in and help me start the fire?" Xu Han asked.
"I'll do it, I'll do it." Grandpa Zhao quickly walked in.
"Okay, Grandpa Zhao, just make sure the fire doesn't go out, but don't make it too big!" Xu Han said and continued rolling out the Luomo buns.
Once the pot boils, place a Luomo (a type of flatbread) inside. After about one or two minutes, open the pot and place a freshly rolled Luomo on top.
Repeat this process until all the steamed buns are placed in the steamer, then let them sit for two minutes. The steamed buns are now ready.
Take the Luomo (a type of steamed bun) out of the pot, and while it's still hot, peel it off one by one so that it can be used directly to wrap barbecue later.
If it's too hot to handle, you can place a basin of water next to you and dip your hands in cool water to cool them down when they get too hot.
After Xu Han finished making all the Luomo (a type of steamed bun), she brought them out.
I just happened to see the Taoist priest sitting next to the grill, grilling skewers!
"Girl, look how good my grilling skills are!" the Taoist priest said proudly.
"Not bad, not bad, if you don't flip it soon it'll be burnt, and you'll have to eat the burnt stuff yourself!" Xu Han said with no mercy.
Upon hearing this, the Taoist priest immediately began flipping the skewers, muttering under his breath, "Thank goodness, they almost burned."
Xu Han laughed upon hearing this. But she didn't continue talking about the pipe manager; instead, she turned and went to the warehouse.
Of course, you need some wine to go with barbecue! So Xu Han went to the storeroom to get some fruit wine.
After everything was ready, it was already completely dark. Dinner was a little late, and everyone wolfed it down.
The first batch of skewers was snatched up as soon as they came out of the grill. Everyone stuffed their favorite meat skewers into the steamed buns, and with a little bit of freshly sprouted scallion, it was simply too delicious.
"Master, let me grill it! I don't want to eat burnt meat." Yunhua chose to eat over getting beaten up.
Unsurprisingly, he was met with another whirlwind kick from the Taoist priest.
Perhaps the Taoist priest himself was a little dissatisfied with his own skills, and in the end he obediently gave up his seat.
Seeing this, Lu Chuan followed Yun Hua over. Xu Han was relieved to see Lu Chuan go over.
Yunhua disliked the Taoist priest, but Xu Han didn't know how good Yunhua's cooking was. Fortunately, Lu Chuan was there to save the day, so things shouldn't be too bad.
Xu Han was just thinking when she heard Lu Chuan shout anxiously, "Fire! Fire! Get it off quickly! Put out the fire, it's all blackened! Oh dear, do you even know how to do this?!"
After saying that, he hurriedly took the skewers from Yunhua's hand and put out the fire.
Yunhua muttered to herself, "I don't know how it suddenly caught fire."
Lu Chuan said with exasperation, "Everyone else uses a brush to apply the oil, but you just poured oil into a bowl. Do you think that's why it caught fire?"
Everyone else who heard this couldn't help but burst into laughter.
The Taoist priest then spoke up at the opportune moment, mocking, "You say my grilling isn't good? You're even worse than me! You can eat your burnt food yourself!"
Everyone tacitly avoided eating the skewers from Yunhua Grill.
Yunhua was afraid of wasting the food, so she wanted to feed it to the dogs, but even the dogs only sniffed it and refused to eat it. This showed just how bad the skewers were.
Unfortunately, Yunhua could only pick out the slightly edible pieces to eat, and threw away the rest that were absolutely inedible.
Seeing Lu Chuan grilling skewers by himself, Xu Han said to him, "Let me grill with you, so we can grill faster together."
“Okay, let’s grill together. The grill we set up today is big enough that it won’t be crowded for two people, and it will be quick to grill.”
At this moment, the Taoist priest spoke up again, "Yunhua, why don't you hurry up and watch from the side? You have the nerve to eat it like that."
Upon hearing this, Yunhua glanced at her master, who was lying on a recliner fanning himself with a palm leaf fan, but ultimately did not refute him. Instead, she silently moved a chair to the side of the oven.
There was nothing I could do. I couldn't win a fight, and I couldn't win an argument. What could I do?
The most important reason is that if Master is happy, he might be able to stay here for a couple more days! So he chose to obey Master…
After the two finished grilling the skewers, everyone started eating.
"Delicious, really delicious. Look what you just baked! It's not even half as good as Xiao Han's." Grandpa Zhao said to the Taoist priest.
"It's not tasty, but you still fought over it to eat it. If you don't want it, spit it out." The Taoist priest rolled his eyes.
"Would you eat it if I spat it out? If you eat it, I'll spit it out," Grandpa Zhao said defiantly.
Seeing that things were not going well and fearing that the two would start fighting, Zhao Yunyun quickly handed a lamb skewer to the Taoist priest and said, "Taoist priest, please try this lamb skewer that Sister Xu Han grilled. It doesn't have any gamey smell at all. You should try it. It's especially delicious."
Seeing that there was delicious food, the Taoist priest stopped arguing with Grandpa Zhao and took the lamb skewers, eating them in big bites.
One by one, everyone ate dozens of skewers of barbecue, which they then rolled up with water chestnut buns and ate until they were full.
"Ah! This feeling is so wonderful. I never dared to imagine that I could enjoy such a delicious meal so easily one day," the Taoist priest said, rubbing his stomach.
“Yes! It’s really comfortable living here, much better than in the capital. At least there aren’t so many rules,” Grandpa Zhao chimed in.
"Can I stay here tomorrow? I want to stay too," Yunhua said fearlessly.
"Dream on! You'd better leave first thing tomorrow morning. Don't come looking for me here unless it's absolutely necessary to save your life," the Taoist priest roared.
