Chapter 273 Daily Life During the Flood

Lu Chuan just wanted to stay with his wife and children and live a peaceful life. His wife liked living in the mountains, so he would accompany her to live that idyllic life.

If one day my wife suddenly wants to move to the city and live a more down-to-earth life, I'd be happy to go along with it.

I used to live alone and it didn't matter what I did, but since Xu Han came, I've finally felt like I have a home.

Lu Chuan cherishes his current life. He has no particular desires and is happy with this simple and ordinary life.

Having thought it through, Lu Chuan continued cleaning the yard. He needed to finish quickly so he could make breakfast for his wife, Xu Han, and she could eat as soon as she woke up.

When Xu Han led Mu'er out, she didn't notice that the Taoist priest wasn't home. It was only during breakfast that Lu Chuan brought it up.

Upon hearing this news, Xu Han was stunned for a moment, then said, "I understand. When will the Taoist priest be back?"

"The Taoist priest didn't say the exact time, but I estimate he won't be back for a while."

"Alright then. Let's just stay home for the time being. Anyway, it's not easy to travel in the mountains right now, and I'm quite far along in my pregnancy, so I can't really go far for a while," Xu Han comforted herself.

Xu Han is now eight months pregnant, and there are only two months left until she gives birth. Time flies.

Xu Han's pregnancy symptoms had just subsided a bit these past few days, but she found that she was swollen every morning when she woke up, especially her hands and feet, which were swollen and very uncomfortable. She couldn't do any work now.

Days passed slowly like this, with occasional light rain during this period, sometimes lasting for three or four days, and sometimes stopping after one or two days.

Fortunately, there haven't been any more heavy rainstorms. With the rainy season over, the chances of heavy rain in the future are probably going to be fewer.

Xu Han then asked Lu Chuan to help clean up the large wooden box they had made earlier, added manure back into it, turned over the soil again, and sowed some vegetable seeds inside.

We can harvest fresh vegetables in October.

With nothing else to do, Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao picked up their hoes again and turned over the vegetable garden in the backyard, clearing away the newly grown weeds.

After cleaning the backyard, we moved outside. The wasteland outside had been completely destroyed after the last heavy rain.

Moreover, a lot of mud has accumulated here, making the originally low hillsides higher.

Lu Chuan and Grandpa Zhao simply used tools to flatten the area, making each piece look very neat and tidy.

Next year, when each plot of land is planted with different crops, it will definitely look beautiful.

The days passed quickly and busily, and before they knew it, it was November 20th. Xu Han's due date was at the end of November.

Grandpa Zhao received a message from Yunhua a few days ago, saying that Yunhua and Zhao Yunyun would be home today.

Xu Han got up early in the morning to tidy up and make some food so that the two of them could have something to eat when they arrived.

As her pregnancy progressed, she felt tired doing anything and couldn't make anything particularly complicated, so Xu Han simply made chicken soup with matsutake mushrooms and rolled out some noodles to keep on hand.

The water in the pot was boiling, so when the two of them arrived, we could just cook noodles right away—simple and convenient.

Even after everything was prepared, Yunhua and Zhao Yunyun were still nowhere to be seen.

The group wasn't in a hurry; there was still plenty of time, so they sat in the main room and waited leisurely.

"Honey, let me massage your legs!" Lu Chuan said, placing Xu Han's legs on his own and beginning to massage them slowly.

"Your hands and feet are even more swollen today. Look, you can't even clench your fists together."

Xu Han stretched out her hand, which was swollen like a pig's trotter, and said with a look of disgust.

"It's alright, just move around more when you have time," Grandpa Zhao said.

"My dear wife, you've worked so hard. After the baby comes out, I'll give him a good beating to vent your anger," Lu Chuan said with a fawning expression.

"Would you still hit her if it were your daughter?" Xu Han asked seriously.

Seeing Lu Chuan pause for a moment, then said, "Even my daughter won't do. It's his fault for making my wife suffer so much."

Xu Han looked at Lu Chuan with disbelief, "Give me a break."

Just then, the sound of dogs barking came from outside, which meant that Yunhua and the others must have arrived.

"It should be them. Let's go out and take a look," Xu Han said.

Grandpa Zhao went out first, and Lu Chuan helped Xu Han walk slowly behind.

From afar, Zhao Yunyun's cheerful laughter could be heard. She ran towards them with light, joyful steps.

"Grandpa, I'm back," Zhao Yunyun said, hugging her grandfather tightly.

"Good child, you must be tired from your journey. How have you been lately? Let me see you," Grandpa Zhao said.

“It’s not hard on you, Grandpa. I’m fine. How have you been lately? Are you feeling alright?” Zhao Yunyun asked.

"Okay, okay, I'm fine."

Lu Chuan and the others watched this scene silently from the sidelines, without going forward to disturb them.

After the grandfather and grandson finished exchanging pleasantries, Yunhua also came over, leading his horse and dragging his things. Upon seeing this, Lu Chuan quickly went forward to receive him.

"Sister Xiaohan, I miss you so much," Zhao Yunyun said, hugging Xu Han again.

"I missed you so much too. Yunyun has lost weight since she came back. She must have suffered a lot while she was out there," Xu Han said, looking her up and down.

"I have lost some weight, but I'm still eating a lot. I was too busy with the epidemic in the past two months."

"Come on, come on, it's too hot outside, let's go inside and talk," Grandpa Zhao quickly interrupted.

"Mother~" Mu'er called out from inside the courtyard.

Mu'er, who had been ignored all along, finally found her place, and Zhao Yunyun also saw Mu'er walking towards them from the courtyard.

"Oh my, this must be Mu'er, she's so cute." Zhao Yunyun said with a maternal smile as soon as she saw Mu'er.

"Mu'er, this is Aunt Yunyun, quickly call her Auntie." Xu Han introduced.

"Hello, Auntie~"

"Hello Mu'er, your aunt brought you a gift. Shall we go in and take a look?" Zhao Yunyun took Mu'er's hand and led her into the main room.

Lu Chuan first went to the kitchen to get some snacks and brew some tea before entering the main room.

As soon as they entered the house, Zhao Yunyun couldn't wait to take out the gift she had prepared for Mu'er.

"Mu'er, take a look and see if you like the gifts your aunt bought for you." Zhao Yunyun said as she kept taking out small gifts she had bought for Mu'er.

Xu Han watched with a smile and teased, "Yunyun only remembers to buy gifts for Mu'er, but not for us. It's really sad."

"Hahaha, yes, I'm jealous too," Grandpa Zhao chimed in.
