Chapter 263 Rainy Season

The rain lasted for a week before it finally stopped.

The rainfall is already this heavy at the very beginning of March; I really can't imagine what it will be like in the summer.

Because it had been raining heavily, the stream in front of my house was full of water after each rain, and the water flowed even faster than before the drought.

There was also standing water in other parts of the deep mountains. During the rainy season, the Taoist priest and Lu Chuan had to wear raincoats and go outside to clear the drainage ditches every day.

Because of the rain, many dead branches and leaves have gathered together, often clogging the ditches along the road.

If the blockage isn't cleared in time, rainwater won't drain away and will eventually overflow and flow onto the road.

The days passed by at a leisurely pace, and before we knew it, it was May.

Summer has arrived, and since then, there has been a noticeable increase in rainfall.

Previously, if it rained for four or five days, it would be sunny for ten or more days, but since May, it has been raining almost every day.

Sometimes, a light drizzle can last for half a month without stopping.

It drizzles every day, and this rain makes people feel very depressed. They can only stay at home and can't go out to play.

If you stay indoors for too long, you'll get sick from the boredom, but there's nothing you can do since the rain keeps falling, so you can only stay indoors and entertain yourself.

Most importantly, dirty clothes can't be dried after washing, and now everyone is running out of clothes to wear.

If I don't change my clothes, they'll get damp and be very uncomfortable to wear.

Helpless, Lu Chuan could only light a brazier in the unoccupied room to dry everyone's washed clothes.

This finally solved everyone's clothing problem.

The room was damp and moldy, with mold growing in some corners.

Xu Han was afraid that the things in the cellar and storeroom would get moldy, so she packed everything into the space before the rainy season arrived.

Fortunately, some of the food in the space had already been eaten, and since there was no need to store water anymore, the space inside was quite large, with some empty space left even after everything was stuffed in.

So Xu Han asked everyone if they wanted to store any personal items that needed to be protected from moisture. Grandpa Zhao and the Taoist priest stuffed everything they brought into the space.

Xu Han also stuffed all the things that she, Lu Chuan, and Mu'er didn't need into the space.

Because of the damp environment, Mu'er and Xu Han developed a lot of eczema, which was extremely itchy.

Many of them had their skin scratched, and Grandpa Zhao quickly prepared some ointment for them to apply.

Xu Han is now four months pregnant, and this pregnancy has left her completely exhausted.

After Grandpa Zhao confirmed Xu Han's pregnancy by taking her pulse, things were better for the first few days.

Then I started experiencing constant morning sickness, and now I'm four months pregnant and the morning sickness is still very severe.

It was so bad that she couldn't eat anything or sleep well, so Xu Han looked extremely haggard.

During her pregnancy, Xu Han not only did not gain weight, but actually lost three or four pounds.

Now Lu Chuan is trying different ways to prepare food for Xu Han every day, hoping that Xu Han will eat a little more.

During her pregnancy, Xu Han looked like a fragile glass doll, as if she would shatter at the slightest touch.

Grandpa Zhao also prescribed some anti-nausea medicine for Xu Han, but it didn't work very well; she would still vomit it up after a while.

The rain made Xu Han, who was already feeling down, even more irritable due to pregnancy-related symptoms.

I see things for no reason, and I get angry at the slightest thing.

Seeing her mother in so much pain during her pregnancy, Mu'er became even more obedient than before, massaging Xu Han's legs and pouring her water every day, keeping herself very busy.

Seeing Mu'er like this, Xu Han sometimes felt guilty towards Mu'er. She and Lu Chuan shouldn't have been so careless. When Mu'er was still so young and needed companionship, they had a second child.

Xu Han always made a special effort to suppress her irritable temper in front of Mu'er, but she was not so good when facing Lu Chuan.

Lu Chuan now acts like a wronged wife every day, and Xu Han scolds him if he's not careful.

What can I do? My wife has gone through so much to give birth to my child, and I can't take all that away from her. I guess I'll just have to accept the scolding.

Everyone else is now avoiding Xu Han as much as possible, afraid of doing something that might offend her.

Xu Han herself is aware of her current situation and knows very well that she shouldn't lose her temper like this, but many times she really can't help it!

It's raining outside now, so it's not an option to go out for a walk to clear my head and ease my mood.

Xu Han stays indoors every day and doesn't go out. Sometimes she even eats all three meals indoors.

Besides not being able to go out because of the rain, Xu Han also had severe morning sickness, couldn't eat anything, and was very weak with no energy.

She could only drink herbal medicine to regulate her pregnancy symptoms and eat to replenish her energy. Xu Han was afraid that she might miscarry because of pregnancy symptoms.

Days passed by like this, but what was gratifying was that the vegetables Xu Han had planted were harvested a few days ago.

Because of the continuous rain for half a month, the vegetables didn't grow well, so we simply harvested them all to prevent them from rotting if the rain continued for a long time.

Although you don't get many vegetables from one box, the total amount from many boxes is still quite considerable.

These vegetables should last for at least one or two months.

The rainfall is too heavy now. Even if a new batch of vegetables is planted, they won't grow well without sunshine.

So after the harvest, Lu Chuan didn't rush to plant other vegetables. He would wait until after the rainy season and then decide whether to plant vegetables again based on the weather conditions.

With nothing to do, everyone was idle every day. Xu Han looked particularly haggard and couldn't even play mahjong anymore.

Grandpa Zhao and the Taoist priest, having nothing better to do than frantically train Mu'er and Lu Chuan.

So, poor Lu Chuan had to endure Xu Han's bad temper and the Taoist priest's devilish training every day. He was so miserable that he felt like he had no will to live and his life was even more miserable than Xu Han's!

Suddenly, he became the most miserable person in the family. The only reason for Lu Chuan to keep going now is for the daughter in Xu Han's belly.

I wonder if this time I can fulfill Lu Chuan and Xu Han's wish.

Regardless, life goes on like this, with rain, light rain, heavy rain, and overcast skies every day.

July has arrived in the blink of an eye. July is the rainy season. And since the beginning of July, the rain has been incessant.
